- Austin Wilson, OF, Stanford
The Phillies need bats badly so the team could easily draft the best one available.
Pick change; previously Bobby Wahl, RHP - Tim Anderson, SS, East Central Community College
The White Sox are said to want either a middle infielder or a pitcher. The Chicago Sun-Times and MLB.com said the team has scouted Oral Roberts right-hander Alex Gonzalez hard. The White Sox have also looked hard at Anderson along with a lot of other teams.
Pick change; previously Aaron Judge, OF - Phil Bickford, RHP, High School
The Dodgers are supposedly more likely to take an arm this year and Bickford has the skill set they look for.
Pick change; previously Austin Wilson, OF - Sean Manaea, LHP, Indiana State
The Cardinals could use another arm to develop, and Manaea is a nice value at this point in the first round. He could easily go in the top half of Round 1. Some have compared him to David Price.
Pick change; previously Ryan Boldt, OF - Marco Gonzales, LHP, Gonzaga
Detroit seems to prefer college players, and Gonzales could make it to the show quickly. The Tigers could use more young arms.
Pick change; previously Hunter Renfroe, OF/C - Michael Lorenzen, OF, Cal-State Fullerton
The Rays like players with tools and Lorenzen fits that description. He can hit, run and play defense. Lorenzen is a perfect prospect for Tampa Bay and that is why they tried to sign him out of high school. - Ryne Stanek, RHP, Arkansas
Stanek could go a lot earlier, so this would be a good value pick for Baltimore. The Orioles have a done nice job of rebuilding a once proud franchise. Another arm makes sense.
Pick change; previously Marco Gonzales, LHP - Ian Clarkin, LHP, High School
The Rangers like young arms. Clarkin has natural breaking stuff and could develop more power as he matures. - Jonathan Crawford, RHP, Florida
The Athletics shocked many when they broke their bias for college players and took a high schooler last year. That probably is an anomaly and Crawford would fit Oakland’s typical pattern under Billy Beane. - Oscar Mercado, SS, High School
The Giants could consider the best player available and it wouldn’t hurt to add talent to the middle infield. Mercado could go earlier.
Pick change; previously Ryan Stanek, RHP - Jonathan Denney, C, High School
The Yankees could use more catching talent. Denny seems like a New York pick.
Pick change; previously Stephen Gonsalves, LHP - Andrew Thurman, RHP, UC Irvine
The Reds get a nice value pick in Thurman. He could go a lot earlier.
Pick change; previously Oscar Mercado, SS - Alex Gonzalez, RHP, Oral Roberts
It wouldn’t be surprising if St. Louis aims for two arms. The Cardinals landed a left-hander earlier, and go with a right-handed pitcher here. Gonzalez could be in contention for their pick at No. 19, too.
Pick change; previously Jonathan Denney, C - Hunter Harvey, RHP, High School
The Rays always get pitching talent to develop. Harvey could move through the minors quickly. - Billy McKinney, OF, High School
The Rangers add an outfielder to go with their pitcher. McKinney fits the the type of prospect that Texas drafts as the team likes to land the top talents from the state.
Pick change; previously Matthew McPhearson, OF - Ryan Boldt, OF, High School
The Braves will go with the best player available regardless of position. That could be Boldt. He would give them a nice bat and a toolsy outfielder to develop.
Pick change; previously Kevin Ziomek, LHP - Matthew McPhearson, OF, High School
The Yankees finish off a nice haul with an outfielder to go with a righty and a catcher. McPhearson has a nice skill set for New York.
Pick change; previously Billy McKinney, OF - Chris Anderson, RHP, Jacksonville State
New York would have to be pleased with this haul. Landing a pitcher, catcher and outfielder should help fortify the Yankess’ farm system.
