Virginia Tech
Kam Chancellor, S, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-3. Weight: 231.
Projected 40 Time: 4.65.
Combine 40 Time: 4.62.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.59.
Benchx225: 22. Vertical: 31.5.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/14/10: An All-ACC second-teamer, Kam Chancellor had 68 tackles and four passes broken up. He’ll have problems in coverage at the next level.
12/14/08: Kam Chancellor struggled at times this year. He finished with 51 tackles and three passes broken up.
2007: An extremely athletic safety – seems like this draft class is laden with guys like that.
Sergio Render, G, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-3. Weight: 311.
Projected 40 Time: 5.20.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.40.
Benchx225: 28. Arm: .
Projected Round (2010): 4-5.
1/17/10: Made the All-ACC Second Team despite playing through a chest injury toward the end of the year.
2/10/09: A member of the 2008 All-ACC Second Team, Sergio Render just went through arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He’ll be good to go in August.
7/28/08: Earned the starting job right away in 2006 despite being a freshman. Sergio Render improved his play as a sophomore. Oh, and he benches more than 425 pounds, so don’t try to steal his lunch money.
Stephan Virgil, CB, Virginia Tech
Height: 5-11. Weight: 189.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Combine 40 Time: 4.73.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.69.
Benchx225: 12. Vertical: 34.
Projected Round (2010): FA.
3/3/10: How does a corner run a 4.73? Many of the defensive ends were faster than that.
1/9/10: Missed Virginia Tech’s postseason scrimmage against Tennessee because he was ACK-ademically ineligible. In 10 games, Stephan “like a” Virgil broke up only one pass, but recorded six TFL.
3/7/09: Stephan Virgil totaled 43 tackles, six interceptions, four passes broken up and 2.5 TFL. In a single game against Nebraska, Virgil returned a fumble for a touchdown, blocked an extra point and returned it for two points and blocked a punt for a safety.
Jason Worilds, Virginia Tech
Height: 6-1. Weight: 254.
Projected 40 Time: 4.70.
Combine 40 Time: 4.61.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.47.
Benchx225: 24. Vertical: 38.
Projected Round (2010): 2-3.
3/18/10: Unless Jason Worilds was running a 35-yard dash, his 4.47 at his Pro Day was very impressive. There’s a very good chance he’ll be a Day 2 pick.
3/2/10: Jason Worilds didn’t have a good 2009 campaign, but managed to strengthen his NFL Draft stock at the Combine. Worilds ran a 4.70, benched 24 reps and notched a 38-inch vertical.
1/8/10: Jason Worilds has declared for the 2010 NFL Draft. Worilds is coming off a poor season, but told the media that he expects to be drafted in the first round. This has a chance of happening until Worilds wakes up.
11/15/09: Disappointed in 2009; has just seven TFL and 3.5 sacks as a junior.
2/12/09: Despite playing with shoulder injuries, Jason Worilds garnered 18.5 TFL and eight sacks, earning himself a spot on the All-ACC Second Team.
Vanderbilt
Myron Lewis, CB/FS, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-2. Weight: 203.
Projected 40 Time: 4.56.
Combine 40 Time: 4.45.
Pro Day 40 Time: DNP.
Benchx225: 10. Vertical: .
Projected Round (2009): 4-5.
1/9/10: Myron Lewis, a member of the All-SEC Second Team, notched 41 tackles, four interceptions and eight passes broken up.
3/13/09: Myron Lewis had a dominant season for Vanderbilt, collecting 76 tackles, five sacks, seven TFL, five interceptions and six passes broken up.
Thomas Welch, OT, Vanderbilt
Height: 6-7. Weight: 306.
Projected 40 Time: 5.26.
Combine 40 Time: 5.46.
Pro Day 40 Time: 5.40.
Benchx225: 29. Arm: 33 1/4.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA.
1/18/10: Thomas Welch received a Combine invite. A two-year starter.
Middle Tennessee State
Chris McCoy, DE, Middle Tennessee State
Height: 6-3. Weight: 261.
Projected 40 Time: 4.72.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.70.
Benchx225: 23. Vertical: 33.
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
1/22/10: Chris McCoy tallied 20.5 TFL and seven sacks in 2009.
11/14/09: Chris McCoy has 13.5 TFL and four sacks this year, two of which came against Mississippi State.
Jacksonville State
Ryan Perrilloux, QB, Jacksonville State
Height: 6-2. Weight: 226.
Projected 40 Time: 4.57.
Pro Day 40 Time: 4.80.
Hand: .
Projected Round (2010): 6-7.
1/15/10: As a senior, Ryan Perrilloux had 23 touchdowns to only two interceptions. His completion percentage (58%) was mediocre, but that was because of his sterling 9.9 YPA. Perrilloux has a dubious history, but some team might just be convinced that he turned his life around. Translation: Expect the Bengals to draft him in Rounds 5-6.
2/4/09: Ryan Perrilloux predictably played well at Jacksonville State, throwing for 2,318 yards and 19 touchdowns, and also rushing for 368 yards and seven more scores. Surprisingly, he wasn’t arrested all year.
7/24/08: Ryan Perrilloux has all the athletic ability in the world. He also has a cannon for an arm. Unfortunately, he has a brick for a brain and a personality that rivals Pacman Jones’. Perrilloux was kicked off LSU for multiple off-the-field incidents. A quarterback simply can’t do things like that. They’re supposed to be studying game film and preparing for future opponents; not waving guns at people outside of bars.
