Sam Bradford, Oklahoma – Scouting Report
Height: 6-5. Weight: 236.
Projected 40 Time: 4.79.
Combine 40 Time: .
Hand: 9 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): Top 1 Pick.
3/30/10: Sam Bradford was prolific at his Combine, completing 62-of-63 passes, with the one misfire being a drop. The reviews were all positive, and Gil Brandt even remarked that Bradford was the best he had seen since Troy Aikman. Barring contract negotiation breakdowns, Bradford will be the No. 1 pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
3/9/10: Sam Bradford did not work out – he’ll do that on his personal Pro Day on March 25 – but it’s worth noting that he impressively scored a 36 on his Wonderlic. As a reference, Jimmy Clausen posted a 23.
2/27/10: Sam Bradford weighed in at 6-4 1/4 and 236 pounds. Bradford certainly did a lot of bulking up recently to quell the notion that he’s brittle and can’t take a beating. Despite being the inferior prospect, he has emerged as the favorite to go No. 1 overall to St. Louis, but I wouldn’t count out Jimmy Clausen quite yet, seeing as how the Rams haven’t even interviewed with him yet.
11/7/09: Sam Bradford is out for the year. He has too many questions, including his arm strength, durability and ability to transition into a pro-style offense. He’s fallen way behind Jimmy Clausen and Jake Locker.
10/10/09: Sam Bradford should have declared last year. He’ll learn his lesson this time, though he may not have a choice with a possible rookie pay scale coming in 2011.
9/12/09: Sam Bradford is the perfect example why any quarterback projected to be taken top-five overall should declare early. Stationed behind a poor offensive line, Bradford was 10-of-14 for 96 yards (6.9 YPA) and a score before suffering an injury that has knocked him out 2-4 weeks. Making matters worse, Bradford’s star tight end, Jermaine Gresham, is out for the year. Bradford is now in danger of being passed by Jevan Snead and Jimmy Clausen, though that obviously hasn’t happened yet.
5/10/09: Sam Bradford is currently listed atop my 2010 NFL Mock Draft.
1/13/09: I felt as though Sam Bradford needed a great game against Florida in the UPS-sponsored final winter practice game to surpass Matt Stafford in these rankings. Bradford went 26-of-41 for 257 yards and two touchdowns, but also tossed two picks. Because Stafford has a more powerful arm (and thus higher upside) he remains No. 1 on the 2009 list.

Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 222.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Hand: 9.
Projected Round (2010): Top 9 Pick.
4/9/10: Jimmy Clausen completed 57-of-59 passes at his Pro Day, with the two misfires coming on fade routes to a relatively slow receiver (should have been Michael Floyd). Clausen is still arguably the top quarterback in this class.
3/11/10: Scored a 23 on his Wonderlic exam. A solid number, but it paled in comparison to Sam Bradford’s 36.
2/27/10: Despite speculation that he might measure in at 6-1, Jimmy Clausen was a solid 6-2 1/2, 222 pounds at the Combine – which makes him taller than Mark Sanchez. Poor Todd McShay – now he’s going to have to find something else wrong with Clausen. Here’s a suggestion from Daniel S. via Facebook: “So what is [McShay] going to hate on next? His cup size?”
1/3/10: Jimmy Clausen has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. Though some of the big-media people are a little behind, Jimmy Clausen has a great shot at going No. 1. The only thing that could screw that up is contract negotiations. The Rams would be making a grave mistake by eschewing Clausen.
10/10/09: Jimmy Clausen is the No. 1 quarterbacking propsect right now. Clausen has superior arm strength compared to Sam Bradford, and unlike his Oklahoma counterpart, Clausen plays under center and happens to be healthy.
9/12/09: Jimmy Clausen was prolific on opening weekend, going 15-of-18 for 315 yards and four touchdowns. It was just Nevada, but this is what we’ve been waiting for from Clausen. Clausen is a legitimate first-round prospect if he declares early, and if he continues to put up those type of numbers, he could be the first quarterback taken in the 2010 NFL Draft.
2/4/09: Jimmy Clausen was much more successful as a sophomore than in his troubling freshman year. Clausen threw for 3,172 yards and 25 touchdowns, and maintained a solid 7.2 YPA. However, he tossed 17 picks as well. That number must decrease.
