Kalon Barnes, CB, Baylor 
Kalen Barnes put himself on the map by what he did in Indianapolis. All he accomplished was running the second-fastest official 40 time ever, sprinting a 4.23.
Lewis Cine, S, Georgia Lewis Cine had a terrific combine. In addition to looking good in the drills, he also sprinted an official 4.37 and recorded an 11-1 broad jump. Furthermore, Cine reportedly was extremely impressive in formal interviews. He may have made the argument for him to be chosen in the first round.
Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida Kaiir Elam is a tall cornerback (6-2), so a 4.39 40 certainly turned some heads. Elam also looked good in the drills, at least as far as his hands were concerned. He certainly helped himself in Indianapolis.
Ahmad Gardner, CB, Cincinnati Sauce Gardner had some great tape in college, but it was unclear if he would work out at an extremely high level in Indianapolis. Gardner checked all the boxes, running an official 4.41. This was extremely impressive, considering his massive 6-3, 200-pound frame.
Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame 
This is not an overreaction to a pedestrian 40. Kyle Hamilton tied for the slowest 40 time among safeties at the combine with a 4.59. However, Charlie Campbell reported in the fall that some teams believe Hamilton will have to move to linebacker in the NFL. Their argument was a bit strengthened by what occurred in Indianapolis.
Daxton Hill, S, Michigan Daxton Hill posted a 4.38 40-yard dash, which impressed some. However, as one of the lighter safeties, Hill was expected to have a strong time. Hill’s other testing numbers were poor. He posted a 10-1 broad jump and a 33.5-inch vertical, which was the second-worst figure among players at his position. There might be some concern about a lack of explosion.
Jack Jones, CB, Arizona State Jack Jones’ 4.51 40-yard dash isn’t going to turn any heads, but it’s a good thing for the Arizona State corner that there is more to the combine than that metric. Jones was one of the standouts of the on-field drills, so he definitely helped improve his draft stock despite the underwhelming 40 time.
Zyon McCollum, CB, Sam Houston State Zyon McCollum enjoyed an incredible combine. He posted a 4.33 40 time despite his 6-2 frame. He also notched a 39.5-inch vertical and an 11-foot broad jump. His 3-cone time of 6.48 was exceptional as well.
Roger McCreary, CB, Auburn Like Jack Jones, Roger McCreary posted a 40-yard time that isn’t going to turn many heads. His 4.50 was rather mediocre. However, he was one of the top cornerbacks in the on-field drills, looking extremely smooth.
Smoke Monday, S, Auburn Smoke Monday posted some mediocre times, but the reason for his stock-down arrow is that Charlie Campbell will be releasing a report of prospects who have scared off some teams with their off-the-field issues, and Monday is one of them.
Jalen Pitre, S, Baylor Jalen Pitre didn’t excel in the 40 like his Baylor teammates, but only because he didn’t run it. Instead, Pitre flashed at the combine as a result of being outstanding and smooth in the on-field drills.
Derek Stingley, CB, LSU Derek Stingley failed to work out at the combine because of a lingering injury. This was not a positive sign for him, given that his durability is the No. 1 concern regarding his NFL outlook.
Jermaine Waller, CB, Virginia Tech Jermaine Waller looked good in the drills, but he’ll be getting a stock-down arrow because of his horrific 40. A bad 40 shouldn’t disqualify a prospect, but an anemic 4.68 will for a cornerback. This was the worst time among players at the position. Hopefully Waller can rebound at his pro day.
Tariq Woolen, CB, Texas-San Antonio If it wasn’t for Kalon Barnes’ 40 time, everyone would be talking about what Tariq Woolen accomplished. He sprinted an official 4.26, which was the fourth-fastest time at the combine. He also recorded a 42-inch vertical and was solid in the drills.
