2019 Fantasy Football Rankings - Quarterbacks (Aug. 26):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-35

Other Positions: RB | WR | TE | Top 250

  1. Philip Rivers, QB, Chargers. Bye: 12.
Philip Rivers turns 37 in December, but he has a great supporting cast and should continue to be a fantasy QB1 in favorable matchups. However, he’s not a weekly option and is currently being overdrafted.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 4,325 passing yards. 30 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 269.

  2. Sam Darnold, QB, Jets. Bye: 4.
AUG. 16 UPDATE: I have a 100/1 wager on Sam Darnold to win MVP this year, and I was encouraged by his performance against the Falcons. Darnold made some terrific throws in this contest, prompting one of the Atlanta broadcasters to comment, “The ball placement by Darnold is making it impossible for the Falcons to make a play.” Darnold’s best attempt was a perfect back-shoulder throw to Robby Anderson. Darnold went 5-of-7 for 46 yards in a quarter of action despite not having Le’Veon Bell at his disposal. Darnold seems primed for a big season.

AUG. 9 UPDATE: Sam Darnold played just one drive in the preseason opener. His first throw was a sketchy one, as he had a potential interception dropped by Jabrill Peppers. That, however, was Darnold’s only mistake of the evening, as he was able to rebound by leading his team on a 75-yard touchdown drive. Darnold’s very next throw was an impressive one, as he stepped up in the pocket to avoid pressure and found Chris Herndon for a long gain. Darnold finished 4-of-5 for 68 yards and a touchdown. Save for the mistake on his first throw, Darnold looked excellent. I expect his progression to be one of the reasons why the Jets will make a big leap in 2019.

Sam Darnold missed several games of his rookie year because of an injury. He began well, then struggled, but finished on a strong note. With Adam Gase as his coach, Darnold is likely to take off in his second season. It’s just unfortunate that his receiving corps isn’t very good.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 4,100 passing yards. 28 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 130 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 265.

  3. Andy Dalton, QB, Bengals. Bye: 9.
Andy Dalton had a nice start to his season, throwing for 330 yards or more twice in his first four games, but then he lost Tyler Eifert and then A.J. Green to injury. Dalton will rebound next year with Tyler Boyd establishing himself as a viable weapon.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,800 passing yards. 24 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 110 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 249.

  4. Jacoby Brissett, QB, Colts. Bye: 6.
Jacoby Brissett is the Colts’ starting quarterback in the wake of Andrew Luck’s retirement. He can be used in good matchups during bye weeks, but is not worth rostering otherwise.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,400 passing yards. 20 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 260 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 246.

  5. Nick Foles, QB, Jaguars. Bye: 10.
Following another successful late-season run, Nick Foles will be Jacksonville’s starter next year. The Jaguars’ receiving corps is pretty pedestrian, so I wouldn’t expect much from Foles as far as a fantasy perspective is concerned.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 4,000 passing yards. 26 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 243.

  6. Marcus Mariota, QB, Titans. Bye: 11.
AUG. 26 UPDATE: Marcus Mariota struggled in the preseason dress rehearsal. He overthrew Corey Davis on his first drive and then took a safety to conclude his second possession, thanks to holding the ball too long. Mariota failed to complete all three of his attempts, though it should be noted that Adam Humphries dropped a pass. Mariota was quickly removed because of Tennessee’s offensive line woes. There’s a legitimate chance Ryan Tannehill unseats Mariota at some point.

Marcus Mariota can’t be trusted to stay on the field. He showed improvement last year when healthy, but he struggled at times when banged up. He’s a non-factor in standard leagues.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,300 passing yards. 19 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 350 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 241.

  7. Derek Carr, QB, Raiders. Bye: 6.
Derek Carr’s 4,049 yards came close to my projection last year (4,150), but he was 12 touchdowns short of the predicted total. Carr struggled mightily, though that wasn’t all his fault; he had no talent at receiver following the Amari Cooper trade, while his offensive line was extremely banged up. Carr could bounce back in 2019 with Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams at his disposal, but I can’t say I completely trust him.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 4,150 passing yards. 23 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 50 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 239.

  8. Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions. Bye: 5.
Matthew Stafford had some nice fantasy performances early in 2018, but he struggled down the stretch, thanks to a combination of a back injury and Golden Tate’s departure. Stafford will bounce back a bit in 2019, but Tate was never really replaced.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,950 passing yards. 23 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 90 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 237.

  9. Joe Flacco, QB, Broncos. Bye: 10.
The Broncos have limited weapons on offense, so Joe Flacco will be irrelevant in leagues that don’t require starting two quarterbacks.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,850 passing yards. 21 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 60 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 230.

  10. Eli Manning, QB, Giants. Bye: 11.
Dave Gettleman said that Eli Manning still has two or three more great years remaining, so I imagine Manning will start most, if not the entire season.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3,950 passing yards. 22 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 224.

  11. Dwayne Haskins, QB, Redskins. Bye: 10.
Dwayne Haskins is likely to start the 2019 opener, so he has that going for him. The problem is that Haskins has no mobility, and he lacks a decent supporting cast, so it’s hard to feel optimistic about him from a fantasy perspective.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 3.400 passing yards. 19 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 187.

  12. Josh Rosen, QB, Dolphins. Bye: 5.
Josh Rosen was the worst rookie quarterback last year by a mile. Unless the NFL allows teams to have safe spaces on the field, Rosen is unlikely to improve.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 2,800 passing yards. 14 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 150 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 155.

  13. Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Dolphins. Bye: 5.
Ryan Fitzpatrick will start the season until he implodes. Then, it’ll be Josh Rosen’s turn.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 1,400 passing yards. 8 passing TDs. 6 INTs. 100 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 86.

  14. Daniel Jones, QB, Giants. Bye: 11.
Daniel Jones doesn’t project as a viable fantasy quarterback this year or the near future. Jones isn’t overly talented, and he doesn’t have a great supporting cast either. Plus, Eli Manning is still the quarterback for the time being.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 1,100 passing yards. 5 passing TDs. 4 INTs. 40 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 80.

  15. Case Keenum, QB, Redskins. Bye: 10.
Case Keenum may start to open the season, but he won’t last very long.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 950 passing yards. 5 passing TDs. 4 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 53.

  16. Drew Lock, QB, TBA. Bye: 0.
Missouri rookie quarterback Drew Lock has some nice tools to succeed in the NFL, but he also has some glaring weaknesses like his accuracy and poor field vision. He’s a project.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 0 passing yards. 0 passing TDs. 0 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2019 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 0.

  17. Andrew Luck, QB, Colts. Bye: 6.
    Andrew Luck has retired.

Projected 2019 Fantasy Stats: 0 passing yards. 0 passing TDs. 0 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 0.
