2010 NFL Draft Scouting Report: Terrence Cody

Strengths:
  • Absolutely massive frame
  • Thick, strong legs
  • Wide base
  • Strong hands
  • Gets a nice push in the run game
  • Run-clogger and is often double teamed
  • Powerful
  • Quick off snap
  • Collapses pocket
  • Disengages blockers
  • Athletic for his size
  • Uses hands well
  • Shows some awareness
  • Good upside
  • Disruptive

    Weaknesses:
  • Lacks lateral agility
  • Not very versatile
  • Motor runs hot and cold
  • Loses stamina late in games
  • Not a productive pass-rusher
  • Might be too big and could affect long-term health
  • Could stand to lose some weight in his “bubble”
  • Leverage can be a problem
  • Really looks slow at times
  • Doesn’t make many plays outside the phone booth
  • Lacks range

Summary: Terrence Cody is a solid nose tackle prospect, but I can’t put him on the same level as a Casey Hampton or Vince Wilfork just yet. Cody isn’t going to fit most teams running a 4-3 scheme. His lack of stamina might really hurt him on Draft Day. He is a projected second-round pick at this point. Cody is going to be a two-down player in the NFL.

Player Comparison: Shaun Rogers. Cody is a slightly less talented version of Shaun Rogers at this point, but he comes with the same concerns with potentially getting too big and lacking a consistent motor.
