2023 Fantasy Football Value Running Backs

Alexander Mattison

2023 Fantasy Football Value Running Backs (Aug. 16):

This is a list of my favorite 2023 fantasy football value running backs. These are fantasy players who aren’t quite sleepers – i.e. they’re being drafted in Rounds 5-9 instead of the final few rounds – but they’re going way later than they should in fantasy football drafts. The Average Draft Position (ADP) is found on FantasyPros.com.

Fantasy Football Value Wide Receivers

  1. Alexander Mattison, RB, Vikings. ADP: 5.09.
I don’t understand this ADP. If Dalvin Cook were still on the Vikings, he would be going late second, early third. That’s where Alexander Mattison should be drafted as the new primary back on the Vikings.

  2. Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints. ADP: 6.01.
Alvin Kamara was dreadful last year, but the Kamara we saw in the preseason opener was the one who resembled the pre-2022 Kamara. Given that Kamara has been suspended only three games, he’s well worth taking atop Round 6.

  3. Isiah Pacheco, RB, Chiefs. ADP: 7.03.
It’s mind boggling to me that the undisputed starting running back of the Chiefs is going in the seventh round. Did everyone forget how great Isiah Pacheco was in the playoffs last year?

  4. James Cook, RB, Bills. ADP: 7.04.
James Cook is the primary ball-carrier on the Bills, and with Ezekiel Elliott and Dalvin Cook signing elsewhere, that is unlikely to change. Cook may not get the goal-line carries, but he’ll do everything else.

  5. Khalil Herbert, RB, Bears. ADP: 9.03.
I don’t understand how Khalil Herbert is going in the ninth round. Herbert is the primary running back for a Chicago offense that will be more explosive this year. Herbert was also impressive as a runner last year when looking at the metrics.
