2022 NFL Free Agency: Star rating is out of five. Age listing as of Sept. 1, 2022.
Follow me @walterfootball for updates.

  1. Davante Adams, WR, Packers. Age: 29.
    Franchised by Packers

Davante Adams is arguably the best receiver in the NFL. He’s been insanely productive over the years, even when playing without Aaron Rodgers. He’s the top overall free agent in the 2022 class.

  2. Mike Williams, WR, Chargers. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Chargers

Mike Williams endured some struggles heading into 2021, but exploded with a huge season. This was a byproduct of Justin Herbert gaining experience and having more time in the pocket.

  3. D.J. Chark, WR, Jaguars. Age: 25.
Signed with Lions (1 year, $10 million)

D.J. Chark is an explosive receiver, but played just three full games in 2021 because he broke his ankle in Week 4. Just 25, Chark should continue to improve in the coming years.

  4. Chris Godwin, WR, Buccaneers. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Buccaneers (3 years, $60 million)

Chris Godwin would have an even higher rating than four stars – he’s a young, extremely talented receiver – but he tore his ACL late in the season and will likely struggle in 2022 as a result.

  5. Odell Beckham Jr., WR, Rams. Age: 29.
Odell Beckham Jr. is obviously a talented receiver, but there’s way more to it than that. Beckham frequently causes disruptions in the locker room, and he’ll turn 30 just prior to Thanksgiving, so there could be regression soon.

  6. Christian Kirk, WR, Cardinals. Age: 25.
    Signed with Jaguars

Christian Kirk just posted the best number of his career; he caught 77 passes for 982 yards in 2021. He’s an explosive deep threat, and he’s only 25.

  7. Allen Robinson, WR, Bears. Age: 29.
Signed with Rams (3 years, $46.5 million)

What happened to Allen Robinson last year? He looked like a shell of his former self, yet he’s not even 30 yet. There’s a good chance Robinson will rebound in 2022.

  8. Jarvis Landry, WR, Browns. Age: 29.
Signed with Saints (1 year, $6 million)

Jarvis Landry is a bit overrated for how big of a name he is. Still, he’s a talented slot receiver who can serve as a capable second option. The one downside is that Landry turns 30 during the 2022 season.

  9. Braxton Berrios, WR/KR, Jets. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Jets (2 years, $12 million)

Braxton Berrios was a productive slot receiver in the second half of the year, showing great chemistry with Zach Wilson. He was also a dynamic return specialist.

  10. JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, Steelers. Age: 25.
    Signed with Chiefs

JuJu Smith-Schuster has somehow gotten worse each year. He’s still young and talented, so perhaps he’ll improve on another team.

  11. Russell Gage, WR, Falcons. Age: 26.
    Signed with Buccaneers

Russell Gage became the Falcons’ No. 1 receiver when Calvin Ridley left the team. Gage did a solid job in the slot.

  12. Jamison Crowder, WR, Jets. Age: 29.
Signed with Bills (1 year, $4 million)

Jamison Crowder is a capable slot receiver, but he’s had trouble staying healthy in recent years, missing 16 games in the past four seasons.

  13. Will Fuller, WR, Dolphins. Age: 28.
Will Fuller is an explosive receiver, but has severe issues staying healthy. He has missed 40 games in the past five years!

  14. Isaiah McKenzie, WR/KR, Bills. Age: 27.
    Re-signed with Bills (2 years, $8 million)

Isaiah McKenzie sometimes gets a chance to be a part of the offense in addition to handling his return duties. He always seems to thrive when used as a receiver.

  15. Jakeem Grant, WR/KR, Bears. Age: 29.
Signed with Browns (3 years, $13.8 million)

Jakeem Grant doesn’t do much as a receiver, but he’s a dynamic kick returner.

  16. Michael Gallup, WR, Cowboys. Age: 26.
    Re-signed with Cowboys (5 years)

Michael Gallup is extremely talented and young, but he tore his ACL in Week 17, so he may not be able to play in 2022.

