2019 NFL Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2019.

  1. Trent Brown, OT, Patriots. Age: 26.
Signed with Raiders (4 years, $66 million; $36.75 million guaranteed)

There was some doubt as to whether or not Trent Brown could play well on the blind side, but he silenced critics with his performance in 2018. Brown played very well at left tackle, and at just 26 (in April), he has immense potential to eventually emerge on a Pro Bowl level.

  2. Ja’Wuan James, OT, Dolphins. Age: 27.
Signed with Broncos (4 years, $52 million; $32 million guaranteed)

Ja’Wuan James is a stellar right tackle, but had a down 2018 season because he played through a knee injury. He’s still young (27 in June), so he should be able to rebound at 100-percent capacity to open the 2019 campaign.

  3. Daryl Williams, OT, Panthers. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Panthers (1 year)

Daryl Williams was sorely missed in 2018. He played just one game because of a knee injury. Williams is Carolina’s best offensive lineman, and he’s only 27 (in August), so he’s still due a large contract despite barely playing last year.

  4. Bobby Massie, OT, Bears. Age: 30.
    Re-signed with Bears

Bobby Massie was once considered a liability as a starter on the offensive line, but he has improved each year. He’s become a solid right tackle who pass protects very well. Given the weak tackle class in the 2019 NFL Draft, some team might offer him more money than he’s worth.

  5. Ty Nsekhe, OT, Redskins. Age: 33.
Signed with Bills (2 years, $14.5 million; $7.7 million guaranteed

Ty Nsekhe has done a good job as Washington’s swing tackle over the past couple of seasons, playing well whenever Trent Williams went down. Unfortunately, he turns 34 in October.

  6. Donovan Smith, OT, Buccaneers. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Buccaneers

As a former early-round pick, Donovan Smith was a major disappointment as Jameis Winston’s left tackle. However, he’s not a horrible player. Smith can be a quality backup swing tackle or guard in the NFL, but his days as a full-time starter should be over.

  7. Jermey Parnell, OT, Jaguars. Age: 33.
Jermey Parnell was once a quality starting right tackle, but his play declined in 2018. He turns 33 in July, so it’s likely that he’ll continue to regress, but he might have one decent season remaining in his career.

  8. Donald Penn, OT, Raiders. Age: 36.
    Signed with Redskins

Donald Penn was once a stellar left tackle for the Raiders, but his play has fallen off a cliff recently. Penn has battled lethargy and injuries, and he’s now 36 (as of April). Penn’s days in the NFL could be done, but there’s also a chance he could bounce back for one more decent season.

  13. Elijah Wilkinson (RFA), OT, Broncos. Age: 24. — Re-signed with Broncos (1 year)
  14. Mike Remmers, OT, Vikings. Age: 30. — Signed with Giants
  15. Jared Veldheer, OT, Broncos. Age: 32. — Signed with Patriots (1 year, $3.5 million)
  16. Chris Clark, OT, Panthers. Age: 33. — Signed with Saints
  17. Matt Kalil, OT, Vikings. Age: 30.
