2024 NBA Free Agents: Shooting Guards

Updated: May 18, 2024.

2024 NBA Free Agents: The top-20 NBA free agent shooting guards for 2024.

** There are no team options here, as we won’t know what choice the teams will make and most won’t become free agents.

OG Anunoby, Knicks, PO, 26

The Knicks traded a ridiculous amount of assets for Anunoby and his elite three-and-D self. The question is, will his contract be a max?

Buddy Hield, 76ers, UFA, 30

It’s doubtful that the 76ers traded for Hield not to keep him, as he is one of the NBA’s elite shooters, a starting shooting guard and a potental third option on an excellent team.

Klay Thompson, Warriors, UFA, 34

Thompson is no longer what he once was, but he’s still an incredibly skilled shooter, a strong starter and should, as a franchise legend, stay.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Nuggets, PO, 31

The fifth starter in Denver’s elite starting unit is the oldest of the group, but he is vital because of strong two-way play and elite shooting.

Malik Beasley, Bucks, UFA, 27

A big-time player on the Bucks and one of the league’s ace shooters, Beasley will be looking to get paid because he is playing on a very small deal.

Luke Kennard, Grizzlies, UFA, 27

Kennard is the No. 1 shooter in the sport statistically, so he is about to earn a massive contract. He may sign a bargain deal with a contender if he’s ring chasing.

Gary Trent, Raptors, UFA, 25

Trent’s been a solid starter and scorer for several seasons. He considered an elite level sixth man.

Eric Gordon, Suns, UFA, 35

Gordon’s been an excellent shooter and scorer and an elite sixth man for 16 seasons. He can continue to help off the bench.

De’Anthony Melton, 76ers, UFA, 25

Melton is an excellent three-and-D guard who also has playmaking ability. He could quietly receive $20-plus million a season.

Gary Payton, Warriors, PO, 31

Payton is injured a lot, and his option is rather large, so he should be in Golden State next season.

Lonnie Walker, Nets, UFA, 24

Walker is another shooting specialist who has been huge for Brooklyn. He needs to sign with a playoff team.

Cedi Osman, Spurs, UFA, 29

Osman is not a star, but he has been a valuable reserve for awhile.

Alec Burks, Knicks, UFA, 34

Burks is another quality scorer and shooter to come off the bench, but he simply has not played well since being traded to the Knicks.

Talen Horton-Tucker, Jazz, UFA, 23

Horton-Tucker scores 10 points a game, defends, and is a versatile guard. He’s a solid playmaker too.

Gary Harris, Magic, UFA, 29

Statistically, Harris is coming off his worst season since his rookie year, but he still offers solid shooting from the perimeter and plus defense. It all comes down to whether or not teams trust his health, and after 10 seasons and having only played in 60 or more games in two of them, it’s hard to make that investment.

Garret Temple, Kings, UFA, 37

Temple’s been a role player for 15 seasons and can still help a team as a fourth or fifth guard.

Reggie Bullock, Rockets, UFA, 33

Bullock’s an ace shooter, which is why he remains in the league.

Josh Richardson, Heat, PO, 30

Richardson can start if needed, but’s simply an excellent role player.

Justin Holiday, Nuggets, UFA, 34

Holiday was once an elite role player, but is currently an ace bench shooter. The Nuggets will likely re-sign him.

Wesley Matthews, Hawks, UFA, 37

Matthews is mostly just a shooter and a strong locker room guy at this point. If he wants to play, however, some team will sign him.
