George Kittle

With players beginning to practice with each other, there will be updates daily to this 2023 Fantasy Football Training Camp Stock page for any news in the meantime.

If there’s an injury or a player surprising/disappointing, I’ll let you know about it and adjust my 2024 Fantasy Football Rankings accordingly. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

2024 Fantasy Football Stock Report – Training Camp

Sept. 4

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs is healthy ahead of Week 1, according to an ESPN report. Congratulations if you were able to land Gibbs as a value because of the injury scare!

George Kittle, TE, 49ers
Trent Williams has signed an extension, ending his holdout. This is huge news for the 49ers, particularly Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle. The latter blocks much more when Williams isn’t on the field.

Sept. 3

Carson Steele, RB, Chiefs
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is out for the first four weeks at the very least. Carson Steele stands to benefit as Isiah Pacheco’s direct backup. Samaje Perine is getting some hype, but he was cut by Denver and is just a third-down back.

Jaylen Warren, RB, Steelers
Jaylen Warren practiced Monday and is on track to play in Week 1. There was concern that Warren would miss time, but that is apparently no longer the case.

Sept. 2

Jerome Ford, RB, Browns
Jerome Ford is “poised to have another strong season in the featured back role,” according to Browns team reporter Kelsey Russo. Some are expecting Nick Chubb to return, but he suffered a brutal knee injury and may not even play this year.

MarShawn Lloyd, RB, Packers
MarShawn Lloyd participated in team drills on Saturday. Lloyd was expected to miss time with an injury, but it seems as though he could be ready for Week 1. This makes him a late-round flier as Josh Jacobs’ handcuff.

Sept. 1

Ricky Pearsall, WR, 49ers
Ricky Pearsall was shot on Saturday. The good news is that he’s in stable condition. The bad news is that he won’t be seeing the field anytime soon. Pearsall was atop my Fantasy Football Sleepers list before Brandon Aiyuk re-signed with the team.

Aug. 31

Marquise Brown, WR, Chiefs
Andy Reid said that Marquise Brown isn’t expected to play in Week 1. This is not shocking news, but we’re finally getting some confirmation. Brown will have nine days off to get ready for Week 2.

Rico Dowdle, RB, Cowboys
Rico Dowdle will have his special teams plays limited, likely because he’ll be featured on offense. Dalvin Cook was signed, but it would be shocking if he’s a threat to Dowdle’s workload.

Puka Nacua, WR, Rams
Sean McVay told the media that Puka Nacua will be “ready to roll.” McVay could be lying, but it sounds as though Nacua will be good to go for Week 1.

Aug. 30

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk has re-signed with the 49ers. This is bullish for his 2024 outlook, given that he won’t be stuck catching passes from Russell Wilson or a rookie quarterback.

George Kittle, TE, 49ers
George Kittle stood to benefit from a Brandon Aiyuk trade, but that won’t be the case. Kittle is still a solid tight end option, but he no longer belongs in Round 6.

Ricky Pearsall, WR, 49ers
Ricky Pearsall has been hurt the most from the Brandon Aiyuk news. Pearsall was slated to become the No. 2 receiver in the wake of an Aiyuk trade, but he’ll be stuck as the third receiver.

George Pickens, WR, Steelers
There was some concern with George Pickens losing targets if the Steelers were to acquire Brandon Aiyuk. With Aiyuk remaining in San Francisco, Pickens’ heavy target share is safe.

Deebo Samuel, WR, 49ers
Deebo Samuel takes a slight hit from the Brandon Aiyuk trade. However, there’s still an avenue for him to beat his ADP, and that would be Christian McCaffrey getting hurt. Samuel would reclaim his rushes if McCaffrey were to be sidelined at some point.

Aug. 29

Trey Benson, RB, Cardinals
There was a sentiment out there – not on this site – that Michael Carter was a threat to Trey Benson taking over as the primary running back in the event of a James Conner injury. That’s no longer the case, as Arizona waived Carter during final cuts.

