2023 Fantasy Football Rankings – Running Backs

Last Updated: September 7

Top 10 | 11-20 | 21-40 | 41-75 |

Other Positions: QB | RB | WR | TE | DraftSharks’ Projections
41. Tank Bigsby, RB, Jaguars. Bye: 9.

D’Ernest Johnson has proven that he can produce on a high level when given the chance. He only needs an injury to Travis Etienne to be productive.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 500 rushing yards. 15 catches. 100 receiving yards. 7 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 127.

42. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, Patriots. Bye: 11.

Ezekiel Elliott looks like he’s running in quicksand at this stage of his career, but he’s still relevant in fantasy because he’s the ultimate touchdown vulture.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 520 rushing yards. 20 catches. 120 receiving yards. 7 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 126.

43. Deon Jackson, RB, Colts. Bye: 11.

Deon Jackson is Indianapolis’ receiving back. He’s worth owning in the event that Jonathan Taylor gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 510 rushing yards. 38 catches. 260 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 126.

44. Kareem Hunt, RB, . Bye: .

Kendre Miller had lots of pre-draft hype. He could end up being the Saints’ starting running back if Alvin Kamara is suspended.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 440 rushing yards. 32 catches. 250 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 123.

45. De'Von Achane, RB, Dolphins. Bye: 10.

Devon Achane is an electric receiver out of the backfield. The problem is that he’ll be competing for touches with two other backs.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 380 rushing yards. 40 catches. 410 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 123.

46. Jerick McKinnon, RB, Chiefs. Bye: 10.

Jerick McKinnon was a big presence in the red zone in the second half of last year.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 340 rushing yards. 64 catches. 520 receiving yards. 6 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 122.

47. Chris Evans, RB, Bengals. Bye: 7.

Chase Brown was a fifth-round pick, but he’ll have a chance to start this season. Joe Mixon looked like he was running in quicksand last year.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 480 rushing yards. 24 catches. 180 receiving yards. 5 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 121.

48. Antonio Gibson, RB, Redskins. Bye: 14.

Antonio Gibson has lost the early-down work to Brian Robinson. He’ll need an injury to Robinson to be a viable option.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 460 rushing yards. 40 catches. 300 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 120.

49. Damien Harris, RB, Bills. Bye: 13.

Jaylen Warren was used often as a rookie, sometimes over Najee Harris. He’s worth rostering because he produces regardless and has a high ceiling if Harris gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 480 rushing yards. 15 catches. 90 receiving yards. 7 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 119.

50. D'Andre Swift, RB, Eagles. Bye: 10.

D’Andre Swift has huge upside when healthy, but he hasn’t been able to stay on the field thus far in his young career. Rashaad Penny ran as the Eagles’ first-string running back to open training camp. There’s still some major concern about Penny’s durability, but this is more of a hit to Swift’s fantasy outlook.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 490 rushing yards. 44 catches. 350 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 118.

51. Roschon Johnson, RB, Bears. Bye: 13.

Roschon Johnson showed some great power and tackle-breaking ability on his runs in the preseason opener, as he gained 44 yards on 12 carries. He also caught three passes for two receiving yards. His best play was a 24-yard burst in which he broke five tackles.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 450 rushing yards. 38 catches. 270 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 116.

52. Zamir White, RB, Raiders. Bye: 13.

Zamir White might be the Raiders’ starting running back in 2024. He’ll be worth adding if Josh Jacobs gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 480 rushing yards. 18 catches. 130 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 115.

53. Kendre Miller, RB, Saints. Bye: 11.

Kareem Hunt is surprisingly unsigned. That will likely change after the draft once teams know if they were able to obtain a talented running back.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 430 rushing yards. 6 catches. 30 receiving yards. 6 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 112.

54. Elijah Mitchell, RB, 49ers. Bye: 9.

Elijah Mitchell should be owned in all formats because he would immediately become a high-end RB2 in the event of a Christian McCaffrey injury.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 350 rushing yards. 10 catches. 60 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 105.

55. Devin Singletary, RB, Texans. Bye: 7.

Devin Singletary lost touches late in the year to James Cook. He should be added if Dameon Pierce gets hurt, but isn’t worth rostering otherwise.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 410 rushing yards. 20 catches. 130 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 98.

56. Jeff Wilson Jr., RB, Dolphins. Bye: 10.

Jeff Wilson Jr. fit right into Miami’s offense and performed on a high level. He could lose some receiving work to Devon Achane.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 410 rushing yards. 10 catches. 50 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 94.

