This is the 2022 NFL Combine Stock Report for the wide receivers. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
Kevin Austin Jr., WR, Notre Dame
Kevin Austin Jr.’s 40 time doesn’t stand out (4.43), but it was an impressive time considering his 6-2, 200-pound frame. Austin’s other numbers were better. He leapt 39 inches on the vertical and notched an 11-0 broad jump. Furthermore, his 3-cone time of 6.71 blew everyone away at the position. Only one other receiver beat seven seconds, and that was Bo Melton and his 6.98 time.
David Bell, WR, Purdue
David Bell had speed concerns entering the combine, and that continues to be a lingering question. Bell ran one of the slowest 40s among the players at his position with an official 4.65. He also had some other mediocre testing numbers with a 33-inch vertical and a 9-10 broad jump.
Treylon Burks, WR, Arkansas
Treylon Burks didn’t blow anyone away with his 4.55 40 time, but at 225 pounds, that’s a solid figure. Burks was at his best in Indianapolis during the interviews. Charlie Campbell reported in the NFL Hot Press that Burks was one of the best when it came to the interviews in Indianapolis.
Velus Jones, WR, Tennessee
Velus Jones wasn’t expected to have the second-fastest 40 time among the receivers at the combine, but that’s the distinction he achieved. Jones ran a shocking 4.31 40 time, which will force teams to review his tape once again to see if that time translates to his play.
Drake London, WR, USC
Drake London wasn’t able to work out at the combine because of the ankle injury he suffered in October. There’s a chance London will be able to work out later during the pre-draft process, so this likely is not a big deal and won’t disqualify London from being chosen in the top five, as seen in our 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
Skyy Moore, WR, Western Michigan
Skyy Moore put together some great tape, and now his workout numbers are able to match it. Moore ran a 4.41 40-yard dash while also achieving a 10-5 broad jump. It’s worth noting that his hands measured in at a massive 10 1/4 inches.
Chris Olave, WR, Ohio State
Chris Olave shocked the NFL Draft world when he clocked in at an unofficial 4.26 40 time during his first and only run Thursday night. Olave’s official time came in at 4.39, but that was still an impressive number that will help cement his first-round status.
Justyn Ross, WR, Clemson
Like Drake London, Jameson Williams and John Metchie, Justyn Ross didn’t work out at the combine. Ross has been dealing with injuries, but unlike the other three wideouts mentioned, Ross was 100-percent cleared. It’s not clear why Ross didn’t participate in the combine (outside of the bench press), so this will undoubtedly hurt him.
Tyquan Thornton, WR, Baylor
Tyquan Thornton put himself on the map with a ridiculous 4.21 unofficial 40 time. Thornton was officially clocked in at 4.28, but this was still a spectacular number that ranked the best among the players at his position. Thornton also notched a 36.5-inch vertical and a 10-10 broad jump.
Christian Watson, WR, North Dakota State
Christian Watson had some momentum entering the combine, and he was able to keep it alive with some great workout numbers. His unofficial 40 time was 4.28 (later adjusted to a 4.36), and he also registered a 38.5-inch vertical and an 11-4 broad jump, which ranked the best among players at his position.
Garrett Wilson, WR, Ohio State
Garrett Wilson ran faster than college teammate Chris Olave at the combine, clocking in at 4.38 officially. He also notched a 36-inch vertical and a 10-3 broad jump. He dazzled in the drills as well, making a spinning catch on a pass from Kenny Pickett.
Mike Woods, WR, Oklahoma
Mike Woods didn’t post the best numbers – his 4.55 40 time was just OK at his 6-1, 204 frame – but he looked great in the drills, making some terrific catches.
