2014 NBA Draft Scouting Report: K.J. McDaniels
Position: Small Forward
Size: 6-6, 200
School: Clemson, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Since Clemson didn’t garner a ton of national attention, McDaniels somewhat flew under the national radar. He is crazy athletic and a terrific defender, which together makes him extremely attractive to NBA teams. McDaniels is a bit undersized to be a true small forward in the NBA and doesn’t shoot it all that well from deep, but figures to be drafted in the late teens-early 20s and a solid role player at the next level.
Player Comparison: Wesley Johnson. Johnson’s lack of development on the offensive end has relegated him to being a decent role player. McDaniels will face similar hurdles as a scorer, but because of his length, athleticism, and defensive ability, he should find a home in the NBA like Johnson has.
