2010 NFL Draft E-mails – Random Questions

  • From Dave P. (via Facebook):

Walt, now Mortensen is speculating that Jimmy Clausen may fall out of the top 20 and maybe to as far as 30 to Minnesota. What do you think of that? What is wrong with these guys from ESPN?

–> Dave, I actually tweeted (@walterfootball), “Chris Mortensen predicts Jimmy Clausen won’t be drafted in the top 20. This means that Clausen will be drafted in the top 20.”

This is the best news Clausen could have possibly received.

  • From Matt H. (via Facebook):

I am not a fan of either team, but what are your thoughts on the Raiders trying to trade for McNabb?

–> They should do it. The Raiders would be an instant playoff contender. The Eagles also need to get rid of McNabb because this is their last chance to get something for him. I don’t understand why Arizona’s not trying to trade for him.

  • From Adrian H.:

I don’t understand the vitriol constantly directed at McNabb. He has, at times, carried this team on his back yet some fans still hate him; He has played with a broken ankle, a hernia, and countless other injuries yet some ‘fans’ can only criticize. He is the best QB on the Eagles’ roster and our best chance of success this coming season.

–> Donovan McNabb is undoubtedly talented. He’s one of the top 12 quarterbacks in the NFL. He has great deep accuracy.

However, McNabb is a terrible teammate. No one in the locker room likes him, partly because he throws his teammates under the bus when things go wrong. For example, after the Eagles’ second loss to Dallas this year, McNabb was asked why they were shut out. He said: “The youth on our team didn’t step up today.” The only youth that played extensively were the two receivers. It’s no wonder that most of the Eagles players want Kevin Kolb to be the starter next year.

  • From Sharieff G. (via Facebook):

I was wondering what you thought about Mel Kiper (the only competent draft analyst on ESPN) having the Jets picking Taylor Mays at No. 29 even though they signed Brodney Pool?

–> I don’t think it’ll happen, but I wouldn’t count it out. Pool has a bad history of concussions and one more could end his career. The Jets will have to take a free safety in Rounds 2-5, but probably not Round 1. I think Reshad Jones would be a good fit in Rex Ryan’s defense.

  • From Pedro H. (via Facebook):

Did you see Sam Bradford work out yesterday? He looked Healthy and had enough arm to make all the throws. Can somebody please explain to me why JAIME DUKES says the Rams should trade for the DOGG KILLER? He even had the nerve to say that Vick has a better track record the Bradford. I’m assuming he meant football wise. LMAO.

–> You know how when we think, thoughts come into our head? This does not work with Jamie Dukes. Instead, he sees pictures of his favorite foods. That’s why all the things he says don’t make any sense. I’m actually shocked he doesn’t say, “Hot dog hamburger hamburger Klondike bar pizza pizza bacon.”