7/24/08: In 2007, Jimmy Clausen often looked lost on the football field. This was extremely evident when he went 7-of-20 for 60 yards and two picks against Boston College on Oct. 13. However, Clausen was an 18-year-old true freshman who was coming off elbow surgery. He finished the year extremely well, tossing six touchdowns and a pick in the final three contests, albeit it was against weaker competition. Now healthy and more mature, Clausen should improve tremendously as a sophomore.

Tim Tebow, Florida – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 236.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Combine 40 Time: 4.72.
Hand: 10 1/8.
Projected Round (2010): 1-2.
3/17/10: Tim Tebow really improved his mechanics and looked solid at his Pro Day. He’s made great strides in such a short period of time, so there’s no denying he’ll be able to fix almost everything by the time a team asks him to start in the NFL. Said Mike Mayock: “Tim Tebow made more progress than I expected between the Senior Bowl and his pro day … don’t bet against this kid.”
3/11/10: Tim Tebow scored a 22 on his Wonderlic exam. Nothing of significance there.
2/27/10: Mike Holmgren all but said the Browns weren’t interested in Tim Tebow during Friday’s press conference at the Combine. Holmgren called Tebow a “great person” and said “he’s someone you want on your football team.” Holmgren also wished Tebow good luck in his pro career, but openly questioned his ability to transition to the NFL and seemed to shurg off the notion that Tebow has a chance of joining the Browns.
1/31/10: The good: The Senior Bowl was sold out because everyone wanted to see Tim Tebow. Whenever Tebow ran onto the field, he was greeted by a standing ovation. Whenever he wasn’t in the game, the crowd chanted, “We Want Tee-Bow!” Thousands of people went to Alabama just to see him practice. He has a huge following, and you’re lying to yourself if you think he wouldn’t sell out Jaguars games for at least two years.
The bad: Tebow is not ready to play in the NFL. He made a couple of nice, NFL-type passes in this game, but he’s not comfortable playing under center; his throwing motion is way too slow; and he exposes the ball in the pocket, making him prone to fumbling. Tebow has the arm and the skill set to be a starting NFL quarterback, but it’ll take him time to develop.
All in all, my opinion of Tebow hasn’t changed. He’ll make tons of money for his new owner, and even though he’s a project, he’s not someone I’d want to bet against.
1/15/10: I find it amazing that people love to hate on Tim Tebow and are all about supporting QB Dog Killer. Crazy world we live in. Tebow is a strong-armed, accurate passer (67.8 completion, 9.2 YPA) with a ton of upside. His ability to play in a pro offense, his footwork and slow release are all issues, but I think it’s absolutely naive to dismiss Tebow as a promising quarterback when Vince Wonderlic Young transitioned into a pretty solid NFL quarterback when he played in a similar scheme.
What Tebow gives up in mechanics, he makes up for in work ethic. He won’t be able to step in and play really well right away, but he’s a very promising pro quarterback who will undoubtedly sell tickets and draw fan interest. Click on the link if you don’t believe me.
11/7/09: Tony Dungy said he’d take Tim Tebow over any quarterback in the 2010 NFL Draft. Jon Gruden will as well. Someone will pluck Tebow off the board in the top 25.
10/10/09: Jacksonville owner Wayne Weaver said he would draft Tim Tebow come April. The Jaguars’ No. 1 need right now is to fill seats. Tebow can do that, so even if he busts, he’ll be a great draft pick financially.
5/10/09: Don’t listen to me; Bill Parcells said “Tim Tebow won’t be a top-five pick, but he’ll be a top-10 pick.” Jon Gruden, meanwhile, said Tebow would “revolutionize the game.” If Pat White was drafted in Round 2, I think Tebow has a shot of getting drafted in the first round.
12/20/08: Everyone knows what sort of an athlete Tim Tebow is. Even if he fails at quarterback, he still has a spot in the league. His greatest challenge will be adjusting from the spread offense to a pro-style attack. But many spread quarterbacks have been taken in the first round, including another Urban Meyer product (Alex Smith). Tebow has a much higher ceiling than the small-handed Smith, who was a fumbling machine waiting to happen.

