Steelers Honor Criminal Antwon Rose As Ratings Fall

I wrote an article last week about the NFL ratings being the worst since 2009 for the season opener between the Chiefs and Texans. I didn’t have any other figures when I composed that article, but I was not surprised to see the low ratings in the other games. Save for one segment, NFL ratings have decreased substantially, including the two Monday night affairs, seeing an average drop of 25 percent from 2019. The lone exception was Buccaneers-Saints, as people wanted to see Tom Brady in a Buccaneer jersey for the first time. If anything, that just proves that the appetite for football is there, but fans don’t want to watch.

The NFL needs to do something to correct this as soon as possible. Instead, the league is doing the polar opposite, as the Steelers did something despicable during one of the aforementioned Monday night games against the Giants.

The Steelers decided to put the name of Antwon Rose Jr. on the back of their helmets. Rose was a 17-year-old who was shot and killed by a police officer. The Steelers deemed this to be an instance of racial injustice, opting to honor the slain teenager.

The problem was that the Rose death was not racial injustice. It wasn’t even injustice. It was justice. Literal justice.

Rose, prior to being killed, shot innocent people in a drive-by shooting. This was confirmed by the gun in his car and the residue on his hands. On the day of his death, Rose plotted to murder people. His fate doesn’t change that fact. He was an evil human being, and the world is a better place without him.

Yet, the Steelers honored him anyway, which is a new low in this horrible and nonsensical SJW movement. It was already bad enough when the Milwaukee Bucks halted the NBA playoff campaign to protest the shooting of Jacob Blake, a sexual offender who admitted to be reaching for a knife to attack police officers. I didn’t think it would get any more insufferable, yet here we are. Apparently, drive-by shooters must be honored because of their skin color.

Where does it stop, exactly? If Jeffrey Dahmer were a person of color, and he happened to be shot by a police officer after raping and murdering 17 boys, would the Steelers put his name on the back of their helmets? If Joseph Stalin were a person of color, and he happened to be shot by a police officer after killing six million people, would the Steelers honor him, too?

The Steelers have been a great NFL franchise for decades, but their irresponsible actions may have lost them some fans. This was already case, as evidenced by the dismal TV ratings, but once the knowledge of Rose’s actions become widespread, it’ll only get worse.

The truth of it is, there aren’t many racial injustices in America. There are some, for sure, but it’s not a widespread problem. More white people are killed by police officers than black people, after all. Are those racial injustices? Of course not. So, why is it a racial injusitce if a person of color is killed or shot by a police officer when they happen to be criminals like Rose and Blake? Again, this is literal justice. Criminals deserve to be punished.

I don’t know why this is such a difficult concept to understand, but people who have turned off football get it. Those in the NFL who support this SJW nonsense don’t. They’re killing their own ratings for horrible reasons, as we’re seeing the “Get Woke, Go Broke” dynamic on full display, right before our very eyes.

I’ve posted this the past two weeks, but I’m going to once again mention my three-step strategy for the NFL to fix its rating problem. It’s quite simple, and it can be done quickly:

1. Stand for the national anthem. We live in the greatest nation in the history of this planet. America is so amazing that people literally die trying to get to this wonderful place. We all have American privilege, so it’s important to acknowledge how lucky we are. Kneeling sends the opposite message: a horrible, anti-American sentiment that just divides the population. And speaking of dividing the population, only one national anthem must be played because there is only one.

2. Stop with the SJW nonsense, please. Arrogant blue checkmarks on Twitter and millionaire TV analysts will never understand this because they live in an Ivory Tower bubble, but SJW nonsense offends many people, otherwise known as the silent majority. “Get Woke, Go Broke” is real. The NFL is not immune from going broke. If no one watches, how will the league make money once the TV contracts expire?

3. Offer a sincere apology to the fans and the police. I can’t think of any profession that has had it harder than police in recent months. There are some rotten apples in police departments, but that’s the case for every single profession. Most police officers are good people, and it’s important that they have our support because they put their lives on the line to protect us. Meanwhile, I’m not sure an apology to the fans is necessary, but it would be a nice gesture.

Anyone who happens to be sensible will understand that these three items are easy and necessary to accomplish. Football players may feel bad that their misguided mission to cause a rift among the population will have been thwarted, but if they want to save their league, they’ll follow my steps.
