This is the 2023 NFL Combine Stock Report for the defensive linemen. Follow me @walterfootball for updates.
Adetomiwa Adebawore, DE, Northwestern
Adetomiwa Adebawore posted some ridiculous numbers at the combine. He ran a 4.49 with a 1.61 split despite weighing 282 pounds. He also had a 37.5-inch vertical and a 10-5 broad jump. Adebawore became just the fourth edge defender since 2003 to weigh at least 275 pounds and jump 37 inches in the vertical. The other three were J.J. Watt, Mario Williams, and Rashan Gary!
Keanu Benton, DT, Wisconsin
Keanu Benton’s 40 time of 5.08 isn’t going to wow anyone, but it’s not a bad result, given his 312-pound frame. What stands out is that Benton had the best 3-cone time (7.34) among defensive linemen. He also looked good in the drills to display plus agility.
Bryan Bresee, DT, Clemson
Bryan Bresee had a down 2022 because of health and personal reasons, but he certainly looked 100 percent at the combine. He ran a 4.86 at 305 pounds, while also posting 29 inches in the vertical.
Jalen Carter, DT, Georgia
Jalen Carter had to leave the combine for an arrest stemming from a racing incident in which someone was killed in January. He didn’t work out as a result.
Yaya Diaby, DE, Louisville
Everyone pays attention to the 40 times, but the 10-yard split is so important for edge rushers. That’s why Yaya Diaby makes the cut; he had a 1.56 split in his 40 despite weighing 263 pounds. He also had a great performance in the positional drills.
Calijah Kancey, DT, Pittsburgh
Calijah Kancey said he’d surprise everyone during the combine, and he did exactly that. Kancey set the 40-time record for defensive tackles with a 4.67. He also had a 10-yard split of 1.64, which was almost as ridiculous.
Moro Ojomo, DT, Texas
Moro Ojomo had a very strong performance in the drills to help his draft stock. His 40 time (5.04) wasn’t very good, but his 33-inch vertical was pretty solid at 292 pounds.
Zacch Pickens, DT, South Carolina
Zacch Pickens didn’t post the best numbers 0 he had a 4.89 40 and a 30.5-inch vertical – but he was one of the top performers in the drills. He looked very explosive during the on-field portion of the workout.
Jalen Redmond, DT, Oklahoma
Jalen Redmond had fine workout numbers – 4.81 40, 1.71 10-yard split, 34.5-inch vertical – but that wasn’t all. He also looked great in the on-field drills to help boost his draft stock.
