This is the 2022 NFL Combine Stock Report for the quarterbacks. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
Sam Howell, QB, North Carolina
Sam Howell impressed during the combine drills, throwing several impressive passes. This wasn’t a surprise, as Howell came into the combine with what was expected to have the strong arm among the quarterbacks. This turned out to be the case, as Howell’s throws were clocked in at a combine-best 59 mph.
E.J. Perry, QB, Brown
E.J. Perry wasn’t really on anyone’s radar entering the combine, but he may have emerged as a late-round flier for some team. He looked very good in the drills, and it didn’t hurt that he showed off his mobility with a 4.60 40-yard dash.
Kenny Pickett, QB, Pittsburgh
You know the story by now: Kenny Pickett’s hands measured in at 8.5 inches. This isn’t the end all be all for quarterbacks – Joe Burrow was criticized for his small hands a couple of years ago – but Pickett had fumbling problems in college, coughing up the ball 26 times. Ball security will be a concern for any team considering drafting Pickett in the first round.
Malik Willis, QB, Liberty
Malik Willis was terrific in the team interviews at the combine, per a Charlie Campbell report on the NFL Hot Press. Willis also scored a 32 on the Wonderlic. This, paired with his terrific throws in the drills, could move him into the No. 1 spot among players at his position.