Dalvin Cook, RB, Cowboys
The Cowboys signed Dalvin Cook. This warrants an up arrow only because Cook is on an NFL team. Cook is completely washed up, so don’t bother with him.

Samaje Perine, RB, Chiefs
The Chiefs signed Samaje Perine. This is almost certainly not a threat to Isiah Pacheco’s third-down work, but Perine will be an interesting name on the waiver wire of PPR leagues if Pacheco were to get hurt.

Aug. 28

Josh Jacobs, RB, Packers
A.J. Dillon is out for the year. With MarShawn Lloyd also dealing with an injury, Josh Jacobs will get all the carries.

Jordan Mason, RB, 49ers
Elijah Mitchell is out for the year, which means Jordan Mason will have the No. 2 running back job all to himself.

Tim Patrick, WR, Lions
The Broncos inexplicably cut Tim Patrick even though he was their No. 2 receiver. The Lions scooped him up quickly. He could do well in Detroit, but he’ll have to learn a new offense very quickly.

Kyren Williams, RB, Rams
Sean McVay said that Kyren Williams will be the Rams’ punt returner. I see this as neutral, as McVay may have meant that Williams will return punts when it matters most in the fourth quarter. The Eagles used Desean Jackson similarly long ago.

Aug. 27

CeeDee Lamb, WR, Cowboys
There was some concern about CeeDee Lamb potentially holding out amid a contract dispute. Those worries are gone, as Lamb signed a massive 4-year deal.

Bucky Irving, RB, Buccaneers
Chase Edmonds has been placed on injured reserve. Bucky Irving’s role as the No. 2 running back in Tampa is secure.

MarShawn Lloyd, RB, Packers
MarShawn Lloyd is expected to start the year on the PUP list. This is a disappointing outcome for a player who had so much promise when he was initially drafted.

Aug. 23

Terry McLaurin, WR, Redskins
Terry McLaurin stands to benefit from the Jahan Dotson trade. His targets could be at an all-time high with a diminished receiving corps.

Rashee Rice, WR, Chiefs
Rashee Rice has yet to be suspended. Given that there’s still an ongoing investigation, as well as the fact that the NFL tends to drag their feet on stuff like this, there’s growing sentiment that Rice may not be suspended until 2025.

Aug. 22

Dyami Brown, WR, Redskins
Dyami Brown will be the No. 2 receiver on the Redskins in the wake of the Jahan Dotson trade. Brown’s outlook is bullish with Washington having a quarterback who will be throwing far more often than last year’s quarterback.

Jahan Dotson, WR, Eagles
Jahan Dotson has been traded to the Eagles. He’ll have a chance to be more productive in an explosive offense, especially if one of A.J. Brown or DeVonta Smith were to get injured.

Kendre Miller, RB, Saints
Kendre Miller doesn’t seem likely to learn the offensive system, according to Dennis Allen. Miller’s issue is his inability to practice, according to Allen. It’s seeming like Miller will be yet another TCU bust.

Aug. 21

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk met with the 49ers to discuss a contract extension. After all the drama, Aiyuk may return to San Francisco, which would be bullish for his fantasy outlook.

Jelani Woods, TE, Colts
Jelani Woods will undergo surgery on his toe. Woods is an athletic tight end, but can’t stay healthy at all. The Colts have a million tight ends anyway.

Aug. 20

Diontae Johnson, WR, Panthers
Diontae Johnson suffered a foot/ankle injury in practice and is now walking with a limp. If you’re drafting before we get more information on this injury, I wouldn’t panic because there’s no indication that it’s overly serious, as Johnson wasn’t carted off or anything. You may want to downgrade Johnson a round or so, but if you like him, I would still draft him.

Curtis Samuel, WR, Bills
Curtis Samuel is week-to-week with a turf toe injury. Samuel seems likely to miss the first two games of the season.

Jaylen Warren, RB, Steelers
Jaylen Warren will be out for several weeks with a hamstring, putting his Week 1 status in doubt. Soft-tissue injuries tend to linger, so Warren could miss a few games.