57. Clyde Edwards-Helaire, RB, Chiefs. Bye: 10.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire lost his job to Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon last year.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 350 rushing yards. 20 catches. 150 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 94.

58. Tyjae Spears, RB, Titans. Bye: 7.

Derrick Henry could be traded soon, which will give Tyjae Spears an opportunity to be the starter. However, Spears has no ACL in one of his knees, so he may not able to stay healthy.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 300 rushing yards. 10 catches. 60 receiving yards. 5 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 91.

59. Chuba Hubbard, RB, Panthers. Bye: 7.

Chuba Hubbard was Carolina’s receiving back after Christian McCaffrey was traded. He may hold that role if Miles Sanders goes down.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 450 rushing yards. 24 catches. 200 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 89.

60. Rashaad Penny, RB, Eagles. Bye: 10.

Rashaad Penny missed most of 2022 with a fractured fibula. He’ll be a solid option if D’Andre Swift gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 350 rushing yards. 6 catches. 40 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 88.

61. Israel Abanikanda, RB, Jets. Bye: 7.

Zonovan Knight could take over in the event of a Breece Hall injury. Given that Hall is coming off a torn ACL, Knight could get some starts.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 200 rushing yards. 40 catches. 300 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 88.

62. Gus Edwards, RB, Ravens. Bye: 13.

Gus Edwards will play better next year because he won’t be coming off a torn ACL. He’s worth owning because he’ll play regardless, and he’ll produce highly if JK Dobbins gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 450 rushing yards. 7 catches. 40 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 87.

63. Sean Tucker, RB, Buccaneers. Bye: 5.

James Robinson might be worth a shot if Rhamondre Stevenson gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 400 rushing yards. 10 catches. 70 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 85.

64. Joshua Kelley, RB, Chargers. Bye: 5.

Joshua Kelley is the Chargers’ No. 2 running back, so he should be added if Austin Ekeler were to get hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 300 rushing yards. 15 catches. 100 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 83.

65. D'Onta Foreman, RB, Bears. Bye: 13.

D’Onta Foreman did a good job of replacing Christian McCaffrey with five 100-yard rushing performances. However, he barely saw any receiving work. He’ll share the load with Khalil Herbert.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 350 rushing yards. 6 catches. 30 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 76.

66. Leonard Fournette, RB, Buccaneers. Bye: 5.

Leonard Fournette lost some of the rushing workload to Rachaad White last year, and he remains unsigned, to no one’s surprise.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 300 rushing yards. 30 catches. 210 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 75.

67. Keaontay Ingram, RB, Cardinals. Bye: 14.

Keaontay Ingram barely did anything as a rookie, but perhaps his role will expand in his second year.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 290 rushing yards. 20 catches. 130 receiving yards. 2 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 74.

68. Matt Breida, RB, Giants. Bye: 13.

Damien Harris is gone, which could open up opportunities for Pierre Strong.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 200 rushing yards. 20 catches. 120 receiving yards. 2 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 69.

69. Pierre Strong, RB, Patriots. Bye: 11.

Matt Breida should be added if Saquon Barkley gets hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 250 rushing yards. 12 catches. 70 receiving yards. 2 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 69.

70. Tyler Allgeier, RB, Falcons. Bye: 11.

Tyler Allgeier took over as the starting running back in the middle of the season and did very well in that role. He looked like a solid RB2 until the Falcons drafted Bijan Robinson.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 320 rushing yards. 10 catches. 80 receiving yards. 3 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 68.

71. Chase Edmonds, RB, Buccaneers. Bye: 5.

Chase Edmonds will likely be Tampa’s pass-catching running back this year.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 180 rushing yards. 32 catches. 240 receiving yards. 4 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 66.

72. Cordarrelle Patterson, RB, Falcons. Bye: 11.

Cordarrelle Patterson lost his job to Tyler Allgeier during the middle of the 2022 season. At 32, Patterson’s days are numbered.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 150 rushing yards. 6 catches. 30 receiving yards. 2 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 55.

73. Mark Ingram, RB, Saints. Bye: 11.

I’m not even sure that Mark Ingram deserves a roster spot if Alvin Kamara and Jamaal Williams get hurt.

Projected 2023 Fantasy Stats: 100 rushing yards. 5 catches. 30 receiving yards. 1 total TDs.
Projected 2023 Fantasy Points: 39.
