2013 NBA Draft Scouting Report: Grant Jerrett

Position: Power Forward

Size: 6-10, 235

School: Arizona, Freshman

Strengths:
  • Inside/outside threat
  • 3-point range
  • Stretches defenses with his perimeter game
  • Mid-range jump shot
  • Solid rebounder
  • Length
  • Decent shot blocker
  • Upside
  • Wide frame should fill out

  • Weaknesses:
  • Physicality
  • Aggressiveness inside
  • Post-up game needs work
  • Putting the ball on the floor
  • Lacks NBA-level athleticism

  • Summary: Jerrett is not even close to being NBA ready, so his decision to leave Arizona after his freshman year might go down as the most baffling underclassman decision of this draft class. He is bound for the D-League, but should still get second-round looks because of his ability to stretch defenses with his outside shooting.

Player Comparison: Jon Leuer. Leuer has earned a shot in the league because he’s a big guy who can stretch defenses with his outside shot. Leuer lacks the physicality or athleticism to be a rotation player in the NBA though. Jerrett has more potential than Leuer but will face similiar hurdles in his venture to be an NBA role player.
