Seahawks Rookie Forecast 2025
Solid Starter

The Rams traded out of the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, and they were rewarded handsomely by acquiring the Falcons’ 2026 first-round pick. Los Angeles was without their second-round pick from the Braden Fiske trade with Carolina last year, so the Rams stayed at only one selection in the first two rounds of the 2025 draft. In the second round, they landed a safe and solid prospect in Ferguson.
At Oregon, Ferguson ended up setting the Ducks’ record for career receptions and touchdowns for a tight end. In 2024, he had 43 catches for 591 yards and three touchdowns. Ferguson showed receiving ability over the past few seasons with the Ducks. He has strong hands, the quickness to get down the seam, and the ability to pick up some yards after the catch. At 6-foot-5, 247 pounds, Ferguson has the size and potential to turn into a solid blocker. While he will need development as a blocker, the ability is there for him to turn into a three-down starter.
In the short term, Ferguson should be a solid second tight end to pair in double tight end sets with veteran Tyler Higbee. In a year or two, the Rams could save money and move Ferguson into the starting lineup. After some developmental time to improve his blocking, Ferguson should become a solid starter for Los Angeles.

Most Likely To Bust

The Rams traded out of the first round, and I do not think any of their day-two picks are likely to bust. As stated above, I think Ferguson could be a solid starter and give them quality three-down play. I also believe that third-round pick edge rusher Josaiah Stewart is going to be a solid contributor. While he may not be a full-time starting edge defender, I think he could at least be a dangerous designated pass rusher in the subpackage. The odds are long of day-three picks panning out, so it is not a true bust when they don’t stick in the NFL. Thus, I do not see a pick with true bust potential for the Rams in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Potential Boom Pick

Likewise, I don’t see a real boom pick for the Rams in their 2025 NFL Draft class. I think Ferguson will be a solid starter, and Stewart will be a nice designated pass rusher. However, I do not think Ferguson will be among the elite tight ends in the NFL, and I do not think Stewart is going to be an impact player or a true three-down starter. Hence, I do not see a boom pick candidate for Los Angeles.

Future Depth Player

I think Hunter is going to be a quality backup for Kyren Williams. Hunter was a physical load for Auburn and ran really hard for the Tigers in 2024. He averaged 6.4 yards per carry for 1,201 yards with eight touchdowns. He had 21 receptions for 155 yards and a touchdown. In 2023, he averaged 5.7 yards per carry for 909 yards with seven touchdowns. The 5-foot-9, 205-pound Hunter is a physical downhill runner who can get yards after contact and is a very hard-nosed back. Hunter is also a good special-teams player and showed excellent speed at the combine with a time of 4.44 seconds. He could be an excellent day-three value as a solid backup and special-teams contributor for Los Angeles.
