2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Sergey Karasev
Position: Small Forward
Size: 6-7, 197
School: Russia, 1993
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Every NBA team needs a pure shooter like Karasev, and since he has already had success at a high level of basketball overseas, he will be a first-round pick. Karasev could sneak into the late lottery but, more than likely, won’t fall past the early 20’s.
Player Comparison: Kyle Korver. A liability on the defensive end, Korver has made a living in the NBA due to his ability to stroke it from distance and be a solid role player. That is where Karasev figures to fit in the association as well; a complimentary offensive threat who can stretch defenses with his outside shooting. Like Korver, Karasev’s biggest question mark will come on the defensive end since there are questions as to how he will be able to defend more athletic NBA wings.
