2020 Fantasy Football Rankings - Quarterbacks (Aug. 19):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-35

Other Positions: RB | WR | TE | Top 250 | Sleepers | Busts

  1. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Chiefs. Bye: 10.
Patrick Mahomes is the best real-life quarterback in the NFL, but he ends up being close to Lamar Jackson in fantasy because of Jackson’s insane rushing ability. Still, Jackson’s presence might cause Mahomes to be drafted a bit later than he otherwise would. Mahomes’ numbers in 2019 weren’t great overall, but keep in mind that he missed two-and-a-half games and didn’t have Tyreek Hill for the first several games of the year. He also wasn’t 100 percent during the first half of the year.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,700 passing yards. 42 passing TDs. 6 INTs. 250 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 367.

  2. Lamar Jackson, QB, Ravens. Bye: 8.
Despite his failure in the real-life playoffs, Lamar Jackson was the fantasy MVP in 2019. He has such a colossal advantage over most other quarterbacks that he’ll warrant first-round consideration in fantasy leagues next year from most people. I wouldn’t take him in the first frame; he’s a scrambling quarterback and is at greater risk of an injury as a result. Plus, quarterbacks should generally be chosen later in fantasy drafts.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 3,300 passing yards. 29 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 1,080 rushing yards. 7 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 362.

  3. Russell Wilson, QB, Seahawks. Bye: 6.
AUG. 14 UPDATE: Russell Wilson told the media that the offense will be more aggressive this season, with the team treating the entire 60 minutes “like the fourth quarter.” This is amazing news because the Seahawks are often sluggish to start before picking up the pace at the end of each half. I’m generally opposed to drafting quarterbacks early, but he’s well worth drafting if he’s available in Rounds 7-8.

What Russell Wilson does despite having absolutely no offensive line is ridiculous. Getting no help from his blocking, Wilson threw 35 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in 2018. His touchdowns dropped in 2019 to 31, but his yardage increased to 4,110. He’s still a great fantasy quarterback. If only the Seahawks would improve his offensive line…

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,100 passing yards. 32 passing TDs. 6 INTs. 340 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 322.

  4. Deshaun Watson, QB, Texans. Bye: 8.
Deshaun Watson is capable of posting some amazing numbers, but he’s also prone to several duds per year when his dreadful offensive line can’t protect against strong pass rushes. The Texans had limited resources to improve their blocking and couldn’t do so as a result. Also, remember that Watson’s projections took a hit in the wake of the foolish DeAndre Hopkins trade.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,000 passing yards. 25 passing TDs. 12 INTs. 430 rushing yards. 5 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 304.

  5. Kyler Murray, QB, Cardinals. Bye: 8.
Kyler Murray was inconsistent in his rookie campaign, which is what you’d expect from a rookie. Murray had five 300-yard games in 2019, but he also was limited to 195 yards or fewer on six occasions. The offensive line played a big part in this, as Murray struggled whenever battling a team with a great pass rush. An improved offensive line – both tackles would have to remain healthy for a change – would do wonders for Murray’s 2020 outlook on top of what DeAndre Hopkins provides.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,100 passing yards. 24 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 470 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 302.

  6. Carson Wentz, QB, Eagles. Bye: 9.
JUNE 18 UPDATE: Carson Wentz has never won a football game in which Brandon Brooks has been injured. With Brooks out for the year, Wentz’s pass protection won’t be nearly as good, so his production is expected to take a dip.

Carson Wentz remained healthy for the most part in 2019, but that wasn’t the case for the rest of his teammates. Wentz lost his top three receivers and several offensive linemen for chunks of the 2019 campaign. Wentz still threw for 4,039 yards and 27 touchdowns, illustrating how good of a quarterback he is. Wentz will be an underrated player because of the negative stain of the horrible Jalen Hurts selection.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,200 passing yards. 30 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 260 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 299.

  7. Drew Brees, QB, Saints. Bye: 6.
Despite missing five games, Drew Brees threw for 2,979 yards, 27 touchdowns and only four interceptions in 2019. Brees will return for at least one more year, so he’ll continue to post QB1-caliber numbers most weeks, especially with Emmanuel Sanders on the roster.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,200 passing yards. 33 passing TDs. 7 INTs. 0 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 298.

  8. Daniel Jones, QB, Giants. Bye: 11.
Daniel Jones showed major potential last year, scoring 26 touchdowns despite starting just 12 games. He’s expected to make a big leap in his sophomore campaign, especially because the Giants upgraded the offensive line in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,200 passing yards. 28 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 330 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 297.

  9. Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers. Bye: 5.
Aaron Rodgers endured injury-ravaged 2017 and 2018 seasons. He finally remained healthy in 2019, but didn’t get much help from his receivers beyond Davante Adams. He threw for 4,002 yards and 26 touchdowns. Those numbers would’ve increased if the Packers strengthened their receiving corps in the 2020 NFL Draft. That, unfortunately, didn’t happen because of Green Bay’s incompetent front office.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,100 passing yards. 30 passing TDs. 7 INTs. 180 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 297.

  10. Tom Brady, QB, Buccaneers. Bye: 13.
AUG. 19 UPDATE: Tom Brady has drawn praise for his performance in training camp thus far, with Cameron Brate telling the media that the 43-year-old quarterback “can still sling it.” It’s rare that we can get Brady for great value, but that’s the case this year, as his ADP is too low at 9.09. Too many people are doubting the GOAT, which means he’s set to have a big year.

Some cookie-cutter fantasy experts have declared Tom Brady to be a top-10 fantasy quarterback lock, but that seems like a silly proclamation. Brady has a chance to get into the top 10, as seen in these rankings, but he’s far from a lock to do so because he’s 43 (as of August), and the Buccaneers won’t throw as much as they did last year because unlike Jameis Winston, Brady won’t throw himself into deficits. Also, Tampa’s defense is very solid, so Brady won’t necessarily have to engage in shootouts.

Projected 2020 Fantasy Stats: 4,500 passing yards. 31 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 20 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2020 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 296.