Colt McCoy, Texas – Scouting Report
Height: 6-1. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.71.
Combine 40 Time: 4.77.
Hand: 9 3/8.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
3/31/10: Colt McCoy completed all 58 of his pass attempts during his Pro Day. Most reports, including Mike Lombardi’s, cite that McCoy was “only average.” He might be chosen in Day 2, but the shorter clone of Kyle Orton should probably be chosen in Round 4.
3/11/10: Colt McCoy scored a 25 on his Wonderlic exam. Nothing of significance there.
2/27/10: Colt McCoy measured in at just 6-1, 216. For a guy whose absolute upside is Kyle Orton, being 6-1 is yet another hurdle to overcome in addition to his weak arm strength and unfamiliarity with a pro-style offense. It’s difficult to imagine that McCoy will be selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
1/15/10: Colt McCoy doesn’t make reads. He lacks an NFL arm. He’s small and fragile (see the scrimmage against Alabama). He needs to transition into an NFL offense and learn how to play under center. I don’t see why he would be any sort of NFL prospect.
5/10/09: Colt McCoy shouldn’t be a Round 1-3 prospect, but he happens to be a great fit for Kansas City and Denver’s offense, which requires its quarterbacks to play out of the shotgun, maintain no arm strength and not make reads.
1/13/09: Colt McCoy lit up Ohio State’s slow defense in the Cool Ranch Doritos Fiesta Bowl, going 41-of-59 for 414 yards, two touchdowns and a pick.
12/20/08: With a completion percentage of 77.6, a YPA of 9.2, a passing touchdown-to-interception ratio of 32 to 7, 576 rushing yards and 10 rushing scores, many can argue that Colt McCoy should have won the Heisman.
10/12/08: Forget the sophomore slump. Colt McCoy is red-hot this season. His completion percentage is a shade off 80! He has 17 touchdowns and just three picks. His YPA is 9.9. He was brilliant against Oklahoma, going 28-of-35, 277 yards and a score.
3/26/08: Colt McCoy had a disappointing sophomore year, throwing 18 picks after just seven in 2006. His completion percentage dropped three points as well.
2007: McCoy threw interceptions like a madman in a 20-point loss to Kansas State. Through five games, he has way more picks than he had as a freshman.

John Skelton, Fordham
Height: 6-5. Weight: 241.
Projected 40 Time: 5.00.
Combine 40 Time: 4.85.
Hand: 9 3/4.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
3/11/10: Two teams reportedly have a third-round grade on John Skelton. Considering the lack of depth at the quarterback position this year, Skelton could easily be chosen on Day 2.
2/27/10: John Skelton measured in at an impressive 6-5, 243. He also has great arm strength, and currently stands as a mid-round sleeper. Todd McShay recently berated Skelton’s intangibles and off-the-field issues (sound familiar?), but this seemingly was yet another one of McShay’s baseless fabrications.
1/15/10: John Skelton was invited to the Combine, so most of the country will get its first look at him come February.
-
Jarrett Brown, West Virginia – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 224.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.54.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2010): 3-4.
3/25/10: Aside from a 36.5-inch vertical, only did quarterback drills at his Pro Day.
1/31/10: I think we all saw what we expected out of Jarrett Brown; flashes of brilliance at times, but also mistakes that indicate how raw he is. On one pass, Brown didn’t set his feet and overthrew an open receiver by a mile. Brown was also twice guilty of not realizing that this game was being played with the NFL’s down-by-contact rule. I understand missing it once, but a second time? I know this isn’t a big deal, but it just might be an indication of Brown’s inability to process information. Just something to look out for.
1/29/10: Jarrett Brown was the most consistent quarterback in Mobile. Details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section.
1/15/10: There’s some upside here, but Jarrett Brown threw only 11 touchdowns to nine picks on just a 7.2 YPA as a senior. He completed 63.2 percent of his passes.
11/7/09: Some team will fall in love with Jarrett Brown’s upside, but his decision-making and ability to read defenses is pretty questionable.
-
Jevan Snead, Ole Miss – Scouting Report
Height: 6-3. Weight: 223.
