Zion Nelson Has Early-Round Potential

Recently in the Hot Press, we disclosed that there was a lack of highly rated talent along the offensive line on NFL teams’ preseason watch list. One player who did get an estimation as a top-50 prospects was Miami left tackle Zion Nelson. Nelson broke into the starting lineup as a true freshman in 2019, and he locked down the left tackle position over the past three years for the Hurricanes. Pro team sources told WalterFootball.com they believe Nelson has starting potential for the NFL.
“Nelson is a solid second-round pick right now,” said an area scout who has looked at Nelson’s tape already. “He could continue to rise from there depending on how the season goes.”
The 6-foot-5, 316-pound Nelson has good size to be a NFL left tackle and will enter the league with a lot of experience from the college ranks. While Nelson’s tape might say he is a second-rounder right now, he plays a premium position that is always in demand, and the 2023 NFL Draft could feature a weak offensive tackle class, which could help him to rise. Nelson is a prospect to monitor as he has the potential to be one of the top offensive tackles in the 2023 NFL Draft.
