Maturity Concerns Hurt Kaleb Johnson

Rolled Newspaper bearing title: "NFL HOT PRESS"

Iowa running back Kaleb Johnson has been one of college football’s most dynamic and dominant running backs this season. Johnson has at least one touchdown in every game and has three games where he found the end zone three times. In 2024, he has averaged 7.1 yards per carry for 1,328 yards with 20 touchdowns with 19 catches for 109 yards and a touchdown. Team sources feel that Johnson is a very gifted player, but make up issues hurt him in their reports.

“He’s really talented,” said an NFC area scout. “He has the talent of a first or second-rounder, but the maturity is an issue. Not a bad kid, just immature. I think that’s going to drop him into day two.”

The 6-foot, 225-pound Johnson is a big back for the NFL with surprising speed and power. Johnson has produced a lot of good tape from the 2024 season, but excelling in his pre-draft interviews will be vital. With an excellent skill set, it only takes one team to fall in love and take him despite the maturity concerns.