Projected 40 Time: 4.82.
Combine 40 Time: 5.01.
Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
3/23/10: Threw well at his Pro Day, missing only two of 42 attempts. However, his weakness remains his decision-making.
3/1/10: Jevan Snead was the most impressive quarterback at the Combine, displaying tremendous accuracy during the drills. Accuracy and decision-making betrayed him this past season, so it was good to see him improve in one of those two areas.
1/8/10: Jevan Snead has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. This may seem strange, but it’s the right move; Snead had less talent around him this year than he did in 2008, and he would have had nothing in 2010. He was also in danger of being benched. Snead’s upside will get him drafted early on Day 3 at the very worst.
11/7/09: Jevan Snead’s TD-INT ratio is 15-13 and his completion percentage is 51.5. His upside will get him selected in Round 2, but his stock has fallen a ton.
10/10/09: Jevan Snead has great arm strength and will be considered in the second half of the first round, but he has struggled with accuracy and decision-making this season.
9/12/09: With Sam Bradford out 2-4 weeks, Jevan Snead had the perfect opportunity to become the No. 1 quarterback in the 2010 class. Instead, Snead was a pedestrian 12-of-22 for 175 yards, two touchdowns and two picks versus lowly Memphis during the opening game of the season. Snead was very inaccurate and his mechanics were shot. This was only one game, so don’t read too much into it, but with more performances like this, Snead is in danger of falling behind Jimmy Clausen.
5/10/09: Jevan Snead could be in the top 10 with another great year; I currently have him going eighth in my 2010 NFL Mock Draft. We’ll see how he does without Michael Oher and Mike Wallace.
2/4/09: Along with Michael Oher, Greg Hardy and Peria Jerry, Jevan Sneed was a major reason for Ole Miss’ recent success. Sneed threw for 2,762 yards, 26 touchdowns and 13 picks as a sophomore. He also had an 8.4 YPA. His completion percentage of 56.3 is his only blemish.
-
Tony Pike, Cincinnati – Scouting Report
Height: 6-6. Weight: 223.
Projected 40 Time: 4.91.
Combine 40 Time: 4.92.
Hand: 10.
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
1/31/10: Tony Pike hit a few nice throws early on, but struggled after his second drive. He didn’t look like anything more than a solid backup NFL quarterback in this contest.
1/27/10: Monday wasn’t the only bad day for Tony Pike; he struggled on Tuesday as well. Details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section.
1/15/10: Tony Pike finished the year with 2,520 yards, 29 touchdowns and only six interceptions. However, his completion percentage (62.4) and YPA (7.5) were both pedestrian.
11/7/09: Not much arm strength here, but Tony Pike is a smart and accurate quarterback. He could be overdrafted in Rounds 2-3.
10/10/09: Through five games, Tony Pike has 1,493 yards, 13 touchdowns, three picks and an 8.6 YPA. Pike doesn’t have an NFL arm, but he could be a Shaun Hill type. At the very worst, he’ll be a very good backup.
2/4/09: Tony Pike missed some action with a broken forearm. Still, he was able to manage 2,407 yards, 19 touchdowns, 11 picks, 61.4 completion percentage and 7.4 YPA.
-
Jonathan Crompton, Tennessee
Height: 6-3. Weight: 222.
Projected 40 Time: 4.95.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.87.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
3/17/10: Had a solid, but not great workout at his Pro Day. He’s a mid-Day 3 prospect with upside.
1/15/10: Jonathan Crompton finished with 27 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 7.3 YPA on a 58.3 completion percentage.
11/7/09: Jonathan Crompton has really improved recently, which shouldn’t be a surprise because he has some real coaches for once. In the month of October, Cromption threw nine touchdowns and just two picks, and maintained a completion percentage of 56.1 and a YPA of 7.5. Crompton has the tools of an NFL quarterback, and it looks like he’s finally putting everything together.
-
Dan LeFevour, Central Michigan
Height: 6-3. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Combine 40 Time: 4.66.
Hand: 9 1/4.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
3/1/10: Really disappointed everyone by not throwing at the Combine. This was his chance to emerge as the No. 3 quarterback in this class, but he didn’t take advantage of the opportunity.
