2008 NFL Draft Scouting Combine Prospects:
QB | RB | WR | TE | OT | G | C | DE | DT | OLB | ILB | CB | S

Xavier Adibi, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-0. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.69.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: 2.

It doesn’t seem like Xavier Adibi hurt or helped his stock at the combine, but remember, Ali Highsmith performed poorly.

Alvin Bowen, Iowa State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 223.
Projected 40 Time: 4.52.
Combine 40 Time: 4.83.
Benchx225: 15. Vertical 34.
Projected Round: 5-6.

Alvin Bowen is small, and consequently will have problems getting drafted, but I liked what I saw out of him in some of the drills. Could be a late-round sleeper.

Ezra Butler, Nevada
Height: 6-1. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: 2-3.

Ezra Butler did not work out at the combine.

Dan Connor, Penn State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 234.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: 1.

Dan Connor had the flu and could not work out at the combine.

Shawn Crable, Michigan
Height: 6-4. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.59.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 29. Vertical .
Projected Round: 3.

I thought that in a disappointing day for linebackers, Shawn Crable looked and ran pretty solid. Putting up 29 reps of 225 didn’t hurt him either.

Bruce Davis, UCLA
Height: 6-2. Weight: 252.
Projected 40 Time: 4.67.
Combine 40 Time: 4.72.
Benchx225: 19. Vertical .
Projected Round: 3.

Bruce Davis managed to put on 15 pounds since the end of the season, and still was able to run well. He definitely helped his draft stock.

Jordon Dizon, Colorado
Height: 6-0. Weight: 229.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Combine 40 Time: 4.72.
Benchx225: 29. Vertical .
Projected Round: 4-5.

I still feel Jordon Dizon is undersized, but he ran well at the combine and managed to put up 29 reps of 225 pounds.

JoLonn Dunbar, Boston College
Height: 6-0. Weight: 233.
Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
Combine 40 Time: 4.92.
Benchx225: 19. Vertical .
Projected Round: 6-7.

A slow 40 really hurt JoLonn Dunbar’s draft stock.

Curtis Gatewood, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-3. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.74.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: 4-5.

Tavares Gooden, Miami
Height: 6-1. Weight: 234.
Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical 35.
Projected Round: 3.

Larry Grant, Ohio State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 235.
Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
Combine 40 Time: 4.71.
Benchx225: 20. Vertical 31.5.
Projected Round: FA.

Gary Guyton, Georgia Tech
Height: 6-1. Weight: 245.
Projected 40 Time: 4.63.
Combine 40 Time: 4.47.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical .
Projected Round: 4-5.

Wow, a 245-pound linebacker who ran a 4.47? You can bet scouts and coaches will be looking at game film of him.

Geno Hayes, Florida State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 226.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical .
Projected Round (2009): 4.

Erin Henderson, Maryland
Height: 6-2. Weight: 244.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Combine 40 Time: 4.73.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical 31.
Projected Round: 2.

E.J. Henderson performed well at the combine, unlike some other linebackers in this class.

Ali Highsmith, LSU
Height: 5-11. Weight: 230.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: 4.96.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: 2.

Yeesh. A 4.96 40? From a 230-pound linebacker? Ali Highsmith killed his draft stock.

Mike Humpal, Iowa
Height: 6-2. Weight: 244.
Projected 40 Time: 4.62.
Combine 40 Time: 4.80.
Benchx225: 20. Vertical 31.
Projected Round: 4-5.

Robert James, Arizona State
Height: 5-10. Weight: 219.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical .
Projected Round: FA.

Stanford Keglar, Purdue
Height: 6-1. Weight: 239.
Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
Combine 40 Time: 4.58.
Benchx225: 29. Vertical 34.
Projected Round: 4-5.

Another Purdue linebacker? Stanford Keglar worked out well at the combine.

Bryan Kehl, BYU
Height: 6-2. Weight: 242.
Projected 40 Time: 4.58.
Combine 40 Time: 4.64.
Benchx225: 26. Vertical 34.
Projected Round: 5-6.

Bryan Kehl looked solid at the combine; one of the NFL Network analysts compared him to Brady Poppinga.

Durell Mapp, North Carolina
Height: 6-1. Weight: 227.
Projected 40 Time: 4.66.
Combine 40 Time: 4.76.
Benchx225: 27. Vertical .
Projected Round: FA.

Steve Octavien, Nebraska
Height: 5-11. Weight: 238.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Combine 40 Time: 4.68.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: FA.

Keith Rivers, USC
Height: 6-2. Weight: 241.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Combine 40 Time: Did not run.
Benchx225: . Vertical .
Projected Round: Top 15 Pick.

Keith Rivers did not run in Indianapolis because of his ankle injury.

David Vobora, Idaho
Height: 6-1. Weight: 236.
Projected 40 Time: 4.51.
Combine 40 Time: 4.70.
Benchx225: 21. Vertical .
Projected Round: 4-5.

David Vobora won’t get drafted high, but I liked the way he looked in some of the drills. Could be a late-round sleeper.

  • Nick Watkins, Clemson
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 223.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.64.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.86.
    Benchx225: 17. Vertical .
    Projected Round: 7.

  • Thomas Williams, USC
    Height: 6-1. Weight: 238.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.89.
    Benchx225: 26. Vertical .
    Projected Round: 4-5.

    Wesley Woodyard, Kentucky
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 227.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.41.
    Combine 40 Time: 4.49.
    Benchx225: . Vertical .
    Projected Round: 4.

I thought Wesley Woodyard would play strong safety in the NFL, but apparently not. He put on about 12 pounds, so it definitely looks like he’ll be a linebacker. His 40 time went up just a bit, but a 4.49 is still really good.
