Why would the Browns pass up taking Jenkins at #5 if he’s there?
I like Curry and given a switch to a 3-4, they need some help, but with Jenkins & Wright, wouldn’t they solidify their corners for a long long time? There should be some very decent CB talent at the top of the second round but Jenkins isn’t your average CB talent
My Response:
The Browns have two young corners they really like in Eric Wright and Brandon McDonald. McDonald was benched in the middle of the season, but regained the starting job and played brilliantly down the stretch. Could Cleveland use an upgrade at the position? Yeah, but the Browns also have major needs in their front seven that they need to address before corner, and Malcolm Jenkins isn’t going to be the top prospect on the board at No. 5, no matter what happens at 1-4.
So as a Chiefs fan for all my life, this year’s defense was sad, when I grew up watching one of the best defenses year after year. I agree with you on the fact the Chiefs need a d-end but with all of them being a reach at the #3 pick can they trade down and still get their guy? And also if they can trade down who can you see trading up to the #3 spot?
My Response:
Trading down out of the No. 3 pick would be really ideal for the Chiefs, but it’s tough to trade out of a top-five selection. First of all, according to the Trade Value Chart, the other team has to trade way too many things to move up. And second, given the economy we’re in, an owner won’t want to pay tons of money to an unproven player. I just don’t see it happening.
Thigpen a strength? You have got to stop saying this. Thigpen is not an NFL caliber QB. His stats are a product of the system he was playing in. If you watched him play you’d realize that he throws an absolutely terrible deep ball and rarely progresses through reads. You also have the alarming fact that he can’t run an offense from under center. Why would you want to go forward with a QB like that? Especially when you are in a rare position to draft a franchise QB.
If the chiefs really did average 22 points a game with him under center it would be a different story. Thigpen was in shotgun nearly exclusively though and because of this the team was terrible in third-and-short and goal-line situations. Say what you want about how many ppg they averaged but if you struggle on 3rd down and goalline situations you will not win in the playoffs. As a Chiefs fan I’ve been through that before in the 90’s and i’m sick of it. Just gettin to the playoffs to lose isn’t good enough anymore. I want the ‘ship and that offensive won’t bring it to KC.
My Response:
Under center or in the shotgun, I don’t really care – the fact remains that the Chiefs scored nearly 22 points per game with a first-year quarterback who had no running game and a pedestrian offensive line. If the Chiefs had a mediocre defense, they would have had a winning record down the stretch. Couple that with Thigpen starting an entire year, and the team could have won the AFC West.
Defense is needed before an upgrade at quarterback. Unfortunately, I think Kansas City goes after Mark Sanchez if he declares.
Not sure if you are being facetious, or just over looked it.

**For those of you who are confused, I’m doing this purposely. The only way to end these ridiculous bowl games is to confuse the public by who’s sponsoring it. If people aren’t sure and start calling it something else, the sponsors may drop out, thus taking money away from these greedy college and conference presidents.**