1/15/10: He’ll have to learn how to play in a pro offense, but Dan LeFevour completed 69.9 percent of his passes, and threw for 28 touchdowns to just seven interceptions. His YPA was 7.6.
2/4/09: Dan LeFevour threw for 2,784 yards, 21 touchdowns and just six picks as a junior. He also rushed for 592 yards. His YPA (7.4) and completion percentage (66.8) were both pretty solid.
5/1/08: Looking to be the next talented NFL quarterback from the MAC, Dan LeFevour threw for 3,652 yards, 27 touchdowns and only 13 picks in 2007. He completed 65.4 percent of his passes, and rushed for 1,122 yards and 19 scores.
-
Zac Robinson, Oklahoma State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.62.
Combine 40 Time: 4.71.
Hand: 9.
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/31/10: Zac Robinson was the best quarterback on the field at the Senior Bowl. He led a touchdown drive for the South at the end of the first half, and he was really the only signal-caller on both sides who looked like he was in complete control.
1/27/10: The best quarterback on the field for the South team during Tuesday’s practice wasn’t Tim Tebow. Zac Robinson really impressed. Details available in the 2010 Senior Bowl section.
1/15/10: Zac Robinson struggled without Dez Bryant, managing 15 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 59.8 completion percentage on a 6.9 YPA.
2/4/09: Zac Robinson registered 3,064 yards, 25 touchdowns and just 10 picks in a prolific season for Oklahoma State. Robinson also completed 65 percent of his passes and maintained an amazing 9.8 YPA.
7/24/08: Don’t worry – this Oklahoma State quarterback doesn’t break down and cry if he’s called a “momma’s boy.” Zac Robinson put up impressive seasonal numbers (2,824 yards, 23 TDs, 9 INTs), but was a bit inconsistent at times, failing to complete more than 50 percent of his passes on four occasions.
-
Bill Stull, Pittsburgh
Height: 6-2. Weight: 211.
Projected 40 Time: 4.95.
Combine 40 Time: .
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 5-6.
1/15/10: Bill Stull’s final numbers: 21 touchdowns, eight interceptions, 8.2 YPA, 65.1 completion percentage – all of which was in a pro-style offense.
11/7/09: Will continue to rise as long as Pitt does well. His TD-INT ratio (16-4), completion percentage (67.3%) and YPA (8.4) are all impressive.
-
Sean Canfield, Oregon State
Height: 6-4. Weight: 224.
Projected 40 Time: 5.12.
Combine 40 Time: 4.99.
Hand: 9 1/4.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
3/16/10: Didn’t run at his Pro Day, but reportedly looked impressive with his deep accuracy.
3/1/10: Really struggled in the passing drills at the Combine. He’s a late-round prospect.
1/15/10: A very smart quarterback who completed 67.9 percent of his passes on a 7.3 YPA. He threw for 21 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
11/7/09: Projects as a solid backup quarterback in the NFL. Having a great senior season at Oregon State (11 TDs, 4 INTs, 68.9%, 7.5 YPA).
MISSING
-
Max Hall, BYU
Height: 6-0. Weight: 204.
Projected 40 Time: 4.73.
Combine 40 Time: 4.84.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.77.
Hand: 9.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
1/15/10: Remember when Max Hall had 11 touchdowns to 10 picks? Well, he finished the year with 33 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions on a 67.2 completion percentage and an 8.7 YPA. Nice rebound. Size is still a concern.
10/10/09: The good: Max Hall has 11 touchdowns, a 9.2 YPA and a completion percentage of 68 through five games. The bad: Hall has 10 interceptions.
9/12/09: Max Hall, Tim Hiller and Zac Robinson are all battling to be the first quarterback to be taken after the opening round, and it looks like Hall has taken the early lead. Hall was an amazing 26-of-38 for 329 yards, two touchdowns and a pair of picks against Oklahoma. Hall was very poised on BYU’s game-winning drive and showed great leadership in the Cougars’ upset victory. Hall made one mistake early in the game when he threw a pass across his body that was intercepted, but I’d say he atoned for that error.
2/4/09: Max Hall had a prolific year for BYU, throwing for 3,957 yards and 35 touchdowns. His completion percentage (69.2) and YPA (8.3) were also outstanding.
