Alabama 41, Georgia 34

  • Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in college football because he can beat a defense with his legs or his arm. He proved that against Georgia, dominating in the first half and then making a clutch throw late in the fourth quarter to pull off a comeback win.

In the first quarter, Milroe threw an excellent deep ball to Emmanuel Henderson for a 33-yard gain. Milroe showed a strong arm and superb placement to get the completion. A couple of plays later, Milroe showed his athleticism to dodge a defensive tackle in the pocket, and Milroe exploded up the field for a chunk gain. To finish the drive, Milroe ran around the left side for a seven-yard touchdown run. On the next drive, Milroe lofted in a perfect pass to the corner of the end for a 16-yard touchdown pass to Jam Miller. The throw from Milroe was beautiful to drop it in over tight coverage to his back, running a wheel route.

Early in the second quarter, Milroe blew the game open when he took a zone read run and exploded down the field for a 36-yard touchdown run that also featured Milroe running through a tackle attempt from Malachi Starks. Milroe was close to another score, but a pass deflected off a receiver and a Georgia defender caught the tipped ball for an interception. After the Alabama defense blew their lead to Georgia in the fourth quarter, Milroe responded by lofting a deep ball to freshman Ryan Williams along the sideline. Williams adjusted to the deep ball and dodged a few tackles to score a 75-yard touchdown. Milroe finished completing 17-of-33 passes for 374 yards with two touchdowns passing, two touchdowns rushing, and an interception.

Overall, this tape will help Milroe’s draft grade. He showed a strong arm that can push the ball vertically down the field, and most importantly, He threw the ball accurately to all levels. Milroe still needs development with his field vision and working through progressions. However, he is showing improvement weekly. For the NFL, Milroe also needs to learn a lot in terms of recognizing fronts, coverages, and getting his team into the protection calls. Milroe has a first-round skill set, and if he enters the draft, he could be an opening night selection.

  • Georgia quarterback Carson Beck had a rollercoaster night. He is in the running to be the first quarterback drafted, but this game won’t help that cause. While Beck showed some fight and was resilient to lead a comeback, Beck also had some horrible turnovers that played a big part in Georgia losing this game.

In the first quarter, Beck had a poor pass on the game’s second drive. Beck rushed a pass to his receiver on an attempted screen, but the ball was poorly located and floated to an Alabama defensive back for an interception. A few plays later, the Crimson Tide turned the short field into their third touchdown to go up 21-0. On the next drive, Beck had an inaccurate check-down, which fell incomplete on a third down in what should have been an easy conversation.

After falling behind 28-0, Beck started to move the ball and threw a perfect bullet between two defenders for a critical conversion to get inside the Alabama 20. Late in the second quarter, when the Bulldogs finally had grabbed momentum, Beck threw a terrible pass. The ball was forced to a receiver with four defensive backs around him and floated right into the chest of an Alabama defender for an easy interception. It was a terrible decision and pass by Beck. On the next drive, an Alabama linebacker read the eyes of Beck and jumped a route for a near pick-six, but the defender dropped Beck’s pass.

In the third quarter, Beck threw a short touchdown pass after sliding to his right before throwing a bullet to the back of the end zone. On the next drive, Beck had a wide-open tight end Oscar Delp downfield, but Beck’s pass was inaccurate and fell incomplete. Shortly later, Beck scrambled to his right and underestimated the speed of an edge rusher. Beck had poor ball security and had the ball slapped out of his hands for a backbreaking fumble.

Beck came back to throw a few strikes to move the ball down the field, including a short touchdown toss to the back of the end zone. He then lofted in a pretty pass for a gain of 30 and then hit Arian Smith for 47 yards. Beck then made a shocking throw with a 67-yard touchdown pass. Beck lofted up a deep ball down the middle of the field and dropped in a perfect ball to his receiver on the run. Bell broke a tackle and ran a little bit into the end zone. Alabama quickly retook the lead, and Beck had one more shot. He threw some good passes to move down the field, but at the 25-yard line, Beck lofted a jump ball to the front of the end zone. It was underthrown, and a freshman corner intercepted the pass to clinch the win for Alabama. Beck completed 27-of-50 passes for 439 yards with three touchdowns, three interceptions, and a fumble.

This game will be a negative tape that hurts Beck’s draft grade. Beck made some inaccurate passes, made bad decisions, and had poor ball security. If Beck avoids more games like this, then it won’t matter much, as teams will look past some bad games. Beck has a powerful arm and can rip teams vertically. He looks like a future pro starter, but this game illustrates that Beck still has room for improvement and needs to land with good NFL coaching.

  • Alabama guard Tyler Booker has been superb this season for the Crimson Tide, and that continued with an excellent tape against Georgia. Booker was stonewalling bull rushes, tying up speed rushers, and getting movement at the point of attack in the ground game. The powerful Booker can get a serious push at the point of attack with brute physicality and power. He is a people mover in the ground game and looks like a plug-and-play starter at guard in the NFL. Booker could be a first- or second-round pick next April, and this tape will help.

Colorado 48, UCF 21

  • Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is one of the top quarterback prospects for the 2025 NFL Draft, and he continued to build his stack of quality tapes while taking on UCF. Sanders and superstar cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter are almost a two-man team that has to provide huge plays for Colorado to overcome its lack of talent on the offensive and defensive lines. The duo was able to come through again to get the Buffalos a road win in Orlando.

After an early interception, Sanders started heating up and carrying his team to produce a series of scoring drives before halftime. In the first half, Sanders hooked up with Hunter for a 23-yard touchdown and then laid out a tremendous deep ball where his receiver made an incredible diving catch for a 47-yard touchdown. At first, it looked like Sanders might have overthrown it for a potential interception, but Sheppard rewarded his quarterback with a fantastic diving catch. Late in the second quarter, Sanders held the ball a long time and dodged a sack before rolling to his left and rifling a ball downfield to Hunter for a gain of about 40 yards. In the third quarter, Sanders used his arm and legs to move the ball to set up some rushing touchdowns for Colorado. Sanders completed 28-of-35 passes for 290 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

For the NFL, Sanders has the skill set to be a starting quarterback at the pro level. He is an accurate passer with excellent instincts, reads the field well, has a quality arm, and has some mobility to avoid sacks. Sanders will need to improve his internal clock for the next level, as he holds the ball too long and puts a lot of pressure on his offensive line. Part of that issue is Sanders trying to give his receivers time to get open, but regardless, he will need to get the ball out faster when he’s in the NFL. In this draft analyst’s opinion, Sanders is the top quarterback prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft and is worthy of going at the top of the first round.

  • Hunter should join Sanders as one of the first players selected, and he provided more proof against UFC. In the second quarter, Hunter had tight man coverage on a go route down the sideline, and he used his fantastic ball skills to make a leaping pass breakup. Midway through the third quarter, Hunter was in zone coverage and read the eyes of K.J. Jefferson trying to throw a check down to the tight end. Hunter showed his burst to fly downhill and make a diving interception. Later in the fourth quarter, Hunter did not look great on a tackling effort on a play. However, to finish the drive, he combined with a teammate to stop at the half-yard line on fourth-and-goal to get the ball back for his offense.

Hunter is in the running to be the top prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, regardless of position. As a corner, Hunter is a phenomenal athlete with excellent instincts, feel, agility in coverage, and amazing ball skills. He could be a No. 1 corner in the NFL that lines up against top receivers on a weekly basis. He also could be a starting wide receiver with size, speed, and excellent hands. Hunter might be used like a young Charles Woodson as a full-time corner and gadget receiver. Hunter looks like a top-five pick for the 2025 NFL Draft.
