Every year during the draft process, some players have strong showings on the field at the scouting combine in Indianapolis and at their pro days to improve their draft stocks. One prospect to watch as a potential riser this year for the 2023 NFL Draft is Ohio State left tackle Paris Johnson. Johnson has a good skill set with athletic upside and plays a premium position. With the top of the 2023 NFL Draft more unsettled than typical years, team sources say that Johnson has the potential to be a riser who ends up as top-12 pick.

The 6-foot-6, 315-pound Johnson has excellent size to be a starting left tackle in the NFL. Like many former Buckeyes, Johnson was a top recruit and showed athletic versatility over his career. In 2021, Johnson started at right guard for Ohio State and played well there. He then moved to left tackle as a junior, replacing Nick Petit-Frere. Johnson put together an excellent 2022 season as the blind-side protector for C.J. Stroud.

Northwestern offensive tackle Peter Skoronski is the consensus top offensive line prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft. Skoronski, however, has very short arms, and teams in search of a more protyptical tackle might prefer Johnson for his length. Team sources said they feel that if Johnson works out well in Indianapolis and in the weeks to come, he could find himself a top-12 selection during the 2023 NFL Draft.
