2024 NFL Draft Prospect Matchup Preview – Week 3

Penn State vs. Illinois; Saturday, Sept. 16, 12:00 PM ET FOX

The Prospects:

Penn State

  • LT Olumuyiwa Fashanu, No. 74
  • WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith, No. 1
  • CB Kalen King, No. 4
  • DE Chop Robinson, No. 44
  • LB Curtis Jacobs, No. 23
  • S Jaylen Reed, No. 1
  • CB Johnny Dixon, No. 3

Illinois

  • DT Johnny Wilson, No. 4
  • CB Tahveon Nicholson, No. 3

The Matchups: There could be some future first-round picks going head to head – if Newton lines up against Fashanu. Fashanu could be one of the top prospects in the 2024 NFL Draft, and Newton is a dangerous interior pass rusher. It will be interesting to see how Newton handles the Nittany Lions offensive line. Penn State also has some wide receiver talent to go against Nicholson.

  • RB Antwane Wells Jr., No. 3
  • TE Trey Knox, No. 1
  • DE Jordan Strachan, No. 7
  • CB Marcellas Dial, No. 6

Georgia

  • TE Brock Bowers, No. 19
  • RT Amarius Mims, No. 65
  • DT Nazir Stackhouse, No. 78
  • CB Kamari Lassiter, No. 3
  • S Javon Bullard, No. 22
  • CB Tykee Smith, No. 23
  • LB Jamon Dumas-Johnson, No. 10

  • WR Arian Smith, No. 11
  • WR Ladd McConkey, No. 84
  • RG Tate Ratledge, No. 69
  • LG Xavier Truss, No. 73

The Matchups: There are some good draft matchups in this game, and it will be a critical tape in the evaluation of Rattler. The Bulldogs have a supremely talented defense stocked with future pros, so it will be interesting to see if Rattler can demonstrate development and maturity. There will be other good matchups as well, including Dial taking on the Georgia receivers along with Bowers.

Tennessee vs. Florida; Saturday, Sept. 16, 7:00 PM ET ESPN

The Prospects:

Tennessee

  • WR Bru McCoy, No. 15
  • QB Joe Milton, No. 7
  • LB Jeremy Banks, No. 33
  • DE Tyler Baron, No. 9

Florida

  • CB Jason Marshall, No. 3
  • WR Ricky Pearsall, No. 1
  • RB Montrell Johnson Jr., No. 2
  • RT Damieon George, No. 76
  • DT Cam Jackson, No. 99
  • CB Jaydon Hill, No. 23

The Matchups: Milton has a cannon for an arm, and it will be interesting to see how he plays while taking on a secondary with some quality talent. Marshall had a rough start in the opener against Utah before playing better. He needs to show more consistency to help his grade for the 2024 NFL Draft.
