2024 NBA Mock Draft: Round One – Picks 16-30

Philadelphia 76ers: Jared McCain, G, Duke

Due to Joel Embiid missing half the season, the Sixers are in position to draft a big piece for once. If there was a Tobias Harris type to replace him, that would be the pick. Jared McCain, meanwhile, has starting ability at the two or could become an elite sixth man.

Los Angeles Lakers: Tidjane Salaun, PF, France

The very tall Frenchmen has the potential to be a star, but he is raw. Salaun is 6-foot-11 and long, which helps his shot-blocking talent to go with his smooth jumper. The Lakers can afford to take the risk picking him, and he would fit alongside Anthony Davis.

Orlando Magic: Ron Holland, SG, USA

Holland was talked about as the No. 1 pick to start the season and was pegged as a big-time scorer, but he simply had a poor season in the G-League. He still has potential.

Toronto Raptors: Carrlton Carrington, G, Pittsburgh

With possibly three first-rounders, the Raptors need to stack their promising team with more talent. Likely losing Gary Trent Jr., Toronto also has to find another scoring guard, and Carrington could fill that need.

Cleveland Cavaliers: Kevin McCullar, G, Kansas

The star guard was injured at the end of the season, but his numbers were ridiculous. McCullar has strong scoring ability, but he needs to improve his efficiency from three. At 6-foot-7, he is also a pesky defender and a strong playmaker who in theory could play three positions. The Cavaliers could use a talent like him, and as they could also be losing Donovan Mitchell, a guy like McCullar really fits.

New Orleans Pelicans: Yves Missi, C, Baylor

Missi is a talented rebounder and shot-blocker. The Pelicans are really in need of big depth, and that’s not also including Jonas Valanciunas being a free agent. New Orleans really needs a five.

Phoenix Suns: Tyler Kolek, PG, Marquette

The Suns have no real point guard, and they could fix that with the Marquette star. Kolek is a true point guard with strong scoring ability and would be the perfect guy to give Phoenix’s stars more efficient shots.

Milwaukee Bucks: Tyler Smith, PF/C, USA

The Bucks only have the aging Brook Lopez at the five, so they have to find themselves a young five to develop. Smith is 6-foot-11, with the Ignite, and has a growing game that could become brilliant.

New York Knicks: Izan Almansa, PF, Spain

Almanza is the fourth Ignite team member in the first round of this 2024 NBA Mock Draft. The Spanish-born big man is pure potential, and with two first-rounders, the Knicks can take a chance on a project, which they’ve been willing to try.

New York Knicks: Juan Nunez, G, Spain

Nunez is a true point guard with truly elite point guard and playmaking talent. He can also really score the ball. Nunez should be able to mesh well with Jalen Brunson.

Toronto Raptors: Kel’el Ware, C, Indiana

The Raptors will be one of the youngest teams in the NBAa, but they are paying generous money to 28-year-old five Jakob Poeltl, who they should consider trading. Ware is a 7-foot offensively talented big man who can shoot and protect the rim. Toronto has to develop a big man, and Ware is impressive.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Terrence Shannon, G, Illinois

Shannon is a pure scorer, one of the draft’s elite, and he can come to Minnesota and be a sixth man as a rookie. The Timberwolves really lack a stud scoring guard on the bench.

Denver Nuggets: Devin Carter, PG, Providence

The older Reggie Jackson is the biggest producer in Denver’s average second unit, where none of its younger role guys have been a big help. Carter can be the scoring sixth man the Nuggets have lacked.

Utah Jazz: D.J. Wagner, PG, Kentucky

The Jazz could lose sixth man Jordan Clarkson, and they may need a guard to replace him. They alreadt needed another one regardless. Wagner is quite inconsistent, but when he’s on, he’s incredible.

Boston Celtics: Kyshawn George, SG, Miami

George is a 6-foot-9 former point guard who still has point guard abilities, is an ace shooter, and defends well. He is versatility personified, which is a rare aspect the Celtics lack.
