2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Tony Mitchell
Position: Power Forward
Size: 6-9, 236
School: North Texas, Sophomore
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Summary: Mitchell was considered a lottery prospect at the beginning of the 2012-13 season, but a lackluster sophomore campaign with an underachieving North Texas team hurt his stock. Still, Mitchell is an elite level athlete who possesses all the physical attributes to be attract NBA scouts. He appears like a probably late first-round pick, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he falls into the second round due to the questions about his effort and inconsistencies as a scorer.
Player Comparison: Kris Humphries. It took Humphries a few years to find his role in the NBA as an athletic rebounder, and unless Mitchell diversifies his offensive game, he too will scratch and claw his way to being a role player at the next level.
