2023 NBA Mock Draft: Round 1, Picks 1-15 (Walt’s)

  1. Utah Jazz: Keyonte George, SG, Baylor Baylor
Here’s some more back court help for the Jazz, as they really need to focus on finding better guard play.

  2. Los Angeles Lakers: Kobe Bufkin, SG, Michigan Michigan
The Lakers could use some more talent on the wing, and I’m sure the fans would love to have another Kobe on the team.

  3. Miami Heat: Leonard Miller, SF, USA
Kevin Love is a huge liability. The Heat could be interested in a better defensive forward.

  4. Golden State Warriors: Nick Smith Jr., PG, Arkansas Arkansas
Jordan Poole isn’t a great basketball player, so the Warriors will need to find a better backup behind Steph Curry.

  5. Houston Rockets: Noah Clowney, PF, Alabama Alabama
The Rockets picked up a guard with the initial pick, so they could go after a versatile forward with this pick to add to their depth.

  6. Brooklyn Nets: Jett Howard, SF, Michigan
The Nets need a scoring punch. Jett Howard, the son of Juwan Howard, is a sharpshooter.

  7. Brooklyn Nets: Brandin Podziemski, SG, Santa Clara
The Nets don’t have much at guard beyond Spencer Dinwiddie and Mikal Bridges, so one of these two picks could address that.

  8. Portland Trailblazers: Rayan Rupert, SF, USA
The Blazers could add another wing, but they could also really do anything with this pick, given their many needs.

  9. Sacramento Kings: Kris Murray, PF, Iowa
The Kings have a million wings, so hopefully they don’t add another one. They could use some rim protection.

  10. Memphis Grizzlies: Olivier-Maxence Prosper, PF, Marquette
The Grizzlies had major problems at center last year because of injury, so they could use this pick to make sure that doesn’t happen again.

  11. Indiana Pacers: Maxwell Lewis, SF, Pepperdine
The Pacers could be getting good value with Dariq Whitehead, who is coming off a down season because of a foot injury.

  12. Charlotte Hornets: Brice Sensabaugh, SF, Ohio State Ohio State
The Hornets are really hurting for talent in the front court, so they should address that if they don’t with their initial pick.

  13. Utah Jazz: Jaime Jaquez Jr., G/F, UCLA UCLA
The Jazz could draft a couple of guards in the first round with no complaints because they must strengthen their back court.

  14. Indiana Pacers: Dariq Whitehead, SG/SF, Duke
The Pacers are taking the best player available with their third pick. Dariq Whitehead would be going much earlier than this if he didn’t have foot injury woes.

  15. Los Angeles Clippers: Sidy Cissoko, SG, France
Paul George is entering his mid-30s, so the Clippers could want to find another guard soon.
