Team needs and outstanding trades have been taken into account with this mock draft.

  1. Chicago Bulls: Shabazz Napier, PG, Connecticut, 6-1, Sr.
Since the Bulls dealt Marquis Teague, and both Kirk Hinrich and D.J. Augustin are free agents, Chicago could use some depth at the point guard position. Shabazz Napier is a proven winner and would be a great option behind Derrick Rose.

  2. Boston Celtics: Zach LaVine, SG, UCLA, 6-5, Fr.
Despite his recent ridiculous vertical, LaVine is nowhere near NBA ready, and I’m not sold on him at all. With that being said, he is an intriguing prospect due to his athleticism. A team like the Celtics that has two first-rounders can take a chance on him in the late lottery or mid-first round and hope they hit the jackpot in a couple of years.

Boston owns the Hawks’ pick (via Brooklyn) from the Paul Pierce/Kevin Garnett trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  3. Phoenix Suns: Adreian Payne, PF, Michigan State, 6-10, Sr.
Adreian Payne is an inside/outside threat and would be a potential replacement in Phoenix for free agent Channing Frye.

Phoenix owns the Wizards’ pick from the Joe Johnson trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  4. Chicago Bulls: Jusuf Nurkic, C, Bosnia, 7-0, 1994
A wide body in the paint (280 pounds), the Bosnian is a developing low post presence. He would give the Bulls the space-eater in the middle to back up Joakim Noah.

Chicago owns the Hornets’ pick from the Tyrus Thomas trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  5. Toronto Raptors: Tyler Ennis, PG, Syracuse, 6-2, Fr.
Kyle Lowry is an unrestricted free agent, and Greivis Vasquez is a restricted free agent, so the Raptors could use another point guard option. Tyler Ennis could be a big dropper on draft night, but is a good value here for Toronto.

  6. Oklahoma City Thunder: Clint Capela, PF, Switzerland, 6-10, 1994
With a pair of first-round picks, the Thunder likely take at least one draft-and-stash option. The Swiss native looks the part, but he needs grooming in most areas of his game and must add physicality.

Oklahoma City owns the Mavericks’ pick (via Houston, via L.A. Lakers) from the James Harden trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  7. Memphis Grizzlies: T.J. Warren, SF, N.C. State, 6-8, Soph.
Tayshaun Prince is nowhere near what he used to be, and Mike Miller is a free agent after this season, so the Grizzlies could use some depth on the wing. T.J. Warren is a very efficient scorer who is at his best when attacking the basket.

  8. Utah Jazz: James Young, SG, Kentucky, 6-6, Fr.
Since the Jazz went big with its lottery pick, the team need to find some depth on the wing. James Young has great size for an NBA wing and one of the smoothest strokes in this draft class, though his stock seems to be sliding recently.

Utah owns the Warriors’ pick from the Richard Jefferson/Andris Biedrins trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  9. Charlotte Hornets: Jordan Clarkson, G, Missouri, 6-5, Jr.
Jordan Clarkson is a versatile, combo guard who fits a need in the Hornets’ backcourt since Luke Ridnour is a free agent. Clarkson also has the size to share the same backcourt as Kemba Walker.

Charlotte owns the Trail Blazers’ pick from the Gerald Wallace trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  10. Houston Rockets: P.J. Hairston, SG, North Carolina, 6-5, Jr.
The Rockets need options off their bench, and P.J. Hairston has solid size and strength to be an NBA off guard, yet also displays a pretty stroke from the perimeter. He could be an immediate role player in Houston.

  11. Miami Heat: Cleanthony Early, SF, Wichita State, 6-8, Sr.
LeBron James’ replacement! Just kidding (but maybe not). Cleanthony Early is a physical, athletic small forward who can step out and knock down perimeter shots. He could step in right away and become a role player off the Heat bench especially with Shane Battier retiring.

  12. Phoenix Suns: Bogdan Bogdanovic, G/F, Serbia, 6-6, 1992
A versatile threat, the Serbian can play the one, two, or three and does a little bit of everything to help his team. The Suns could use him as a draft-and-stash option with their third and final first-round pick.

Phoenix owns the Pacers’ pick from the Luis Scola trade. Go here to see all of the outstanding 2014 NBA Draft Trades.

  13. Los Angeles Clippers: Mitch McGary, C, Michigan, 6-10, Soph.
The Clippers don’t have much depth up front behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. Mitch McGary missed most of this past season with a back injury, but he is an aggressive, physical player who has a non-stop motor.

  14. Oklahoma City Thunder: K.J. McDaniels, SF, Clemson, 6-6, Jr.
With Thabo Sefolosha a free agent, the Thunder could use a perimeter defender on the wing. K.J. McDaniels is extremely athletic and terrific on the defensive end.

  15. San Antonio Spurs: Damien Inglis, SF, France, 6-9, 1995
Damien Inglis has the prototypical size for a NBA small forward and could sneak into the late first round. The Spurs do a tremendous job of evaluating and developing talent, and Inglis will need some grooming before he is ready to contribute at the next level.
