2020 NFL Scouting Combine Team Thoughts on Workouts

This is the 2020 NFL Combine Stock Report for the linebackers. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

Shaun Bradley, LB, Temple
Shaun Bradley ran one of the faster 40 times for a linebacker, clocking in at 4.51. He also posted a decent 7.07 3-cone time and a 10-1 broad jump. He followed that up by looking smooth in the drills.

Carter Coughlin, LB, Minnesota
Carter Coughlin moved very nimbly in the drills, which shouldn’t have been a surprise in the wake of his impressive testing numbers. Coughlin ran a 4.57 40 to go along with a 10-6 broad jump and a 36-inch vertical.

Michael Divinity, LB, LSU
Michael Divinity has some off-the-field issues, so he needed an excellent combine to help offset those. He didn’t get what he was looking for, as he labored through his 40 with a 4.85 time. He also didn’t go very far in his jumps, notching a 9-7 broad and a 31-inch vertical.

Willie Gay, LB, Mississippi State
Contrary to Michael Divinity, Willie Gay is a linebacker with off-the-field problems who thrived in the workouts. He hit 4.46 in the 40 and topped Isaiah Simmons in the jumps, recording a 39.5-inch vertical and an 11-4 broad. Gay isn’t as good of a player as those numbers indicate, but perhaps some NFL coaches will believe that they can get the most out of him.

Malik Harrison, LB, Ohio State
Malik Harrison was expected to test well, but I don’t think anyone had him in the elite category. That’s exactly what he was, as Harrison posted a ridiculous 6.83 3-cone tme to go along with a 36-inch vertical, a 10-2 broad jump and a 4.66 40-yard time.

Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Kenneth Murray didn’t get to participate in the drills because he pulled his hamstring on his second 40 run. However, his stock is pointing up because his workout numbers were much better than expected. He ran a 4.52 on his initial 40, and he also hit 38 inches in the vertical and 10-9 in the broad jump.

Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
Like Kenneth Murray, Patrick Queen injured his hamstring while running the second 40 at the combine. However, he posted a 4.50 on his first try, and he also hit a 35-inch vertical and a 10-5 broad jump.

Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson
Isaiah Simmons was the talk of the third day of the combine. His 40 time of 4.39 was ridiculous. He wasn’t a slouch in his jumps either, notching a 39-inch vertical and an 11-foot broad.

Davion Taylor, LB, Colorado
Davion Taylor is an undersized player (6-1, 228), but he definitely helped himself by acing all of the testing drills on Day 3 of the combine. Taylor ran one of the fastest 40s, clocking in at 4.49. He also posted a terrific 3-cone time of 6.96, and he also notched a 35-inch vertical and a 10-7 broad jump.

Casey Toohill, LB, Stanford
Casey Toohill weighed in at 6-4, 250, so it was surprising that he ran a 4.62 40, all while posting a 39-inch vertical, a 10-6 broad jump and a 7.08 3-cone time. This was far better than anyone anticipated, so teams will undoubtedly be doing a double check on him.

Logan Wilson, LB, Wyoming
Logan Wilson had speed concerns entering the combine, but he certainly was able to dispel those with his testing numbers. He ran a 4.63 40 and also clocked in at 7.07 in the 3-cone. His jumping numbers were mediocre (10-1 broad, 32-inch vertical), but Wilson showed enough speed in Indianapolis to bolster his draft stock.
