2017 Fantasy Football Rankings - Quarterbacks (Sept. 6):
Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-35

  1. Joe Flacco, QB, Ravens. Bye: 10.
Joe Flacco threw for 4,317 yards with a limited supporting cast, but because of that, he threw just 20 touchdowns compared to 15 interceptions. Flacco’s albatross of a contract has made it very difficult for the Ravens to surround him with great talent, so expect Flacco to keep performing like a mid- or low-end fantasy QB2.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 4,150 passing yards. 22 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 60 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 246.

  2. Jay Cutler, QB, Dolphins. Bye: 11.
Jay Cutler is back! He has a solid supporting cast in Miami, so he looks like a decent QB2 who has streaming possibilities against weak secondaries.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 3,800 passing yards. 24 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 200 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 246.

  3. Alex Smith, QB, Chiefs. Bye: 10.
Alex Smith is as mediocre as they come in real life – hence the Patrick Mahomes selection – but his rushing ability makes him a low-end QB2 option in terms of fantasy.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 3,400 passing yards. 18 passing TDs. 8 INTs. 290 rushing yards. 3 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 239.

  4. Blake Bortles, QB, Jaguars. Bye: 8.
AUG. 18 UPDATE: It appears as though the Blake Bortles era is about to end. Bortles was trending on Twitter for hours Thursday night, and for good reason. He was atrocious against the Buccaneers, going 8-of-13 for only 65 yards. Bortles had two horrific throws. The first was a shot downfield that was underthrown so severely that it was nearly picked by a cornerback who was five yards behind Allen Robinson. The second was when Bortles heaved the ball at Robinson’s feet for what should’ve been a gain of 15 yards, prompting boos from the crowd. Bortles did incur a drop from Marcedes Lewis, but he was also guilty of throwing short of the first-down marker on third down on multiple occasions, which would explain his low YPA. Bortles could be benched sometime soon, so he’s undraftable unless you’re in a 2-QB league.

Blake Bortles relied on garbage yardage in 2015 to accumulate some impressive stats. This made him a quality fantasy quarterback, but the problem was that his defense improved so much this past season that garbage time wasn’t as frequent. There’s no reason to think Jacksonville’s stop unit will regress, and it’s more likely that Bortles won’t improve because he doesn’t care about his professional career, preferring to party instead.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 3,600 passing yards. 21 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 260 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 236.

  5. Deshaun Watson, QB, Texans. Bye: 7.
The Texans did not trade next year’s first-round pick for Deshaun Watson, just to start Tom Savage. Watson is actually a QB2 possibility, thanks to his prospective rushing numbers.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,800 passing yards. 16 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 450 rushing yards. 4 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 215.

  6. Sam Bradford, QB, Vikings. Bye: 9.
Sam Bradford set one of the most fraudulent records of all time when he eclipsed Drew Brees’ completion percentage in 2016. Bradford wasn’t very good, but didn’t have any sort of help from his anemic offensive line. The blocking will be better in 2017, but Bradford still isn’t a viable fantasy quarterback because of his injury history.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 3,400 passing yards. 17 passing TDs. 7 INTs. 40 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 204.

  7. Paxton Lynch, QB, Broncos. Bye: 5.
Paxton Lynch is raw, so it’ll take him some time to become the starter. I have to imagine that he’ll win a competition against Trevor Siemian this offseason.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,800 passing yards. 14 passing TDs. 16 INTs. 180 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 186.

  8. Brock Osweiler, QB, Browns. Bye: 9.
The Texans flushed $72 million down the toilet when they signed Brock Osweiler, as the former Bronco struggled immensely in his first season on his new team. Osweiler will have a shot to start in Cleveland, but he’s only worth rostering in 2-QB leagues.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,800 passing yards. 17 passing TDs. 15 INTs. 120 rushing yards. 2 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 174.

  9. Brian Hoyer, QB, 49ers. Bye: 11.
Brian Hoyer actually posted solid fantasy numbers in some of his starts last year. He had a solid supporting cast, but all he has to work with in San Francisco is Pierre Garcon. He’s not much of a fantasy option.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 3,000 passing yards. 16 passing TDs. 13 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 171.

  10. Christian Hackenberg, QB, Jets. Bye: 11.
Charlie Campbell reported that the Jets were not going to select a quarterback in the draft because they’ve been pleased with Christian Hackenberg’s progression behind the scenes. He’s not rosterable in regular leagues, but he’s worth looking into in 2-QB formats.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,500 passing yards. 14 passing TDs. 10 INTs. 10 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 137.

  11. Mike Glennon, QB, Bears. Bye: 9.
The Bears paid Mike Glennon an obscene amount of money, only to trade up for a quarterback. Nothing they’ve done has made any sense, and this situation should be avoided in non-2-QB formats.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,800 passing yards. 19 passing TDs. 11 INTs. 40 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 170.

  12. Jared Goff, QB, Rams. Bye: 8.
Jared Goof did not look like an NFL quarterback last season. It’s unlikely that Sean McVay will change that.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 2,400 passing yards. 11 passing TDs. 14 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 131.

  13. Trevor Siemian, QB, Broncos. Bye: 5.
Trevor Siemian could start, which is something the Broncos certainly do not want. Still, it could happen, and if it does, he’s a solid backup in 2-QB leagues.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 1,400 passing yards. 8 passing TDs. 5 INTs. 30 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 81.

  14. Robert Griffin, QB, TBA. Bye: 0.
It’s unclear why the Browns believed Robert Griffin was a viable NFL quarterback, but it just goes to show how incompetent this organization is. Griffin is a free agent for the time being.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 950 passing yards. 3 passing TDs. 4 INTs. 110 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 74.

  15. Mitchell Trubisky, QB, Bears. Bye: 9.
Mitchell Trubisky will probably play at some point as a rookie, but it doesn’t matter at all as far as fantasy football is concerned.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 700 passing yards. 3 passing TDs. 3 INTs. 80 rushing yards. 1 rushing TD.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 48.

  16. Josh McCown, QB, Jets. Bye: 11.
Josh McCown starting for the Jets would be disastrous for all parties, including fantasy football players.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 700 passing yards. 4 passing TDs. 6 INTs. 10 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 33.

  17. Tom Savage, QB, Texans. Bye: 7.
The Texans don’t want Deshaun Watson to lose in a competition to Tom Savage, but it’s a possibility.

Projected 2017 Fantasy Stats: 500 passing yards. 3 passing TDs. 4 INTs. 10 rushing yards. 0 rushing TDs.
Projected 2017 Fantasy Points (ESPN Scoring): 25.