  17. Cedrick Wilson, WR, Cowboys. Age: 27.
Signed with Dolphins (3 years, $22.8 million)

Cedrick Wilson played well in place of Michael Gallup whenever Gallup has been out of the lineup.

  18. Byron Pringle, WR, Chiefs. Age: 28.
    Signed with Bears

Patrick Mahomes relied on Byron Pringle more as the year progressed. He finished with a career-high 42 passes, but he could beat that next year.

  19. Sammy Watkins, WR, Ravens. Age: 29.
Signed with Packers (1 year, $4 million)

Time is running out for Sammy Watkins to meet expectations. He’s great in some games, but disappears in many others.

  20. Julio Jones, WR, Titans. Age: 33.
    Signed with Buccaneers

Julio Jones was horrible in his first and only season with the Titans. He endured injuries and wasn’t very effective when on the field. It’s likely that his time in the NFL is quickly coming to an end.

  21. A.J. Green, WR, Cardinals. Age: 34.
    Re-signed with Cardinals (1 year)

A.J. Green caught 54 passes for 848 yards in his first season with the Cardinals. He was solid at times, but he and Kyler Murray had some chemistry issues at times.

  22. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Bills. Age: 35.
Emmanuel Sanders was hot to begin the year, but cooled off as the season progressed. He’s now 35, so his days are numbered.

  23. Cole Beasley, WR, Bills. Age: 33.
Cole Beasley had a heroic anti-establishment stance during the offseason, but his 2021 campaign didn’t go as well. His 8.5 yards-per-catch average was the worst of his career. He turns 33 in April.

  24. Auden Tate, WR, Bengals. Age: 25.
Auden Tate caught only three passes in four games last year, but he’s a talented receiver buried on a very deep depth chart. He should be able to compete for a larger role elsewhere.

  25. James Washington, WR, Steelers. Age: 26. — Signed with Cowboys (1 year)
  26. Laquon Treadwell, WR, Jaguars. Age: 27. — Re-signed with Jaguars
  27. Tre’Quan Smith, WR, Saints. Age: 26. — Re-signed with Saints (2 years, $6 million)
  28. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Packers. Age: 27. — Signed with Chiefs (3 years, $30 million)
  29. Demarcus Robinson, WR, Raiders. Age: 27. — Signed with Ravens
  30. Ray-Ray McCloud, WR, Steelers. Age: 25. — Signed with 49ers (2 years)
  31. Keelan Cole, WR, Raiders. Age: 29.
  32. Chester Rogers, WR, Texans. Age: 28.
  33. Trent Sherfield, WR, 49ers. Age: 26. — Signed with Dolphins (1 year)
  34. Zay Jones, WR, Raiders. Age: 27. — Signed with Jaguars (3 years, $24 million)
  35. Cam Sims, WR, Redskins. Age: 26. — Re-signed with Redskins (1 year)
  36. Richie James, WR, 49ers. Age: 26.
  37. Malik Turner, WR, Cowboys. Age: 26. — Signed with 49ers
  38. DeAndre Carter, WR, Redskins. Age: 29. — Signed with Chargers
  39. Mack Hollins, WR, Dolphins. Age: 29. — Signed with Raiders (1 year)
  40. Albert Wilson, WR, Dolphins. Age: 30. — Signed with Vikings
  41. Chad Beebe, WR, Vikings. Age: 28. — Signed with Texans
  42. Dede Westbrook, WR, Vikings. Age: 28.
  43. Damiere Byrd, WR, Bears. Age: 29. — Signed with Falcons
  44. Kalif Raymond, WR, Lions. Age: 28. — Re-signed with Lions
  45. Adam Humphries, WR, Redskins. Age: 29.
  46. Tavon Austin, WR, Jaguars. Age: 31. — Signed with Bills
  47. Rashard Higgins, WR, Browns. Age: 27. — Signed with Panthers
  48. Mohamed Sanu, WR, 49ers. Age: 33. — Signed with Dolphins