Aug. 17

Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints
Saints rookie right tackle Tallies Fuaga is dealing with back tightness. This may not keep him out Week 1, but it’s a major concern that New Orleans’ potential top lineman is hurt. The Saints’ blocking could be horrific this year.

Rashid Shaheed, WR, Saints
Rashid Shaheed suffered a foot injury in practice. It’s unclear if this will impact him for Week 1, so keep that in mind if you plan on drafting him.

Aug. 16

Jordan Addison, WR, Vikings
Two things: One, Jordan Addison was carted off in practice with an ankle injury. Kevin O’Connell said Addison should be OK, but he could still miss some time. Second, J.J. McCarthy was ruled out for the season, so Addison will have to deal with Sam Darnold the entire year. Justin Jefferson can overcome this, but Addison is not the elite receiver Jefferson is.

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs suffered a hamstring injury a couple of days ago, but it sounds like he’ll be fine. In fact, reporter Jordan Schultz noted that Gibbs should be ready by Week 1. There’s a chance this injury could linger, but it seems as though crisis has been averted.

Aug. 15

Aug. 14

Marquise Brown, WR, Chiefs
Marquise Brown will be out 4-6 weeks. Given that he was hospitalized, this outcome is the best Kansas City could have hoped for. Brown will likely miss Week 1 and perhaps Week 2, but this means you might be able to land him as a great value.

J.J. McCarthy, QB, Vikings
J.J. McCarthy will be out 4-8 weeks with meniscus surgery. This is only applicable to 2-QB leagues, but McCarthy could be starting for the Vikings by October.

Aug. 13

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs suffered a hamstring strain in practice. I’m not too worried about it, but I could see Gibbs being downgraded a couple of spots on the big board because hamstring injuries tend to linger.

Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers
I talked up Kimani Vidal in my preseason stock report page, but Vidal apparently didn’t play in the preseason opener because he was hurt. A Chargers beat writer speculated that Vidal wouldn’t make the final roster.

Aug. 10

Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers
The Chargers still have “big plans” for Quentin Johnston, according to an ESPN report. While it’s difficult to trust a decaying company like ESPN, this report was worth noting because Johnston was practicing with the second team in training camp. Still, I don’t know if I’d read too much into it.

Jakobi Meyers, WR, Raiders
Antonio Pierce said that Jakobi Meyers has taken his play to “another level” this year. This is classic coachspeak, but I wanted to highlight Meyers because there’s a possibility that Davante Adams is traded. If so, Meyers’ target share will soar.

Aug. 9

Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers
Kimani Vidal is listed as the RB6 on the Chargers depth chart. This will not preclude Vidal from leading the Chargers in rushing this year, but he’s well behind the top two veteran runners at the moment.

Mike Williams, WR, Jets
Mike Williams is ahead of schedule and could be ready by Week 1. It’s tough to take this news seriously because Williams always seems to be hurt, but it’s worth noting that the Jets handled Breece Hall’s ACL recovery masterfully last year.

Aug. 8

Rico Dowdle, RB, Cowboys
Rico Dowdle is the favorite to lead the Cowboys in rushing yardage, according to Jon Machota of the Athletic. There’s been some pessimism regarding Dowdle after vice president Stephen Jones said that Royce Freeman is the favorite to be the RB2, but Jones may have been drunk when he made that statement.

Josh Downs, WR, Colts
Josh Downs will be out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains are troublesome injuries, so Downs may not be himself for 8-10 weeks. This is obviously a hit to his fantasy outlook.

Aug. 7

Deebo Samuel, WR, 49ers
If Christian McCaffrey misses time with his calf strain or other injuries, Deebo Samuel will greatly benefit. Samuel saw his carries disappear in the wake of the McCaffrey trade from Carolina to San Francisco, so they’ll return if McCaffrey is sidelined.

Kenneth Walker, RB, Seahawks
I was bearish on Kenneth Walker earlier this summer because Seattle lost all three of its interior offensive linemen from a year ago. However, the Seahawks signed Connor Williams, which is a huge deal for Walker because Williams is one of the top run-blocking linemen in the NFL.

