2015 Senior Bowl: Monday Rumor Mill

With all the general managers, coaches and scouts in attendance for the Senior Bowl there is a lot of chatter going around. Here are some of the highlights from the rumormill on day one.
For months, there has been speculation that Philadelphia wants to trade to get Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota and reunite him with Chip Kelly. However, there are rumors going around that the Eagles love UCLA quarterback Brett Hundley. From an athletic skill set perspective, it makes all the sense in the world, as Hundley is a great athlete with mobility to hurt defenses with his feet. He also has a strong enough arm to disrupt the ball throughout the field. The rumor mill is saying that the Eagles are hot for Hundley and would target him much earlier than other teams, as in he could be in play for their first- or second-round pick.
Other teams are not fans of Hundley. In fact, we’ve spoken with multiple teams that have graded him out on the third day of the draft. However, those teams feel that the team that loves Hundley enough to draft him could do it in the second round. Perhaps the Eagles will shock those teams by taking Hundley even higher than they expect. Walt currently has Hundley going atop Round 2 in his 2015 NFL Mock Draft.
If the Eagles decide to target a quarterback early in the draft, they could have a valuable trade commodity in signal-caller Nick Foles. The Texans and Titans would both have an interest in Foles if he were made available. If Peyton Manning decides to retire, the Broncos would also be a team that would look into acquiring Foles. Denver liked Foles when it drafted Brock Osweiler. If the Eagles wanted to trade up for Marcus Mariota, they could deal Foles to get more ammo with picks to move up, or include Foles in the package.
One team that could be major players in free agency are the Houston Texans. For years now, the Texans have been up against the cap and that caused them to be unable to sign some of their good home-grown talents like Glover Quin and Connor Barwin. Quin was one of the league leaders in interceptions, while Barwin produced a nice sack total for the Eagles. Houston now enters the offseason with a lot of cap space and will probably clear up more. It sounds like linebacker Brian Cushing could be restructured in order to stay with the team. Also, tight end Garrett Graham could be candidate for the same thing. Don’t be surprised if the Texans are active in signing a number of veterans this March.
The jury is still out on whether Florida left tackle D.J. Humphries made a good decision to enter the draft, but the talent evaluators are writing great reports on Humphries. They say that Humprhies is very talented physically with the quickness and athleticism to be a starting left tackle in the NFL. Humphries was listed below 300 last summer, but sources say that is outdated and Humphries has added more mass. Humphries played well as a junior, and sources say he has the physical talent to be an early-round pick. However, Humphries has an extensive medical folder. Sources say that medical could kill his draft grade and drop him on boards. His Combine check is going to be critical.
