Ryquell Armstead had some positive feedback from talent evaluators in Indianapolis, as he had an impressive week. Armstead ran an excellent 40 (4.45), especially when considering his size (5-11, 220). He also posted a 7.02 3-cone, which was a very good time. Armstead could go early on Day 3.

Alex Barnes had some great workout numbers in Indianapolis. He posted 34 bench reps despite the fact that he has long arms for a running back (31 inches). He also ran a 4.59 40 and a 6.95 3-cone, with a 10-6 broad jump and a 38.5-inch vertical.

Justice Hill injured his hamstring and couldn’t finish his workout Friday, but that won’t prevent him from having a stock-up arrow. Hill was doing great before injuring his hamstring; he ran a 4.40 40 and posted a broad jump of 10-10 and a vertical of 40 inches. Hill’s injury could prevent him from doing everything at his pro day, but he’ll be fine for training camp.

A bad 40 time isn’t the end all be all, but Elijah Holyfield ran very slowly at the combine. He posted a 4.78, which was the slowest 40 time for non-fullbacks at the position. He was also one of the few running backs to fail to hit a 30-inch vertical. Holyfield’s workout was shockingly bad, so his stock may have dropped at least one round.

Travis Homer looked great in the on-field drills, solidifying his stellar afternoon on Monday. Homer had a 7.07 time in the 3-cone, one of the best marks at the position. He also posted a 10-foot-10 broad hump and a 39.5-inch vertical. Homer was seen as a Round 4-6 prospect prior to the Combine, so perhaps he has gotten into third-round consideration.

Tony Pollard’s calling card is his returning ability, which means that his 40 time could really impact his draft stock. Pollard failed to get into the 4.4s, running a 4.52 with a 10-yard split not fast enough to rank in the top 10 of the position.

Miles Sanders is another running back who may have moved into third-round consideration. Sanders started with a 4.49, and his day only got better from there. He posted a broad jump of 10-foot-4 and a vertical of 36 inches. His 3-cone was an excellent 6.89. The cherry on top for Sanders was his great performance in the on-field drills.

Devin Singletary’s workout numbers were disappointing. He ran a 4.66 40, which was poor for his measurements (5-8, 203). He had a slow 3-cone time (7.32), and his 9-foot-9 broad jump was equally disappointing. He was decent in the drills, so it wasn’t a complete dud of a performance, but Singletary’s stock may have dropped a bit.

Dexter Williams looked awful in the receiving drills, but that was his only blemish on what was otherwise solid day. Williams posted a 10-foot-10 broad jump and a 36-inch vertical, and he also had a 7.00 3-cone time. Williams also was great in the non-receiving drills. That’s all good, but he really needs to work on his pass-catching abilities.

Mike Weber helped himself a lot in Indianapolis. He posted some nice testing numbers – most notably, a 4.47 40 and a 1.48 10-yard split – but the key item regarding his draft stock is that he was stellar in the on-field workouts, drawing praise from two running back coaches Charlie Campbell spoke to.

James Williams was very smooth in the drills. This matched some solid numbers that he posted in the workouts. Williams had a 36.5-inch vertical and a 7.01 3-cone time on what turned out to be a positive day for him.