Aug. 6

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 49ers
There are deals in place for Brandon Aiyuk to be traded to either Cleveland or New England. Both destinations represent downgrades for Aiyuk, especially the latter.

Braelon Allen, RB, Jets
Braelon Allen has been named the No. 2 running back for the Jets in their first depth chart. This is a great development for Allen, who passed another veteran on the roster. He’s a great handcuff to have for Breece Hall.

Christian McCaffrey, RB, 49ers
Christian McCaffrey suffered a calf strain and will miss several weeks of practice as a result. He could be fine by Week 1, but soft-tissue injuries tend to linger. I was already on the fence concerning McCaffrey’s status as the No. 1 player in my 2024 Fantasy Football Rankings because of his injury history and the wear and tear his body has taken in recent years. This will be the straw that broke the camel’s back in that regard.

Aug. 4

Jahmyr Gibbs, RB, Lions
Jahmyr Gibbs has focused on improving as a receiver this offseason, according to an ESPN report. Amon-Ra St. Brown also publicly stated that he believes Gibbs will have 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards this season.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Lions
Jonathan Brooks won’t be ready by Week 3 or 4, according to head coach Dave Canales. Chuba Hubbard looks better and better in the wake of each negative report about Brooks’ knee.

Puka Nacua, WR, Rams
Puka Nacua left Rams practice early today with a knee injury. He was seen with an ice bag wrapped around his knee. If you’re drafting today, I wouldn’t be alarmed, though this could be a tie-breaker between Nacua and someone else. It’s not like Nacua was carted of the field, or anything, and Sean McVay said he wasn’t sure what happened. I’m giving Nacua a neutral stock update for this injury, but this development will be monitored.

Aug. 3

D.K. Metcalf, WR, Seahawks
Geno Smith underwent imaging regarding many aches and pains he’s been feeling throughout training camp. While nothing was revealed, it’s still worrying that Smith, 34, is dealing with so many bumps and bruises this early in the process. Smith could be in for a decline now that he’s not attached to Dave Canales or Greg Olson, so this could adversely affect D.K. Metcalf and the rest of the offense.

Isiah Pacheco, RB, Chiefs
Andy Reid praised Isiah Pacheco’s work on third down thus far in training camp, citing that Pacheco is “good with the protections … and the technique and fundamentals.” Jerick McKinnon handled half the third-down work last year, but now it seems as though Pacheco could have that role all to himself.

Aug. 2

Justin Herbert, QB, Chargers
Justin Herbert has a plantar fascia injury. He will be in a walking boot for a few weeks, but a sports medical professional said that the injury will affect him all year. Herbert and his receivers will have to be downgraded, though it’s also possible that Herbert can end up being OK.

DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Titans
DeAndre Hopkins suffered a high ankle sprain and will be out 4-6 weeks. He may miss the first game or two of the regular season.

July 31

Rico Dowdle, RB, Cowboys
Royce Freeman could be Dallas’ No. 2 running back, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones. While Jones doesn’t have final say in these matters, it’s still discouraging to hear that Rico Dowdle may not have that role.

Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers
Chuba Hubbard has been more explosive in training camp, according to a report by Jared Feinberg of Cat Crave Blog. With Jonathan Brooks returning from a torn ACL, Hubbard will have the job to himself early in the year, and he’ll be running behind an improved offensive line.

Roman Wilson, WR, Steelers
Roman Wilson was carted off the practice field with an ankle injury. Fortunately, he’ll only miss a few weeks. This will still have negative repercussions, however, as Wilson is a rookie who won’t be able to earn playing time with strong performances in practice.

July 28

Chase Brown, RB, Bengals
Chase Brown has taken the majority of reps at running back with the first-team offense in training camp thus far. Zack Moss was signed, but Brown is going to have a legitimate chance to win the starting job. Moss and Brown could end up splitting touches.

Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints
Saints head coach Dennis Allen told the media that Taysom Hill is going to do “a lot of stuff” in the offense this year. This is obviously bad news for Alvin Kamara, who will continue to see goal-line opportunities relinquished to Hill.

July 26

J.K. Dobbins, RB, Chargers
J.K. Dobbins has been a full participant in training camp thus far. Dobbins told the media that the “storm is over” regarding his injuries. Furthermore, Gus Edwards has been missing time with an injury of his own.

Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers
Quentin Johnston has been running with the second team in training camp thus far, playing behind D.J. Chark. This is obviously an awful sign for Johnston, who had some hope coming into 2024 because of his high draft status and potential.

Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers
Jaret Patterson has been running ahead of Kimani Vidal in training camp thus far. While this could change any day, it’s a reminder that Vidal is just a rookie, and a sixth-rounder to boot. He’s been getting some buzz as a potential sleeper, but he should probably be undrafted.

July 19

Nick Chubb, RB, Browns
Nick Chubb will be placed on the active/PUP list. This isn’t too much of a surprise, but there was some hope that Chubb’s recovery would be ahead of schedule.

Alvin Kamara, RB, Saints
Alvin Kamara’s fantasy outlook took a hit with Ryan Ramczyk being ruled out for the season. Kamara already didn’t seem like a great fantasy option, and now his situation will be worse.

Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa didn’t have to throw much in the second halves of games last year. That is unlikely to be the case in 2024. The Dolphins have suffered a number of injuries and departures to their defense, including Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips both landing on the PUP list.

June 29

Chase Brown and Andrei Iosivas, RB/WR, Bengals
Coach Drew Lieberman said that Chase Brown and Andre Iosivas “made the fastest improvement of any players” he’s ever coached. I like both as late-round sleepers, so it’s nice to hear this news. Iosvias was already listed on our Fantasy Football Hidden Gems page.

Chris Godwin, WR, Buccaneers
Chris Godwin will be used in the slot more often this year. This is great news for Godwin, as he’s had his top production out of the slot. New offensive coordinator Also, Liam Coen utilizes the slot heavily in his offense.

Drake London, WR, Falcons
The Falcons will utilize a faster-paced offense this season. “Slow feet don’t eat,” said Drake London, who also noted that the ball will be in the air frequently.

June 29

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, 49ers
Brandon Aiyuk predicted that he will play for the 49ers this season. So much for San Francisco not wanting him back. Aiyuk being back on the 49ers means he doesn’t run the risk of being traded to a run-heavy team like New England.

Drake Maye, QB, Patriots
Jacoby Brissett is New England’s starting quarterback, according to an Athletic report. This is obviously a fluid situation, but Brissett is considered the heavy favorite to start in Week 1.

June 28

Jordan Addison, WR, Vikings
Jordan Addison has reportedly shown up to OTAs with more strength this offseason. This would be great for his fantasy outlook, but he’ll be playing with Sam Darnold or a rookie quarterback this season.

J.J. McCarthy, QB, Vikings
J.J. McCarthy “definitely” won’t start in Week 1, according to a report by the Athletic. Well, OK then. McCarthy has been a disappointment thus far in OTAs, but he has plenty of time to improve the rest of the summer.

June 25

John Metchie, WR, Texans
John Metchie’s explosiveness is back, according to an ESPN report. If you recall, Metchie was a highly regarded prospect coming out of Alabama, but was diagnosed with cancer. It’ll be great if Metchie can finally live up to his former expectations. However, the Texans are loaded at receiver, so Metchie’s best chance to produce would be after a trade takes place.

Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Panthers
Ian Thomas has “stolen the spotlight” at OTAs, according to an ESPN report. We’ve now reached peak offseason dog-and-pony show. While no one should draft Thomas, this reflects poorly on rookie tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders, whom some deemed to be a sleeper of sorts this year.

June 23

Tank Bigsby, RB, Jaguars
Tank Bigsby hasn’t enjoyed a positive offseason, according to a Sports Illustrated report. Bigsby has apparently struggled with drops. If you’re looking for a handcuff, you’ll have to search elsewhere.

