2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Mason Plumlee
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-10, 235
School: Duke, Senior
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: The middle Plumlee is having a breakout senior campaign that has put him in the running for National Player of the Year. At this point, he is what we’ve known all along: an athletic, long power forward who is a solid rebounder. However, all of Plumlee’s baskets come around the rim as he is fairly limited with his offensive game. As a result, Plumlee looks like a mid-first round pick who projects to be a reserve at the next level.
Player Comparison: Jordan Hill. Hill doesn’t possess the physicality to be a true center, but doesn’t have the ideal face up game to play the four. Both players are long and athletic and at their best around the basket, but unless Plumlee can become a consistent back to the basket threat, develop an effiective mid-range jump shot, or become more physical; he will only the same time of impact on the NBA as Hill has.