7/24/08: A transfer from Arizona State and a member of the 2007 All-Mountain West team, Max Hall garnered 3,848 yards, 26 touchdowns and 12 picks as a sophomore. In two games against UCLA (one was the Las Vegas Postseason Exhibition Match), Hall went 51-of-85, 622 yards, four scores and one pick.
-
Mike Kafka, Northwestern
Height: 6-3. Weight: 222.
Projected 40 Time: 4.92.
Combine 40 Time: 4.93.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.81.
Hand: 9 1/4.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
3/11/10: Looked great at Northwestern’s Pro Day.
1/15/10: Mike Kafka completed 64.8 percent of his passes on a 7.0 YPA, but his TD-INT ratio (16-12) wasn’t too impressive.
-
Levi Brown, Troy
Height: 6-3. Weight: 228.
Projected 40 Time: 4.95.
Combine 40 Time: 4.95.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.82.
Hand: 9 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
1/15/10: Levi Brown has nice size, but he’s yet another product of a goofy college offense. Brown threw for 23 touchdowns and nine interceptions on a 63.7 completion percentage and 8.4 YPA.
-
Ryan Perrilloux, Jacksonville State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 226.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.80.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: As a senior, Ryan Perrilloux had 23 touchdowns to only two interceptions. His completion percentage (58%) was mediocre, but that was because of his sterling 9.9 YPA. Perrilloux has a dubious history, but some team might just be convinced that he turned his life around. Translation: Expect the Bengals to draft him in Rounds 5-6.
2/4/09: Ryan Perrilloux predictably played well at Jacksonville State, throwing for 2,318 yards and 19 touchdowns, and also rushing for 368 yards and seven more scores. Surprisingly, he wasn’t arrested all year.
7/24/08: Ryan Perrilloux has all the athletic ability in the world. He also has a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately, he has a brick for a brain and a personality that rivals Pacman Jones’. Perrilloux was kicked off LSU for multiple off-the-field incidents. A quarterback simply can’t do things like that. They’re supposed to be studying game film and preparing for future opponents; not waving guns at people outside of bars.
-
Joe Webb, UAB
Height: 6-3. Weight: 223.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.44.
Vertical: 42.5.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Joe Webb had 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions on an 8.5 YPA and 59.8 completion percentage. More impressively, he rushed for 1,424 yards as a senior. Some team may consider him as a Wildcat quarterback or a receiver.
-
Tim Hiller, Western Michigan – Scouting Report
Height: 6-4. Weight: 229.
Projected 40 Time: 4.94.
Combine 40 Time: 4.94.
Hand: 9 1/8.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Had 23 touchdowns and 13 interceptions on just a 6.3 YPA. A disappointing senior year.
9/12/09: So much for all the talk about Tim Hiller joining Sam Bradford and Jevan Snead in the first round. Hiller was 22-of-38 for 259 yards, one touchdown and two picks against Michigan. I thought Hiller would show more poise and leadership in a tough environment; instead, he looked rattled and could have tossed several more interceptions. Hiller needs to do more work to sneak into the first three rounds.
2/4/09: While Tim Hiller started and played OK as a sophomore, he really stepped it up in 2008, throwing for 3,725 yards, 36 touchdowns and just 10 picks. Hiller also maintained a 64.9 completion percentage and a 7.1 YPA.

Projected 40 Time: 4.76.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.72.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.

Chris Turner, Maryland
Height: 6-4. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 5.10.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.16.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Suffered a knee injury in November.
10/10/09: Chris Turner has six touchdowns, five picks and a 7.3 YPA through five games. His completion percentage is solid at 62.3.
-
Rusty Smith, Florida Atlantic
Height: 6-5. Weight: 224.
Projected 40 Time: 4.86.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.83.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Played in only eight games because of a sprained shoulder. Had 14 touchdowns and just five interceptions on a 57.3 completion percentage and 7.6 YPA.
2/4/09: Rusty Smith compiled 3,224 yards, 24 touchdowns and 14 picks as a junior. However, his 53.8 completion percentage isn’t going to get it done.
