2024 NFL Draft Stock – Post-Combine I

2024 NFL Draft Stock Up

Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo

At 6-foot, 195 pounds, Mitchell has excellent size to go along with that speed. He had big-time production in college and good tape that already had him with a first-round grade. Mitchell now is the top-rated corner and looks like a lock to go as a top-20 pick. Some sources think he will be the first cornerback drafted after his combine performance.

Ray Davis, RB, Kentucky

The 2024 NFL Draft does not have a first-round prospect at running back like Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs. However, it does have a lot of good depth among the second-day running back prospects. Davis is a player who is really rising with teams. Multiple team sources from different NFL teams have asked about him and see him as a potential sleeper steal. Davis is a tough, hard-nosed runner who also does a nice job of catching the ball. A number of teams are interested in him, and Davis has a shot at being a third-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Cooper Beebe, G, Kansas State

Even before free agency started, teams started dishing out big contracts to interior offensive linemen, and that continued when the market opened up, with players like Robert Hunt, Jonah Jackson and Kevin Dotson cashing in. The demand will help guard draft prospects because there are teams that were unable to sign the top guards and other teams that had attrition at the position. Team sources said Beebe interviewed really well at the combine. Both of them could be plug-and-play starters at the pro level. Beebe has a shot at being second-round picks and won’t get out of the third round.

Layden Robinson, G, Texas A&M

Robinson is another guard who will benefit from the unsatisified demand for guards around the leage. Sources said Robinson impressed them at the Senior Bowl. He is a potential instant NFL starter who has a shot at being a second-round pick and should not fall to Day 3.

2024 NFL Draft Stock Down

Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

Sources around the NFL rave about Mims’ skill set, but the big negatives about his draft stock are a lack of experience and durability. The durability concerns were given more validity when he was unable to finish the combine workout. Mims is considered too talented to slide out of the first round, but after this injury issue, it looks very possible that Mims ends up going in the 20s or late in the first round.

Kool-Aid McKinstry, CB, Alabama

McKinstry had an unfortunate turn of events at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine when his medical evaluation revealed that he had a Jones fracture in his foot. After not working out in Indianapolis, McKinstry will work out at his pro day before having surgery. He is expected to be ready for training camp. Team sources, however, say that this is a tricky surgery and often times requires a second try to fix the issue. Sources also shared McKinstry is not a good worker in the weight room and has a bad body for the NFL. Now, he will be in a situation of having to rehab and work hard in the training room immediately upon entering the league. McKinstry could slide in the 2024 NFL Draft because teams could be hesitant to take an injured player with the reputation of a bad work ethic.

Jermaine Burton, WR, Alabama

Team sources like Burton’s tape and think he is a receiver with a lot of ability for the NFL. He has quality size with excellent playing speed and separation skills. For months, however, team sources have said that Burton had major character issues with problems at Alabama, and at Georgia prior to his transferring to the Crimson Tide. Burton’s character concerns are really hurting him with teams. I have Burton going in the second round of my latest 2024 mock draft , but sources say he definitely could slip to third or fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
