  • Summary: Torrence was a 3-year starter at La.-Lafayette before following Billy Napier to the Florida Gators program for his senior year. At Florida, Torrence turned in a superb final season, blocking well against the SEC talent. The Gators had a lot of success running behind him, and he was a steady presence in pass protection.

As a run blocker, Torrence has heavy hands with sheer power at the point of attack to generate movement. He can latch onto defensive tackles and use his strength to manipulate them out of their gaps. Finding nasty bullies up front is getting more difficult as the uptempo and spread offenses have changed the game, and Torrence is the rare college blocker who enters the NFL with a mean streak that sets a physical tone at the point of attack. He blocks through the whistle, pushes defenders around, buries them into the ground, and finishes them off with violence. Torrence has developed strength to push defenders out of their gaps and open holes in the ground game. As a pro, Torrence should be a real asset as a run blocker.

In pass protection, Torrence has a strong anchor and can stand up bull rushers with ease. Even though he is not a great athlete, he moves well for his size to tie up speed rushers. Torrence uses his strong hands and big mass to sustain blocks well. His power helps him to recover by jarring defenders off their rush, which lets Torrence to regroup and tie them up. Fast interior defensive tackles or defensive ends who move inside in passing situations could give Torrence problems early in his NFL career, but over time, he should grow into a steady pass protector.

Torrence needs to improve his body and conditioning for the next level. Sources with pro teams said during the fall that Torrence had one of the worst bodies they’ve seen in recent years, so he will need to trim some fat and improve his conditioning for the NFL.

Torrence could be a late first-round pick or early second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Thanks to possessing a lot of experience, Torrence has the potential to be a plug-and-play starter as a rookie. He could turn into a very solid right guard at the pro level.

Player Comparison: Rodger Saffold. Torrence is a tough player to compare, but he is somewhat reminiscent of Saffold. Saffold (6-5, 325) and Torrence are almost identical in size with serious run-blocking ability while being reliable in pass protection. Saffold had a better body entering the NFL, bringing a little more athleticism and quickness. Torrence has more power and physicality to him. Saffold was the 33rd-overall pick back in 2010, and Torrence could go in the same range this year during the 2023 NFL Draft.
