Offensive tackles are always one of the most in-demand positions in the NFL Draft. Last year, seven tackles went in the first round, with five going in the top 20. In speaking with sources from a handful of teams, they see a weak group of tackles for the 2027 NFL Draft.
Team sources had LSU’s Jordan Seaton and Texas’ Trevor Goosby as the likely first-rounders. However, some sources were not high on Goosby in the first round, while others had him as the top tackle. Goosby’s status is also up in the air after he suffered a season-ending knee injury last Saturday against Ole Miss. The injury could cause Goosby to slide, or push him to take NIL money to go back to school and have a healthy season before entering the draft.
Aside from Goosby and Seaton, sources from a few teams thought that Utah offensive tackle Zereoue Williams could become a first-rounder during the lead-up to the draft. Multiple sources said they had Indiana left tackle, Carter Smith, as a second-rounder, but they felt it was possible that he would go in the first round out of team need and teams putting a priority on edge protectors.
