2022 NFL Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2022.
Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

  1. James Daniels, G, Bears. Age: 24.
Signed with Steelers (3 years, $26.5 million)

James Daniels has been a rare, steady presence on the Bears’ offensive line. He’s both stellar at run blocking and pass protection. It’s crazy that he’s still only 24.

  2. Brandon Scherff, G/OT, Redskins. Age: 30.
    Signed with Jaguars

Brandon Scherff would have a higher rating than four stars if he were a reliable player. Scherff is a tremendous guard, but he can’t stay healthy.

  3. Connor Williams, G, Cowboys. Age: 25.
Signed with Dolphins (2 years, $14 million)

Connor Williams is coming off his best season, as he proved to be a major strength at guard for once. He’s only 25, so he’ll continue to improve.

  4. Alex Cappa, G, Buccaneers. Age: 27.
Signed with Bengals (4 years, $40 million)

Alex Cappa has developed very well since being chosen in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s a solid blocker who has no weaknesses in his game.

  5. Laken Tomlinson, G, 49ers. Age: 30.
Signed with Jets (3 years, $40 million)

Laken Tomlinson is a stout guard with no weaknesses. He turns 30 this offseason, but guards can perform on a high level into their 30s.

  6. Andrew Norwell, G, Jaguars. Age: 30.
    Signed with Redskins

Andrew Norwell has been a solid guard for quite some time, but he’ll turn 31 during the 2022 season, so he could be headed for regression soon.

  7. Mark Glowinski, G, Colts. Age: 30.
Signed with Giants (3 years, $20 million)

Mark Glowinski has been a rock-solid guard for the Colts over the years. He turns 30 this offseason, but guards can play well into their mid-30s.

  8. Austin Corbett, G, Rams. Age: 26.
    Signed with Panthers

Austin Corbett was chosen by the Browns atop the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He struggled in Cleveland, but has made some huge improvements with the Rams.

  9. Daryl Williams, G, Bills. Age: 30.
Daryl Williams had trouble saying healthy in the past, but he hasn’t missed a game in the past three years. He has been a solid presence in the interior of Buffalo’s front.

  10. Ted Karras, G, Patriots. Age: 29.
Signed with Bengals (3 years, $18 million)

Ted Karras stepped into the starting lineup in October and never looked back. He was an excellent starting guard on New England’s stellar offensive line.

  11. Trai Turner, G, Steelers. Age: 29.
    Signed with Redskins (1 year)

Trai Turner was one of the better offensive linemen on the Steelers’ roster last year, but that’s not saying much.

  12. Quinton Spain, G, Bengals. Age: 31.
Quinton Spain was a quality guard for the Bengals last year, especially when it came to run blocking. Pass protection was a bit of an issue, but not a glaring one.

  13. Richie Incognito, G, Raiders. Age: 39.
Richie Incognito hasn’t played much in the past two years. He was great the last time he took the field, but that was a while ago.

  14. Rodger Saffold, G, Titans. Age: 34.
    Signed with Bills

Now in his mid-30s, Rodger Saffold has seen his pass-protection abilities decline, but he’s still a solid run blocker.

  15. Jon Feliciano, G, Bills. Age: 30.
    Signed with Giants (1 year)

Jon Feliciano is a skilled blocker when healthy, but the problem is that he has missed 17 games in the past two seasons.

  16. Ereck Flowers, G/OT, Redskins. Age: 28.
Ereck Flowers is known as a bust in New York circles, but he has played well since leaving the Giants. The trick was moving Flowers from tackle to guard.

  17. Kyle Long, G, Chiefs. Age: 33.
It seemed to be a big deal that Kyle Long came out of retirement to join the Chiefs, but he didn’t play a single snap in 2021.

  18. Lane Taylor, G, Texans. Age: 32.
Lane Taylor was a great lineman for the Packers, but he tore his ACL in 2020 and did not look like a functional blocker for Houston. He could rebound with another year removed from his injury.

  19. Ike Boettger, G, Bills. Age: 27. — Re-signed with Bills (1 year)
  20. Oday Aboushi, G/OT, Chargers. Age: 31.
  21. Lucas Patrick, G, Packers. Age: 29. — Signed with Bears (2 years, $8 million)
  22. Michael Schofield, G/OT, Chargers. Age: 31.
  23. Will Hernandez, G, Giants. Age: 26. — Signed with Cardinals
  24. Max Garcia, G, Cardinals. Age: 30. — Signed with Giants
  25. Chris Reed, G, Colts. Age: 30. — Signed with Vikings
  26. Jermaine Eluemunor, G, Raiders. Age: 27. — Re-signed with Raiders
  27. John Miller, G, Panthers. Age: 29.
  28. Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, G, Jets. Age: 31.
  29. A.J. Cann, G, Jaguars. Age: 30. — Signed with Texans
  30. Matt Gono, G/OT, Falcons. Age: 26. — Signed with Giants
  31. Jamarco Jones, G/OT, Seahawks. Age: 26. — Signed with Titans (2 years, $5.8 million)
  32. Matt Skura, G, Giants. Age: 29.
  33. Will Richardson, G, Jaguars. Age: 28. — Re-signed with Jaguars
  34. Trent Scott, G, Panthers. Age: 28.
  35. Senio Kelemete, G, Chargers. Age: 32.
  36. Rashaad Coward, G, Steelers. Age: 27.
  37. Dakota Dozier, G, Vikings. Age: 31. — Signed with Bears
