2014 Fantasy Football Rankings - Wide Receivers (Sept. 3):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-40 | 41-60 | 61-95

  1. Randall Cobb, WR, Packers. Bye: 9.
AUG. 23: Randall Cobb had a rough outing against the Raiders. He was targeted just thrice, which is nothing compared to the seven balls Jordy Nelson saw go his way. Cobb didn’t even log a single reception because of two drops.

Randall Cobb played in only six games this past season, yet he still managed to register 511 total yards and four touchdowns. Extrapolate that over a 16-game slate, and you get 83 receptions, 1,363 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those are fringe WR1 numbers.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 80 catches. 1,290 yards. 9 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 190.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 270.

  2. Larry Fitzgerald, WR, Cardinals. Bye: 4.
AUG. 25: Larry Fitzgerald has endured a couple of down years, but he’s looking like he’s at the top of his game right now. He led the team with 71 yards off three catches against the Bengals in just one half of action. Fitzgerald was impressive on a 43-yard quick slant and made an awesome, diving catch for a gain of 19. You can buy low on Fitzgerald right now because everyone is so down on him.

Larry Fitzgerald played all 16 games this past season, but wasn’t healthy. He battled a hamstring and a concussion throughout the year, which limited him to 954 yards and 10 touchdowns. This is a solid opportunity to buy low on Fitzgerald; he’ll only be 31 in August, and he’ll be coming off an entire offseason with Carson Palmer.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 86 catches. 1,210 yards. 10 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 188.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 274.

  3. Pierre Garcon, WR, Redskins. Bye: 10.
The Redskins stunk in 2013, but Pierre Garcon still had a great year, hauling in 113 receptions for 1,346 yards and five touchdowns; he became the third player in league history to register at least five catches in every single game. Garcon and Robert Griffin already scheduled several workouts this offseason, so that’s a positive development. DeSean Jackson being on the roster also helps because teams won’t be able to focus on Garcon as much.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 102 catches. 1,320 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 175.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 277.

  4. Michael Crabtree, WR, 49ers. Bye: 8.
AUG. 2: Michael Crabtree will be out close to two weeks with what’s being reported as a sore hamstring. The team doesn’t believe it’s serious, but hamstrings tend to linger for receivers.

Michael Crabtree barely played during the regular season, as he tore his Achilles in the summer. Crabtree returned in Week 13, but never looked like himself. That’ll change with an entire healthy offseason. Crabtree should be back to strong-WR2 form in 2014.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 83 catches. 1,200 yards. 8 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 168.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 251.

  5. Michael Floyd, WR, Cardinals. Bye: 4.
JUNE 19 UPDATE: Michael Floyd, per multiple reports, has been a monster this offseason. He has caught everything, all while everything has clicked mentally. He’s going to have a huge season. He’s not a big name yet though, so make sure you get him on your roster.

Michael Floyd was a monster during the middle of the season. He had a three-game stretch in which he went: 6-193-1, 7-104-0 and 5-99-1. An ankle injury hobbled him at the end of the year, but Floyd has made enough improvements in his game to be considered a high WR3.

Projected 2013 Fantasy Stats: 79 catches. 1,190 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2013 Fantasy Points: 168.
Projected 2013 PPR Fantasy Points: 247.

  6. Roddy White, WR, Falcons. Bye: 9.
Roddy White had a lost season that was disrupted by an injury. He was just a decoy until the end of the year, but he was dominant then, posting lines of 10-143 in Toronto, 12-141 at San Francisco and 8-91-1 versus Carolina. White figures to be a decent WR2 in 2014, assuming he’s not banged up again.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 87 catches. 1,200 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 162.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 249.

  7. Keenan Allen, WR, Chargers. Bye: 10.
Keenan Allen had a fantastic rookie season, catching 71 passes for 1,046 yards and eight touchdowns despite barely doing anything in the first three weeks. Allen would have been a first-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft if it wasn’t for his slow 40 time, as he had a terrific career at Cal. He’ll continue to be a huge part of San Diego’s offense barring some sort of inexplicable sophomore slump.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 81 catches. 1,140 yards. 8 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 162.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 243.

  8. Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Vikings. Bye: 10.
AUG. 24: Cordarrelle Patterson had another nice performance, snagging three of the five balls thrown to him for 71 yards and a touchdown at Kansas City. However, Patterson should’ve posted better numbers because he dropped an easy pass that could have gone for a long gain. Still, Patterson has displayed real-life WR1 and fantasy WR2 abilities all preseason. He’s going to have a big year.

AUG. 10: Cordarrelle Patterson looks like he’s in for a huge year. He caught three balls for 38 yards in just one quarter of action in the preseason opener. There’s no battle with Jerome Simpson for playing time this year. Patterson is Minnesota’s clear-cut No. 1 wideout.

JUNE 24: Greg Jennings revealed that he was told that the team is going to showcase Cordarrelle Patterson. It’s been mentioned before that Norv Turner has spent lots of time designing plays for the second-year speedy wideout. Patterson is ticketed for a big year.

As with most rookie receivers, Cordarrelle Patterson posted meager numbers during his first NFL campaign. However, check out what he did in the final six games of the season: 24 catches, 273 yards and three touchdowns. That’s good for 64 receptions, 728 yards and eight scores over 16 contests. That in itself isn’t too impressive, but consider that Norv Turner is specifically designing tons of plays to get the ball into Patterson’s hands. The second-year wideout could be in for a huge season.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 81 catches. 1,190 yards. 7 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 161.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 242.

  9. Marques Colston, WR, Saints. Bye: 6.
SEPT. 2: Marques Colston told the media that he feels healthier than he has in the past two years. Colston was on fire down the stretch last season, and he should be able to carry that over into 2014. He’s been undervalued all summer.

Marques Colston is coming off the worst season of his career, thanks to a knee injury that limited him in the first half of the year. He took off in the second half, however, looking like the Colston we’re used to seeing. He should continue to be a WR2.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 82 catches. 1,120 yards. 8 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 160.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 242.

  10. Andre Johnson, WR, Texans. Bye: 10.
AUG. 2: Andre Johnson is yet another receiver who will miss time with a hamstring issue. This is not a surprise, as Johnson was absent during offseason workouts. Johnson, who just turned 33, should probably be avoided in drafts because he’s being picked too early.

JULY 26: Andre Johnson reported to training camp. Regression due to age could still be a problem, but at least he’s not missing any practice time.

JULY 11 UPDATE: Andre Johnson told the Texans that he wants to play for another team, according to Ian Rapoport. Johnson will ultimately report to Houston, but he’s going to keep missing workouts, which doesn’t bode well for his 2014 prospects.

JUNE 14 UPDATE: Andre Johnson is another veteran who plans on missing mandatory practices. Johnson will turn 33 in July, so this is the last thing he needs, especially with a new system that he has to learn. It’s fair to expect a decline from Houston’s long-time wideout this season.

Andre Johnson’s fantasy outlook is down in the wake of the Texans failing to address the quarterback position until the end of the third round. Don’t overreact too much though; Ryan Fitzpatrick will be at his best with Bill O’Brien coaching him up. Having said that, Johnson will turn 33 in July, so he’s bound to decline soon.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 92 catches. 1,260 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 156.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 248.
