2011 NFL Draft: Fullback Rankings

The top 2011 fullback prospects available for the 2011 NFL Draft in the order in which I believe they will be drafted.

Combine 40 Times: As I explained on Twitter (@walterfootball), the official Combine 40 times are incorrect, and they’ve been proven false via the NFL Network’s simul-cam.

For the 40 times, I use the NFL Network’s unofficial times, which are more accurate. NFL teams use their own timed 40s anyway, so the official 40s are meaningless.

  1. Owen Marecic, FB/ILB, Stanford
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 246.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.75.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.87.
    Pro Day 40 Time: 4.80.
    Benchx225: 22. Vertical: 32. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 4-6.

1/24/11: Write-ups for these rankings will be added later; there were “personnel complications” on the site, which is why these rankings haven’t been updated in a while.

5/15/10: One of the tougher players in college football, Owen Marecic will actually be playing both offense (fullback) and defense (inside linebacker) in 2010. Some team needs to have him on its NFL roster come 2011.

  2. Stanley Havili, FB, USC
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 227.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
    Combine 40 Time: DNP.
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Benchx225: . Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 4-6.

5/15/10: A great weapon to have coming out of the backfield, Stanley Havili had 138 rushing yards (6.6 YPC) and 22 receptions for 298 receiving yards (13.6 average) in 2009.

  3. Henry Hynoski, FB, Pittsburgh
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 257.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.85.
Combine 40 Time: 5.07 (injured during run).
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 30.5. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 4-6.

Henry Hynoski is a tremendous blocker with solid pass-catching ability. He’s only a mid-round prospect, but you can’t blame him for declaring early given all the turmoil at Pittsburgh.

  4. Anthony Sherman, FB, Connecticut
    Height: 5-10. Weight: 242.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.67.
    Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
    Benchx225: 32. Vertical: 32.5. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 5-7.

3/24/11: Anthony Sherman chose to stand on his Combine numbers at his Pro Day. All he did was work out in the drills.

  5. Shaun Chapas, FB, Georgia
    Height: 6-2. Weight: 247.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.76.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.94.
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 35.5. Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 6-FA.

5/15/10: A traditional fullback – a very good blocker, but not any sort of ball-carrier.

  6. Patrick DiMarco, FB, South Carolina
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 240.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.73.
    Combine 40 Time: .

    Benchx225: . Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 6-FA.

  7. Robert Hughes, FB, Notre Dame
    Height: 5-11. Weight: 234.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
    Combine 40 Time: .
    Pro Day 40 Time: .
    Benchx225: . Vertical: . Broad: .
    Projected Round (2011): 7-FA.

5/15/10: Robert Hughes rushed for 416 yards and five touchdowns on a 4.7 YPC in 2009. He also caught 19 balls for 193 more yards.

  8. Ryan Taylor, TE/FB, North Carolina

    Projected Round (2011): 7-FA.

5/15/10: A potential H-back in the pros, Ben Guidugli caught 27 balls for 364 yards and three touchdowns in 2009.
