There will be many more 2012 Fantasy Football Rankings and features in the late spring and summer, including tons of 2012 Fantasy Football Mock Drafts, Player Rankings, Sleepers and Busts. I’ll also have an extensive 2012 NFL Fantasy Football Preseason Stock Report.
2012 Fantasy Football Rookie Rankings: Dynasty
- Trent Richardson, RB, Browns
Trent Richardson is a stud, and he’s never going to come off the field because of his ability to catch passes out of the backfield. He should be among the league leaders in total yardage over the next 8-10 years.
- Robert Griffin, QB, Redskins
It’s very close for me, but I’d rather have Robert Griffin because of his potential to accumulate rushing numbers. Think of Griffin as more upside, but Luck as being safer.
- Andrew Luck, QB, Colts
You can’t go wrong with either of the top two rookie quarterbacks this year. Andrew Luck will pick up rushing yardage, as he has very underrated athleticism. He’s more Aaron Rodgers than Peyton Manning.
- Doug Martin, RB, Buccaneers
The Buccaneers really don’t like LeGarrette Blount because he can’t catch balls out of the backfield or pass protect. Martin can do that. He’s drawn comparisons to Ray Rice.
- David Wilson, RB, Giants
Ahmad Bradshaw won’t be a Giant for more than two years, so David Wilson should take over as the starter soon.
- Justin Blackmon, WR, Jaguars
Poor Justin Blackmon is going to rot away in Jacksonville as long as Blaine Gabbert is under center. Hopefully the Jaguars will land a franchise quarterback soon.
- Michael Floyd, WR, Cardinals
Michael Floyd will benefit from opposing defenses paying lots of attention to Larry Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, Arizona’s quarterbacking situation is pretty dubious, so Floyd won’t produce much until they get that straightened out.
- Isaiah Pead, RB, Rams
Isaiah Pead is seen as the successor to Steven Jackson. We’ll see how that works out.
- Kendall Wright, WR, Titans
It’s possible that Kendall Wright could have the best rookie year of all the receivers. He’s very talented, and out of the Titans, Jaguars (Justin Blackmon) and Cardinals (Michael Floyd), Tennessee has the most stable quarterbacking situation.
- Stephen Hill, WR, Jets
Stephen Hill has immense upside, but he’s really raw. He and Tim Tebow could have a good rapport at some point though; Tebow had lots of success throwing to another Georgia Tech wideout in Denver.
- Alshon Jeffery, WR, Bears
Alshon Jeffery would have been a first-round pick if it weren’t for work-ethic concerns. He has the quarterback to make him a solid fantasy receiver.
- Brian Quick, WR, Rams
Speaking of being raw, Brian Quick has tons of upside, but I wouldn’t bet on him posting big numbers this year.
- Ronnie Hillman, RB, Broncos
Ronnie Hillman should see action right away as the change-of-pace back behind Willis McGahee. The upside is that McGahee is wearing down, so Hillman could see lots of playing time toward the end of the year. Unfortunately, he’ll probably never be a primary ball-carrier.
- Coby Fleener, TE, Colts
Coby Fleener should be able to be very productive as Andrew Luck’s tight end in the pros. He certainly was at Stanford.
- LaMichael James, RB, 49ers
LaMichael James needs Frank Gore to get injured, but that happens frequently. Even still, he’ll share touches with Kendall Hunter and Brandon Jacobs when that occurs. His long-term outlook is better than his 2012 prospects.
- Ryan Broyles, WR, Lions
Matthew Stafford has a ton of targets. It’s unlikely that a rookie receiver will do much, but Ryan Broyles should be a big factor in the future.
- Lamar Miller, RB, Dolphins
Lamar Miller won’t see much action with Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas in front of him, but he’ll get playing time in 2013 and beyond.
- Ryan Tannehill, QB, Dolphins
Nothing could happen to Ryan Tannehill that would surprise me. He could be great – and he’ll pick up rushing yardage in the process – but he could also suck, as most Big XII quarterbacks do when they reach the NFL.
- A.J. Jenkins, WR, 49ers
The 49ers reached for A.J. Jenkins. It’ll take some time for him to produce.
- DeVier Posey, WR, Texans
DeVier Posey was a reach in Round 3, but all he needs to do is beat out Kevin Walter for playing time. There’s a chance that could happen.
- Nick Toon, WR, Saints
Any Saint receiver has fantasy upside. There is some playing time available in the wake of Robert Meachem’s signing with San Diego.
- Mohamed Sanu, WR, Bengals
The Bengals envision Mohamed Sanu as their next T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He doesn’t have the explosion to be a No. 1 receiver, but he’ll be a solid possession type. There’s an opening at the WR2 position on the roster.
- T.J. Graham, WR, Bills
Forgive me for not being excited about a guy who could be Ryan Fitzpatrick’s No. 2 receiver.
- Chris Givens, WR, Rams
One of these Ram receivers should become Sam Bradford’s favorite target.
- Dwayne Allen, TE, Colts
Andrew Luck loves sticking the ball to his tight ends (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Dwayne Allen, however, will focus more on blocking.
- Dan Herron, RB, Bengals
We’ll know if Dan Herron is any good if he gets some playing time this year. His competition is BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Bernard Scott.
- Vick Ballard, RB, Colts
Vick Ballard could win a starting job this year. The Colts don’t have much at running back. He’ll be worth drafting late.
- Bernard Pierce, RB, Ravens
Bernard Pierce has a very good chance to be Baltimore’s No. 2 running back. He’ll have to be added during the year if Ray Rice gets hurt.
- Rueben Randle, WR, Giants
- Greg Childs, WR, Vikings
- Robert Turbin, RB, Seahawks
- Ladarius Green, TE, Chargers
- Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks
- Joe Adams, WR, Panthers
- Adrien Robinson, TE, Giants
- T.Y. Hilton, WR, Colts
- Marvin Jones, WR, Bengals
- Tommy Streeter, WR, Ravens
- Jarius Wright, WR, Vikings
- Orson Charles, TE, Bengals
- Marc Tyler, RB, Packers
- Brandon Weeden, QB, Browns
- B.J. Cunningham, WR, Dolphins
- Rishard Matthews, WR, Dolphins
- Evan Rodriguez, TE, Bears
- Michael Egnew, TE, Dolphins
- Bryce Brown, RB, Eagles
- Chris Rainey, RB, Steelers
- Cyrus Gray, RB, Chiefs
- Terrance Ganaway, RB, Jets
- Alfred Morris, RB, Redskins
- Edwin Baker, RB, Chargers
- Marvin McNutt, WR, Eagles
- Keshawn Martin, WR, Texans
- Dwight Jones, WR, Texans
- Danny Coale, WR/P, Cowboys
- Travis Benjamin, WR, Browns
- LaVon Brazill, WR, Colts
- Juron Criner, WR, Raiders
- Devon Wylie, WR, Chiefs
- Daryl Richardson, RB, Rams
- Michael Smith, RB, Buccaneers
- Chris Polk, RB, Eagles
- James Hanna, TE, Cowboys
- Junior Hemingway, WR, Chiefs
- Toney Clemons, WR, Steelers
- Jeremy Ebert, WR, Patriots
- Jordan White, WR, Jets
- David Paulson, TE, Steelers
- Drake Dunsmore, TE, Buccaneers
- Brad Smelley, TE, Browns
- Ryan Lindley, QB, Cardinals
- Brock Osweiler, QB, Broncos
- Nick Foles, QB, Eagles
- Kirk Cousins, QB, Redskins
- B.J. Coleman, QB, Packers
- Chandler Harnish, QB, Colts
