Before I get into my final Top 25 of the season, here’s my prediction of the CFP Top Six that will be announced Tuesday. As always, this isn’t necessarily what I think, but’s it’s what I believe the committee will do.

CFP Top Six
  1. Ohio State
  2. LSU
  3. Clemson
  4. Georgia
  5. Utah
  6. Oklahoma

This one seems pretty easy. The committee could always flip Ohio State and LSU again, but I doubt that will happen. The general belief is that LSU could lose to Georgia and still make the top four, and that’s certainly quite possible. I will go as far as saying I believe the same courtesy could be extended to Ohio State as well. If Georgia beats LSU, the likelihood of two SEC teams in the top four would seem pretty high. If Wisconsin beats Ohio State, I don’t think the Badgers would be able to climb high enough to get in the top four ahead of Oklahoma or Baylor, but the Buckeyes could still stay in based on their total body of work.

For what it’s worth, I believe Baylor will be No. 7, Wisconsin at No. 8, Alabama at No. 9 and Florida at No. 10

Now for my top 25

  1. Clemson (12-0)
  2. LSU (12-0)
  3. Ohio State (12-0)
  4. Georgia (11-1)
  5. Utah (11-1)

  6. Oklahoma (11-1)
  7. Wisconsin (10-2)
  8. Baylor (11-1)
  9. Alabama (10-2)
  10. Florida (10-2)

Top 1-10 Analysis

Well, all hell didn’t break loose last week. We had some upsets, most notably Auburn over Alabama and Wisconsin over Minnesota, but not much changed the top half of the top 10. Last week, there were nine teams, in my opinion, that had a shot at the top four. This week, I believe we’re down to seven. And Baylor is one of those teams. The Bears have been held down a bit by their schedule, but they put up a great effort against Oklahoma and blew out Texas and Kansas. Pollsters and the committee are giving the Bears a little more respect.

Alabama is still a top-10 team in my opinion. I just don’t see the Crimson Tide moving past No. 9. Wisconsin is the curious team to me. The Badgers should be the highest-ranked two-loss team, and while they will need a ton of help on Championship Saturday, there is a chance.

  1. Auburn (9-3)
  2. Penn State (10-2)
  3. Minnesota (10-2)
  4. Notre Dame (10-2)
  5. Memphis (11-1)

  6. Oregon (10-2)
  7. Iowa (9-3)
  8. Boise State (11-1)
  9. Michigan (9-3)
  10. Appalachian State (11-1)

  11. Cincinnati (10-2)
  12. Navy (9-2)
  13. Virginia (9-3)
  14. USC (8-4)
  15. SMU (10-2)

Top 11-25 Analysis

I believe Memphis is legitimate top-15 team, and with a second win against Cincinnati in as many weeks, the Tigers will be in the Cotton Bowl. If Cincinnati wins, anything could happen. Boise State should be the next in line if the Broncos can beat Hawaii in the Mountain West championship game; but expect the Bearcats to petition hard citing a tougher conference and a non-conference game against Ohio State. If both Memphis and Boise State lose, I believe Cincinnati would be the choice over Appalachian State. That being said the Sun Belt final between 11-1 Appalachian State and 10-2 La.-Lafayette should be a lot of fun to watch.
