2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: James Michael McAdoo
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-9, 230
School: North Carolina, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: While McAdoo has emerged as North Carolina’s go-to threat as expected, he hasn’t fully developed his all-around game. My biggest issue with McAdoo is that he is a hybrid forward without a true position at the NBA level. He relies on his athleticism more than his skill level and still needs to develop his face up game. McAdoo is a borderline lottery pick who projects as a power forward in a small NBA lineup.
Player Comparison: Tyrus Thomas. Thomas was praised for his athleticism coming out of LSU, and that is McAdoo’s strength as well. Both guys are explosive at the rim and and are solid rebounders, but lack the physicality and don’t possess the perimeter game to be a threat from the edge.
