Fantasy Football: Start Em, Sit Em: Week 3

Rather than quickly listing start em and sit em players on my Week 3 NFL Picks page, I thought I’d devote a page for this. Follow @walterfootball for updates.

New England Patriots (1-1) at New York Jets (1-1)

Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
NE: RB Rhamondre Stevenson, TE Hunter Henry.
NYJ: RB Breece Hall, WR Garrett Wilson.

    Sit Em:
  • Aaron Rodgers, QB, Jets
No rushing upside is hurting Aaron Rodgers’ fantasy outlook.

Los Angeles Chargers (2-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)

    Start Em:
  • J.K. Dobbins, RB, Chargers
J.K. Dobbins appears to be his former self despite the Achilles tear.

  • Justin Fields, QB, Steelers
Justin Fields is a solid play if he starts.

  • Obvious Starts:
    LAC: None.
PIT: RB Najee Harris, WR George Pickens.

    Sit Em:
  • Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers
I’m not buying Quentin Johnston just yet.

  • Jaylen Warren, RB, Steelers
Jaylen Warren is banged up and may not be 100 percent.

Chicago Bears (1-1) at Indianapolis Colts (0-2)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    CHI: WR D.J. Moore.
IND: QB Anthony Richardson, RB Jonathan Taylor.

    Sit Em:
  • D’Andre Swift, RB, Bears
D’Andre Swift has a nice matchup, but he’s splitting touches, and I don’t trust the offensive line.

Houston Texans (2-0) at Minnesota Vikings (2-0)

    Jordan Addison is banged up.

New York Giants (0-2) at Cleveland Browns (1-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    NYG: WR Malik Nabers.

    Sit Em:
  • Devin Singletary, RB, Giants
The Browns are great against the run.

Philadelphia Eagles (1-1) at New Orleans Saints (2-0)

    Start Em:
  • Rashid Shaheed, WR, Saints
The Saints have figured out that Rashid Shaheed can be used as more than just a deep threat.

  • Obvious Starts:
PHI: QB Jalen Hurts, RB Saquon Barkley, WR DeVonta Smith, TE Dallas Goedert.
NO: RB Alvin Kamara, WR Chris Olave.

    Sit Em:
  • Taysom Hill, TE, Saints
Taysom Hill could always score a touchdown, but I’m not a fan of using gimmick players due to high variance.

Denver Broncos (0-2) at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    DEN: None.
TB: WR Mike Evans, WR Chris Godwin (PPR).

    Sit Em:
  • Javonte Williams, RB, Broncos
The Buccaneers are stout against the run, though Vita Vea could be out.

Green Bay Packers (1-1) at Tennessee Titans (0-2)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    GB: RB Josh Jacobs.
TEN: RB Tony Pollard, WR Calvin Ridley.

    Sit Em:
  • Packers Receivers
Jayden Reed might be OK, but the Packer receivers are tough plays without “No Cookie” Jordan Love.

Carolina Panthers (0-2) at Las Vegas Raiders (1-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
    CAR: None.
LV: WR Davante Adams, TE Brock Bowers, Raiders Defense.

    Sit Em:
  • Panthers Offense
The Panthers appear to be broken.

Miami Dolphins (1-1) at Seattle Seahawks (2-0)

    Start Em:
  • Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seahawks
Zach Charbonnet is a great start against Miami’s poor run defense if Kenneth Walker is out again.

  • Obvious Starts:
MIA: RB De’Von Achane, WR Tyreek Hill, WR Jaylen Waddle.
SEA: RB Kenneth Walker (if he plays), WR D.K. Metcalf.

    Sit Em:
  • Tyler Lockett, WR, Seahawks
I wouldn’t chase what we saw out of Tyler Lockett in Week 1.

Detroit Lions (1-1) at Arizona Cardinals (1-1)

    Start Em:
  • Jameson Williams, WR, Lions
Arizona’s cornerbacks suck, so Jameson Williams can be used again.

  • Obvious Starts:
DET: RB Jahmyr Gibbs, RB David Montgomery, WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, TE Sam LaPorta.
ARZ: QB Kyler Murray, RB James Conner, WR Marvin Harrison Jr, TE Trey McBride.

    Sit Em:
  • No one of note

Baltimore Ravens (0-2) at Dallas Cowboys (1-1)

    Start Em:
  • Ravens Tight Ends
Both Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely are getting plenty of snaps.

  • Obvious Starts:
BAL: QB Lamar Jackson, RB Derrick Henry, WR Zay Flowers.
DAL: WR CeeDee Lamb, TE Jake Ferguson (if he plays).

    Sit Em:
  • Cowboys Running Backs
It’s unclear what the rotation is going to be, and this is a tough matchup.

San Francisco 49ers (1-1) at Los Angeles Rams (0-2)

    Start Em:
  • Jordan Mason, RB, 49ers
Fire up Jordan Mason with Christian McCaffrey being out again.

  • Demarcus Robinson and Tyler Johnson, WRs, Rams
There should be plenty of garbage time opportunities for these players.

  • Obvious Starts:
SF: WR Deebo Samuel, WR Brandon Aiyuk, TE George Kittle.
    LAR: None.

    Sit Em:
  • Matthew Stafford, QB, Rams
Matthew Stafford was limping around in the second half of last week’s game.

Kansas City Chiefs (2-0) at Atlanta Falcons (1-1)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
KC: QB Patrick Mahomes, RB Isiah Pacheco, WR Rashee Rice.
ATL: RB Bijan Robinson, WR Drake London, TE Kyle Pitts.

    Sit Em:
  • Xavier Worthy, WR, Chiefs
Xavier Worthy should see plenty of A.J. Terrell.

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) at Buffalo Bills (2-0)

    Start Em:
  • Brian Thomas Jr., WR, Jaguars
Brian Thomas Jr. looks like the real deal. He may be Jacksonville’s No. 1 receiver already.

  • Obvious Starts:
    JAX: RB Travis Etienne.
BUF: QB Josh Allen, RB James Cook, TE Dalton Kincaid.

    Sit Em:
  • Christian Kirk, WR, Jaguars
Christian Kirk seems like an afterthought in this offense.

Washington Redskins (1-1) at Cincinnati Bengals (0-2)

    Start Em:
  • Obvious Starts:
WAS: QB Jayden Daniels, WR Terry McLaurin.
CIN: QB Joe Burrow, WR Ja’Marr Chase, TE Mike Gesicki.

    Sit Em:
  • Bengals Running Backs
The Redskins are better versus the run than the pass.