June 22

DeMario Douglas, WR, Patriots
DeMario Douglas was reportedly the most explosive Patriots receiver at OTAs, according to media reports. I don’t know if this is positive for Douglas or negative for the rest of New England’s miserable receiving corps.

June 21

Justin Fields, QB, Steelers
Russell Wilson has been the better of the two Pittsburgh quarterbacks thus far, according to media reports. I will never suggest to draft Wilson in his current state, but this is more of a knock on Justin Fields.

Jalin Hyatt, WR, Giants
Jalin Hyatt has packed on weight this offseason to beat press coverage. Hyatt has a golden opportunity to thrive this year, given that Malik Nabers will draw so much attention from opposing secondaries.

Bryce Young, QB, Panthers
Bryce Young has reportedly looked much more comfortable in OTAs, according to Adam Thielen, who discussed the matter on Rich Eisen’s podcast. While OTAs can be a dog-and-pony show, it’s not a surprise that Young has looked better, given the upgraded coaching staff and improved supporting cast.

June 12

Jonathon Brooks, RB, Panthers
Jonathon Brooks won’t be ready for training camp, and according to Dave Canales, he has a ways to go before being ready to play. Yeah, no s**t. Brooks is coming off a torn ACL, so he’s not a recommended option for re-draft leagues this year. Brooks is going way too early at his 8.03 ADP.

Javonte Williams, RB, Broncos
Cecil Lammey, one of the top NFL team reporters in the business, said recently that Jaleel McLaughlin has been the top running back for the Broncos so far this offseason. More notably, he questioned if Javonte Williams would even make the final roster. Yikes! Lammey should be trusted more than anyone when it comes to the Broncos, so this is crushing for Williams’ fantasy stock.

May 31

Pat Freiermuth, TE, Steelers
Russell Wilson and Pat Freiermuth have reportedly developed great chemistry in practice. Wilson may not last very long as the starter, so it may not matter, but Freiermuth looks like a nice late-round tight end value.

Marvin Mims, WR, Broncos
Marvin Mims has been performing well at OTAs. This prompted Sean Payton to say, “You’re going to see a lot of growth” from Mims. This could be all hype, but Mims has a lot of talent and was blocked from producing last year with Jerry Jeudy on the roster.

Caleb Williams, QB, Bears
Caleb Williams has reportedly struggled in practice. He even threw seven interceptions in a row, according to one account. This is concerning, but I don’t think this means very much. Remember last year that Anthony Richardson couldn’t complete basic passes in preseason games.

May 24

Darren Waller, TE, Giants
Darren Waller has not been attending OTAs. These are voluntary, but Waller has been pondering retirement. Even if he ends up playing this year, he could perform like someone who has one foot out the door. I would not draft him in a normal league.

Jameson Williams, WR, Lions
Dan Campbell talked up Jameson Williams recently, calling him a “man on a mission.” Here we go again with the Williams hype train! Perhaps Williams will finally pan out this year, but it’s fair to be skeptical.

May 23

Josh Jacobs, RB, Packers
Josh Jacobs has been dealing with a hamstring issue at OTAs. This isn’t enough for me to drop him in my rankings yet, but it’s something to monitor because soft-tissue injuries can linger.

Ladd McConkey, WR, Chargers
Justin Herbert is developing a connection with Ladd McConkey, according to reports. McConkey has been practicing out of the slot with the first-team offense, which was Keenan Allen’s role in the past.

May 18

Najee Harris, RB, Steelers
Najee Harris has undergone a new training regimen, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His goal is to lose weight for the 2024 season. Harris’ stock was already on the rise with Pittsburgh using two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft to address the offensive line.

T.J. Hockenson, TE, Vikings
T.J. Hockenson was not able to provide a timeline for his torn ACL recovery. This is unfortunate, as we were already bearish on Hockenson’s 2024 outlook because of the injury.