7/24/08: Voted as the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year, Rusty Smith compiled 3,688 yards, 32 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2007. The Sun Belt sucks, so level of competition should be a factor, right? Well, Florida Atlantic did a great job of scheduling BCS competition, as they battled Oklahoma State, Minnesota, Kentucky, South Florida and Florida last year. In those five games, Smith went a combined 97-of-171 (56.7 completion), 1,321 yards, 10 touchdowns and just three picks. All five contests were blowout losses, as Smith just didn’t have the horses to compete. Still, he performed admirably in all five games, including Florida (18-of-33, 290 yards, one touchdown).

Daryll Clark, Penn State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.61.
Hand: 9 1/2.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Notched 24 touchdowns and 10 interceptions on a 7.9 YPA and 60.9 completion percentage. Unfortunately, the offense he played in was goofy and didn’t translate to the NFL – and I’m saying this as a Penn State alumnus.
2/4/09: A strong-armed quarterback who can move the chains with his legs. Daryll Clark threw for 2,597 yards, 19 touchdowns and six picks as a first-year starter. His YPA (8.1) was very impressive.
-
Thaddeus Lewis, Duke
Height: 6-0. Weight: 215.
Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
Combine 40 Time: 4.84.
Hand: 9 5/8.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Finished with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions on a 61.0 completion percentage and 7.4 YPA. His offense doesn’t translate to the NFL.
11/7/09: Having a great year, but not an NFL prospect at the quarterback position.
-
Juice Williams, Illinois
Height: 6-1. Weight: 226.
Projected 40 Time: 4.67.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.91.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Showing absolutely no leadership in a miserable senior campaign, Juice Williams collected 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions on a 57.7 completion percentage and 7.2 YPA.
5/10/09: Could be drafted as some exotic Wildcat specialist like Pat White. Will probably play another position.
2/4/09: I’m still listing Juice Williams here, but he’ll most likely play another position in the NFL. Williams heaved 16 interceptions and had just a 57.5 completion percentage. On the bright side, he threw for 3,173 yards and 22 touchdowns, maintained an 8.3 YPA and rushed for 719 more yards.
7/24/08: There’s no question Juice Williams will be playing at the next level. It’s just a matter of which position he’ll play. Williams is a threat at Illinois because of his dynamic rushing ability, but his mediocre completion percentage and touchdown-to-interception ratio say otherwise of his ability to be a quarterback in the NFL. Seriously, you can’t go 7-of-15, 145 yards and two picks against Ball State.
-
Joe Cox, Georgia
Height: 6-1. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.84.
Combine 40 Time: .
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/15/10: Joe Cox was predictably mediocre, throwing 24 touchdowns, 15 interceptions on a 55.7 completion percentage and 7.8 YPA.
5/10/09: Joe Cox will take over for Matt Stafford next year. He had just 15 pass attempts in 2008, but completed 11 of them for 151 yards (10.1 YPA) and two touchdowns.
-
Riley Skinner, Wake Forest
Height: 6-0. Weight: 214.
Projected 40 Time: 4.88.
Combine 40 Time: 5.00.
Hand: 9 3/8.
Projected Round (2010): FA.
2/4/09: Riley Skinner finished with 2,347 yards, 13 touchdowns and seven picks as a junior. His 6.5 YPA leaves much to be desired.
7/24/08: This guy just wins. He’s 19-6 as Wake Forest’s starting quarterback. Unfortunately, that means little in the NFL. Jason White, Ken Dorsey, Eric Crouch and Chris Leak all won too.
-
Matt Nichols, Eastern Washington
Height: 6-2. Weight: 219.
Projected 40 Time: 4.78.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.88.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): FA.
7/24/08: Matt Nichols put up prolific numbers at Division 1-AA Eastern Washington as a sophomore (3,744 yards, 34 TDs, 9 INTs), but he didn’t play any BCS competition, so we don’t really know what he’s made of just yet.
-
Greg Paulus, Syracuse
Height: 6-2. Weight: 210.
Projected 40 Time: 4.80.
Combine 40 Time: 4.89.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): FA.
3/5/10: Yes, this is Duke’s former point guard. He won’t be drafted, but might get a camp invite.
