2014 Fantasy Football Rankings - Tight Ends (Aug. 27):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-45

  1. Zach Ertz, TE, Eagles. Bye: 7.
AUG. 16: Zach Ertz needs a stock up with Jeremy Maclin and Riley Cooper both battling injuries. Ertz has reportedly stood out in training camp thus far, so he could have a breakout year.

Zach Ertz managed just five catches in the first four weeks of the season, but he posted a 25-290-5 line during the final nine games. Ertz has the potential to really take off next season, especially if the rookie receivers don’t step up right away.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 63 catches. 750 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 111.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 174.

  2. Martellus Bennett, TE, Bears. Bye: 9.
Martellus Bennett proved to be a big producer in Marc Trestman’s offense, snatching 65 receptions for 759 yards and five touchdowns, marking the second consecutive season he’s hauled in five scores.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 68 catches. 780 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 108.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 176.

  3. Charles Clay, TE, Dolphins. Bye: 5.
AUG. 15: Charles Clay is “week to week,” according to Joe Philbin, and his Week 1 status is up in the air because of his knee injury.

The Dolphins were expecting big things from Dustin Keller after bringing him in, but Charles Clay stepped up after Keller was lost for the year. Clay finished with 69 catches, 759 yards and seven touchdowns. He’ll continue to be a big part of Miami’s offense.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 65 catches. 760 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 106.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 171.

  4. Antonio Gates, TE, Chargers. Bye: 10.
AUG. 24: Antonio Gates led the Charger starters in targets and receptions, catching three balls for 28 yards and a touchdown. Ladarius Green is being drafted before Gates in some leagues, which is just crazy. Gates, if healthy, can still post low-end TE1 numbers. Of course, Gates is always hurt, but he can function as a spot starter at the position for now.

Antonio Gates had 77 catches for 872 yards and four touchdowns in 2013, but the bulk of his numbers came in Weeks 2-5. He barely did anything starting in the middle of October. He looked old and slow. Turning 34 in June, Gates’ career is quickly winding down.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 66 catches. 750 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 105.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 171.

  5. Delanie Walker, TE, Titans. Bye: 9.
New head coach Ken Whisenhunt compared Delanie Walker to Antonio Gates upon his hiring and seemed genuinely excited for Walker’s role in his offense. Walker, as a result, has some sleeper potential.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 65 catches. 680 yards. 6 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 104.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 169.

  6. Coby Fleener, TE, Colts. Bye: 10.
Coby Fleener struggles with the mental aspect of the game, which might explain why he’s so maddeningly inconsistent. Hopefully the light will come on for him sometime soon.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 60 catches. 710 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 101.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 161.

  7. Jared Cook, TE, Rams. Bye: 4.
I didn’t have much faith in Jared Cook entering last season, so I was shocked when he produced a 7-141-2 line in the opener. Cook, however, disappointed the rest of the way, finishing with 51 grabs for 671 yards and five scores. He’ll be an inconsistent TE2 once again next year.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 55 catches. 700 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 100.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 155.

  8. Tyler Eifert, TE, Bengals. Bye: 4.
Those expecting Tyler Eifert to overtake Jermaine Gresham instantly were disappointed, as the rookie tight end made 39 receptions for 445 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll naturally be a larger part of the offense in 2014.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 59 catches. 690 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 99.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 158.

  9. Heath Miller, TE, Steelers. Bye: 12.
Heath Miller tore his ACL, MCL and PCL in December 2012, yet he missed only two games in 2013. He logged 58 catches for 593 yards and a touchdown. Miller should be better this upcoming season, given that he’ll be completely over his knee injury.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 59 catches. 690 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 99.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 158.

  10. Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jaguars. Bye: 11.
Marcedes Lewis has never lived up to his 10-touchdown campaign back in 2010, but he at least hauled in four scores in 11 games this past season. Lewis’ numbers will improve if Blake Bortles plays up to potential.

Projected 2014 Fantasy Stats: 53 catches. 610 yards. 5 total TDs.
    Projected 2014 Fantasy Points: 91.
Projected 2014 PPR Fantasy Points: 144.
