2015 Senior Bowl: T.J. Clemmings Interview
By Charlie Campbell – @draftcampbell
Pitt right tackle T.J. Clemmings has received a lot of draft hype from ESPN draft analysts Todd McShay and Mel Kiper. Clemmings is a raw prospect with only two seasons of experience playing on the offensive line. He was a defensive end to start out his collegiate career and moved to right tackle as a junior. Clemmings could push himself up draft boards with a strong Senior Bowl.
Who are some of the teams you’ve met with thus far at the Senior Bowl?
“I met with the Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Browns, Chiefs, Colts and Dolphins.”
Did any of these teams ask you anything that stood out?
“They really were all the same. My background, who my agent is; they might have me draw up a play, mainly just giving info on my family background.”
There are projections of you going in the top half of the first round, and others later on day one or into day two. Have you been given a range from teams on where you might go?
“There isn’t a range I have heard or have in mind. Everybody wants to go as high as possible. That’s my goal and I’m just here to show coaches why I should be part of their team.”
How the Senior Bowl started out for you thus far with the coaching you’ve received from the Titans?
“It was a good first day. There were some blocking schemes that I didn’t really do in college. I had to figure out what I was supposed to do in my first NFL practice. It was an adjustment but I’m just looking forward to more coaching.”
Have teams spoken with you about moving to left tackle in the NFL?
“That’s really one of the reasons why I’m down here. First is to compete and show coaches what I can do, but also to show that I can play on the left side. Maybe in some people’s mind not right away, but I do have the ability to do it.”
